Today’s a bit of a switcheroo as our buddy Juice is traveling and couldn’t get in for today’s piece. Enter stage left from your guy MarmosDad for a bit of a different look at the beginning of the week instead of our usual Wednesday. It’ll take a bit of masterful manipulation to pull some names […]

I know what you’re all doing. Counting down a New York slugger to home run immortality. Great! Me too! Pete Alonso (4-for-5, 3 runs, 5 RBIs and his 39th homer) moves to within 34 of tying Barry Bonds. That is so laughably funny. You can have an insane year and still be almost half away from Bonds. That’s like Aaron Judge vs. everyone else this year. Almost. Still not quite as ridiculous, but close. Wait, Pete Alonso secured an even more important record — the new Mets’ RBI record (128). So, it’s been truly a fantastic year for Albombso, as he hits .270, and has a legit shot of a top five slot on the Player Rater. A lofty status for a guy who runs like he’s an insect in molasses, though, he does have five steals. For 2023 fantasy, I could see Pete Alonso still being underrated because there is no real speed, and his average this year might be considered fluky-ish, as he’s more of a .255 guy. Think you are selling him short though. For hitters with the most homers in his 1st four seasons, only three guys have more than Alonso: Ralph Kiner, Pujols and Eddie Mathews. 40 homers is the new 60 homers, and do you want a guy who is as much a lock for 40 homers as anyone? Then Albombso! Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Well, here it is. The final Two-Start Dive Bar of 2022. I hope everyone enjoyed this column. I hope it helped you make some tough calls. I hope it sometimes made you chuckle. I hope it made you thirsty. There aren’t too many double-dippers in this final full week of the season. The pickings are […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Welcome back to another week of Top Dynasty Keepers.
The regular season will soon be coming to and end, which means the major league debuts of two of the games top prospects will also be coming to an end.
VERY DIFFERENT PLAYERS
This week we are going to take a look at Riley Greene of the Detroit Tigers and Tristan Casas of the Boston Red Sox.
Both players entered the season as two of the top prospects in the game. Riley was a consensus Top 10 prospect, entering the season ranked fourth by Baseball America, fifth by MLB.com and sixth by Baseball Prospectus.
Greene was one of the top hitting prospects in the 2019 draft and has remained so since become a professional.
Meanwhile, Casas entered the 2022 season as the 19th best prospect by Baseball America, 16th my MLB.com and 44th by Baseball Prospectus. Unlike Greene, Casas was not drafted because of his hit tool. He was drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft because he can hit the ball a long way.
GETTNG THEIR FEET WET
While Greene and Casas are very different players, both have one thing in common – they have both reached the majors this season.
So far, their debuts have been a mix of good and bad. Both have struggled at the plate at times. Greene is currently hitting under .250 while Casas is barely hitting about .100 during his brief time with the Red Sox.
But both players have shown off the tools – Greene’s overall hitting skill and Casas’ massive power – that got them promoted from the minors.
So let’s take a look at the two rookies.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Last week is a good representation of the closing month of the fantasy baseball regular season. We had our top recommendation pushed back, and he didn’t even make a start. That sort of crap happens way too often this time of the season, and it makes picking streamers more challenging than ever. With that said, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?It is Sunday, September 25th, 2022 and with the baseball season having about a week and a half left, it is definitely winding down. That said, there are still a week and a half’s worth of opportunities to win some cash and play some regular season MLB DFS. This article will be about the FanDuel […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Guardians OF Will Brennan fits beautifully onto a playoff roster given his contact-heavy approach and solid all-around game. In 129 games between Double and Triple-A, Brennen slashed .314/.371/.479 with 13 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 69 strikeouts and 50 walks. They probably could’ve used him sooner, which would’ve given him time to adjust before the playoffs. It’s just three games so far, but he’s got three RBI’s, two stolen bases, zero strikeouts and a .364 batting average.
As most MLB teams have moved ever closer to three-outcome lineups, Cleveland has traveled the opposite path toward roster construction, prizing low strikeout rates and all-field approaches. It’s working, and it could be a deadly brew to the fence-swinging clubs in October. Tampa gets a lot of love for maintaining a winner despite penny-pinching owners, but Cleveland is about to make its fifth postseason in seven seasons, and 2022 feels like the beginning of a dominant run through the AL Central. They’re up eight games ahead of the second place White Sox right now and eleven games up on the Twins. It’s not easy to see how those two bridge the gap next year.
Please, blog, may I have some more? After this weekend there will only be 10 days left in the MLB season. Don’t neglect the three-day week to end the season. Often times leagues can be decided by one at-bat. Which means we need to be in on players now if you want that leg up on your rival manager. Notable schedules: […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The season is winding down and that gives us an opportunity to look at one of the most important times of the year for a keeper league owner. As the playoffs and final standings push come to a close, those in contention will inevitably feel the roster crunch. Casting off talent to make the all too critical move may win the league, but also be our ticket to a useful building block going into next year’s draft. This week, we will focus on some of those casualties to see if there is any value to be found. While these names might not be sexy, they just might be the right price for a keeper or dynasty piece. Join us as we jump into the trash heap with our hitter profiles as we search for some 2023 keeper values.
Please, blog, may I have some more? What’s up fam, I’m filling in for Mr. Pants this week, and what a weekend to do it… Albert Pujols became just the fourth person ever to hit 700 HR at the big league level. Truly a remarkable feat. What’s even more remarkable is that he nearly died on the vine outside of the walls […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Wild Card race is starting to flesh itself out and today shows the AL teams in as Toronto, Tampa Bay and Seattle. The teams looking in from the outside as of Saturday are Baltimore, Chicago, Minnesota and Boston. On the NL side Atlanta is out in front by 11+ games with San Diego and […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Saturday, Razzballers! The countdown to the post-season continues. This week in “There Goes My Season!” you will find appearances from Byron Buxton, Tyler Wells, Garrett Whitlock, Nick Senzel, Trevor Rogers, Eric Stout, and a few suspected others. In the cruelest twist of fate, Ozzie Albies broke his finger one day after returning from the […]
