Going to be a real quick analysis today. I’m in Nashville for a beer conference and surrounded by Taylor Swifties and bearded dudes. The fog has just lifted ever so slightly on my brain to the point where I can put this together. Hopefully, it helps as I have led readers astray with my hitters the last three weeks. So I’m gonna rub my beard, drink a beer, and channel my inner Swiftie. Onto the picks!

I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, May 9th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 10-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

New to DFS?  You can start playing right now on FanDuel and put our picks to the test.  If you’re scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond, be sure to read our content and subscribe to the DFS Bot for your daily baseball plays. Logan Webb, SP: $9,500. Not spending all the way to the top here, but will pay up for Webb. He lost his first four starts, but has turned in three quality gems last trips out. The Nationals he will face don’t strike out a ton they are best in the majors in that category, but they are only 27th in OPS. Patrick Corbin opposes him so I like the chances for Webb to get a win.

Clarke Schmidt, SP: $6000. Going value here. Schmidt is still rocking a high ERA, and struggling to go deep, but he has held opponents scoreless in two of his last three times out and struck out 8 batters in two of his last three times out. He’ll face the Athletics who strike out the 5th most in MLB.

Salvador Perez, C: $4,800. I usually go value on catcher, but I can’t pass up Salvy today. He’s on a five game hit streak and has seven homers on the year. The real reason I can’t pass however is he faces Lucas Giolito who he is hitting .419 off in his career with 4 Home runs.

Ty France, 1B: $4,000. France finally hit his second home run of the season last night. He is also riding a 5 game hit streak. He’ll face Andrew Heaney and his 5.52 ERA.

Brice Turang, 2B: $3,000. Turang is on a six game hit streak and has been solid in the field for the crew. He’ll face Noah Syndergaard who is now some other version of himself. With his 6.32 ERA we should now call him Snore instead of Thor.

J.D. Davis, 3B: $3,500. Davis will face the aforementioned Patrick Corbin tonight. That’s reason to start anyone, but he also has some history with a .297 batting average and 4 Home runs off Corbin in his career over 37 At-bats.

Willy Adames, SS: $5,300. Adames has homered in his last two games as he will face Snore tonight in Milwaukee.

Taylor Ward, OF: $4,000. Ward faces Framber Valdez and the Astros tonight. He is a career .500 hitter off him in 16 At-bats. Taylor Ward is just like Taylor Swift except not quite as revered by teenage girls. He’s a solid performer.

Fernando Tatis Jr., OF: $6,000. Tatis has hit safely in 12 of 14 games with 4 Home Runs and a .841 OPS. He’ll face Louie Varland who has been plagued by the Home Run so far allowing 4 across his 2 MLB starts this year.

Mitch Haniger, OF $3,700. Thought bout going Michael Conforto as my first OF, but he can’t hit the ball at all right now. Conforto does have 5 Home runs off Corbin. Haniger doesn’t have any, but he does have a right handed bat against Corbin so game on!

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Possibly some showers in the Kansas City area tonight, but they should get it in. Strong winds there will blow across from left to right. Also, some strong winds blowing out in San Francisco, but that’s it for weather.
