Our Orioles play last week went down in flames as the Orange Birds couldn’t muster a thing against Michael Grove. They did score a boatload the other two games against the Dodgers though. It is what it is, but I was heavily invested in them last Tuesday across the board and it certainly didn’t help my bankroll. We look forwards and not back however onto our DFS selections for tonight.
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, July 15th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 12-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.
New to DFS? You can start playing right now on FanDuel and put our picks to the test. Blake Snell, SP: $10,000. Last week against Toronto Snell had his streak of nine straight 20+ point DFS outings come to an end. I think he starts a new one and maybe pushes towards 30 tonight against the Pirates. The projected starting lineup for the swashbucklers is a career 5 for 36 off Snell with 17 Ks. Only Carlos Santana has taken him deep. The Pirates are fading fast and are a big fade this evening as well.
Alex Cobb, SP: $7,600. The Giants made a Monday pitstop for a makeup in Detroit on their way back from getting swept in DC and got trounced there as well. They’ve lost six in a row, and are in danger of having their season flipped upside down after an overachieving start. They will look to right the ship in a Battle Of The Bay with Oakland. Alex Cobb had an awful last start against the Reds, but Streamonator loves this spot for him to bounce back picking him as the #4 starter for the day making this a solid value play.
Francisco Alvarez, C: $3,800. So Alvarez leads catchers in Home Runs, but is only the 14th most expensive option on the card tonight. He’s got six long balls in his last 15 games. He faces Domingo German and his perfect stuff…Oh wait I meant his 4.52 ERA. I guarantee you Buck won’t let him get away with any sticky stuff tonight in New York. On a night where I expect pretty good pitching across the board I look for the Mets to bang some runs at Yankee Stadium.
Wilmer Flores, 1B: $3,400. Playing the Hot-Schmotato at first tonight in Flores. Since Lamonte Wade went down he has got most of the playing time at first base and has taken advantage of it. He’s hitting .417 in July and has five Home Runs in his last eight games. He’ll face Ken Waldichuk and his 6.75 ERA in San Fran tonight.
Ketel Marte, 2B: $5,600. Marte has been on a nice run the last week going 11 for 29 with a Home run, 7 extra base knocks, and racking up 11 RBIs. He’ll face Steven Matz tonight in the desert who he has homered off in his career in 12 at-bats.
Manny Machado, 3B: $5,400. Manny took a while to get going this year, but once July arrived he has gotten it going. He is hitting .300 this month with 10 Home Runs. He’ll face Rich Hill tonight, and he is 5 for 12 with 2 long balls off the old man in his career.
Dansby Swanson, SS: Swanson returned from the IL this weekend with a pair of 2 for 4 efforts. He’ll face Michael “Firing BBs” Kopech and his plethora of free passes tonight on the south side. In his last 5 outings over 16.2 IP he has walked 24 batters. If he has another rough outing tonight the Sox may look to use one of his options to get him straightened out.
Mike Tauchman, OF: $3,300. Since the break, he’s rocking a 1.088 OPS. He takes a lot of pitches and that should bode well for him this evening.
Cody Bellinger, OF: $4,600. Banking on the struggles of Kopech to continue here as well, but Bellinger won’t need him to struggle with control as long as he continues to hit everything thrown over the plate. Raking a cool .452 with 7 Home Runs this month the Bellinger of old may have reappeared just in time for the Cubs to trade him for some minor leaguers.
Willi Castro, OF: $2,200. Ok, Willi. Get on base twice. Steal two bases, score a run or two and we’ll call it a win at this price. If you wanna mix in a Home run off George Kirby that would be ok too.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
No Wind issues tonight. Possible weather delays or cancellations could happen in DC, Philly, Boston, and New York.
Doing Lines In Vegas
I did mention I do a bit of Sports Handicapping. Follow me on Twitter @TheGreatKnoche for more info. I’ll give out a Free Play here every Tuesday, but you can find all my free and premium picks for MLB and a few other sports at The Odds Breakers
I like the over 8.5 in Chicago tonight. I have the Cubs in the lineup above as a Kopech fade, but the White Sox have some recent history of touching up Hendriks, and Eloy and Lou Bob both have a pair of homers off him in their careers.
