Let me start out by briefly introducing myself because this is my first post here at Razzball. Literally everyone that has ever played fantasy sports thinks they are the best to ever do it. All of these people are wrong. I am the best, period.  Now that I got that off my chest, let’s head into my picks for today…

When I think of the word “Archer,” I first think of Katniss from The Hunger Games. Why? Because she is an artist with a bow and an arrow in her hands. She uses her archery skills to fight off enemies and ultimately win “the games.” Next, I think of one of the very few talented players on the Tampa Bay Rays, Chris Archer. Though Archer had a rough start to the year, he is still averaging 18 DK fantasy points per contest and has a very favorable matchup against the San Diego Padres this afternoon. A date with Archer on his home turf is never fun. He is significantly better in Tampa Bay than he is on the road. Not to mention, the Padres can’t do anything offensively unless they are facing a left-handed pitcher. Plus, believe it or not, the Rays are hot. They have somehow managed to score 35 runs in that past two games, so Archer should get the run support he needs to register a win and an extra 4 DK points. So, go ahead and take Archer at $10,600, grab your popcorn, and enjoy two bottom-of-the-league teams face-off against each other.

Carlos Carrasco, SP: $8,700 – Today is one of those days where you might be better off just paying your pitchers. Cookie Carrasco is a great place to look given he’s not all that expensive.

Zack Godley, SP: $4,200 – I guess if you were to go the route of saving money on pitchers, Godley would be your guy. He’s got the Mets which makes him a viable option.

Welington Castillo, C: $4,700 – He’s got a hot bat and he’s fantastic against lefties in Arizona. What could go wrong?

Matt Wieters, C: $2,800 – I am not a big fan of picking Orioles today, but Matt Wieters is an exception. He has faced David Price 50 times over the course of his career and has absolutely owned him. This catcher is dirt cheap today, so I’ll roll the dice and spend my money elsewhere.

Joey Votto, 1B: $5,300 – Often times I find myself spending the big bucks on a first-baseman. Today is one of those days. Votto vs Cashner is a lopsided matchup in favor of the man wearing Red.

Brandon Belt, 1B: $4,000 – I’m a big Brandon Belt fan. He always comes with a reasonable price, and he is a pretty solid all-around player. Besides, Ivan Nova is not somebody that a lefty should lose sleep over.

Ian Kinsler, 2B: $4,500 – There’s not much to this pick other than history. Kinsler has been very good against Ventura over the course of their careers. Expect a multi-hit game from Kinsler and possibly a run or two driven in.

Chase Utley, 2B: $3,900 – There is nothing better than a hot bat. That is exactly what Mr. Utley has. He blasted not one, but two homers yesterday, while driving in five runs. Though I am not overly confident in this pick, Utley is a name that should at least be tossed around given last night’s performance.

Chris Coghlan, 2B/3B: $2,900 – If you are looking for a cheap infield play, Chris Coghlan is your guy. Coghlan has tallied a hit in 7 consecutive games in which he has registered at least 3 at-bats. So, as long as he is in the starting lineup, the Cubs’ infielder will be a good way to save some money.

Corey Seager, SS: $5,000 – My conscious is really playing with me on this one. The angel on my right shoulder is licking her chops about this matchup but the devil on my left shoulder is screaming in my ear not to do it. I’m going to trust the angel on this one because, well, I like angels better than devils.

Elvis Andrus, SS: $4,200 – If you want to listen to the devil, then I’d go with Elvis Andrus. He doesn’t cost as much and, yeah…

Anthony Rendon, 3B: $4,400 – I could just say this game is at Coors, walk away, and move onto the next guy. However, I’ll add the fact that Rendon is due for a big game, throw Jon Gray on the bump, now we are talking.

Mookie Betts, OF: $5,400 – It’s so hard to keep Mookie out of my lineup. Until he stops having these multi-homer explosions, I’m going to keep playing him in tournaments.

Nelson Cruz, OF: $4,900 – His bat is hot and he is set to face a mediocre lefty. I’ll pay up for Cruz.

Tyler Naquin, OF: $4,600 – He’s just fantastic against righties and he’s playing in his own barn. That’s all you need to know.

Hernan Perez, 3B/OF: $3,300 – I know he will be going up against Jon Lester, but this price is too tough to pass up. People often forget that Perez is a skilled base stealer which is really going to come in handy in today’s game versus Lester.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

We could see a delay in Detroit due to early showers, but the game will be played. Though it’s not entirely likely, don’t be surprised if it storms in Atlanta, as well as the North Side of Chi-Town. Other than that, we should be good to play ball.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The Cubs are HEAVY favorites at home tonight against the Brewers at -250. Tonight’s other favorites include the Rays, the Rangers, and the Indians coming in at -210, -210 and -220, respectively. So, according to Vegas, there could be some one-sided games on the slate today. As far as over-unders go, Vegas has the Nats and Rockies capped out at 10.5 runs which is far from surprising considering the game will take place in Colorado.
