Down to the last two DFS articles for the season. Not our best performance last week, but as the late Lou Brown once said, “OK, we won a game yesterday. If we win today, it’s called “two in a row”. And if we win again tomorrow, it’s called a “winning streak”… It has happened before”! That’s the hope is to help all you loyal Razzball readers to end the season on a winning streak. Let’s get to it!
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is a 12-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

Blake Snell, SP: $10,600. There’s always the chance Snell gets his pitch count up too fast and has a shorter outing, but he’s gone seven straight games with a quality start and has averaged almost strikeouts per game in that stretch. He’ll face the Rockies tonight who he has 21 Ks against this season in 11.1 IP. They stink.
Javier Assad, SP: $5,900. Back on Assad again. One bad start in Coors and his cost craters. He’ll look to bounce back tonight against the Pirates at Wrigley. In his one start against them this season at the end of August he went 7IP allowing three hits and allowed just one earned run while striking out seven.
Cal Raleigh, C: $4,200. Cal leads all catchers in Home Runs with 28 and is 2 for 7 lifetime with a home run against Paul Blackburn of the Athletics. He has 4 Homers in 83 ABs off lefties so there really only a minimal power drop off from that side of the plate.
Jose Abreu, 1B: $4,000. Jose has 4 Home runs in 40 career ABs against the Orioles Kyle Gibson. Unlike Baltimore, with this game being played in Houston I’m not afraid to play the right handed bat.
Gleyber Torres, 2B: $4,400. Torres is a career .400 hitter against Yusei Kikuchi of the Blue Jays. Gleyber hasn’t homered in 10 games so this seems like a good day to bust out of that HR slump.
Rafael Devers, 3B: $5,200. This is a steal of a price for a guy with 33 Home Runs and an .873 OPS. He’ll face Nathan Eovaldi and the Rangers. Eovaldi hasn’t gone more than 3.1 IP since coming off the IL as he continues to be ramped up slowly following a forearm strain in late July, and he hasn’t been especially effective.
Gabriel Arias, SS: $2,700. Arias is playing everyday and reached the double-digit home run level yesterday. I’m not sure who will start for Royals, but right now it looks like Steven Cruz and a bullpen game.
Daulton Varsho, OF: $3,000. Varsho finally broke a long homerless streak on Sunday and will look to build on that versus Clarke Schmidt and the Yankees.
Julio Rodriguez, OF: $6,500. J-Rod has been on an absolute tear. 6 multi-hit games in the last two weeks and six home runs. He’s 3 for 7 in his career against Paul Blackburn.
Ryan O’Hearn, OF: $3,500. The second value OF in O’Hearn will look to jump on Hunter Brown of the Astros tonight in Houston. He has his average at .295 with 13 Home Runs on the year.

I’m on the over 8.5 runs in Texas tonight. Eovaldi as discussed is still working his way back and Tanner Houck has been inconsistent the last month or so.
