Twas the Night Before Razzmas

Twas the night before Razzmas, at Razzball HQ

Not a creature did stir, frozen Jays were still Blue.

Entranced by the fireplace, thinking back on the year

How’d the season shake out, and just how’d we get here?

Once again, my RazzChildren, gather round for a spell

As I recount the year’s highs and some lows (Blue Jays’ hell).

But before we weigh in on that Fall Classic gem,

Let’s rewind to predictions, and which writers nailed them!

Your guy, Marmos, thankfully, hit the Cy Young selections

Itch and I penned in Skubal and Skenes’ top elections.

It was Laura and me – all in on Bryan Woo,

Couillie’s most valuable SP, Nate Eovaldi, too!

But, alas, there were misses, so apologies

Nick Pivetta’s first rank knocked me down at the knees.

Well, I wasn’t alone with the rookie pick hurts.

No one checked off Drake Baldwin, or the Sac-Beast, Nick Kurtz.

Once again, I dug in, and thought all would be swell

With my obsession pick, a breakout from Jo Adell!

josanta

37 HR and 98 RBI from Jo Adell? In one year? Oh…my.

Looking back to those early picks makes one really think,

And reflect on the season, time to top off the drink.

“Can we talk playoffs, now, MarmoPops?” Kids! Not yet!

Let’s peek under the tree, see what presents teams get.

To the O’s, it’s Alonso, Ryan Helsley, and Ward!

Hippy Pirate that Yarbrough’s a Yank? (Yawn, I’m bored.)

Speaking of, PNC added Mangum and Lowe

Not to rhyme Christmas bows, but rev snow plows for thou

One more big time inking, contact foe Murakami

Meditation begins, someone ring up a swami!

For there may be a need for some spiritual healing

And the strikeouts that opposing arms will be dealing.

LAA’s new Manoah? GrayRod’s shoulder could yelp.

Edwin Diaz a Dodger? They need any more help?!

Still to sign, Bregman, Tucker, and some guy they call Bo.

Comeback kid for your Marmo, and a Razzball heel, yo.

BO

18 HR, 94 RBI, .311, in 139 GP? Not bad for a comeback call.

Wait, what’s that up on the rooftop? Charlie Brown’s sister, Sally?

Is it Santa with even more bombs for Cal Raleigh?

Another, Nick Kurtz, flipped the league and showed them

Tampa’s best Junior rookie since young Griffey’s dad’s M’s.

But, alas, Marmo-children, they all want just one thing

Absent since 1990s, they do yearn for a ring!

‘Twas a heartbreaking Game Seven, looking to slay

The behemoth, but even our Yesavage , Trey

Came up short, yes, Jays needed a good bullpen boost

They don’t give out a ‘ship for “Best Clubhouse Produced”

Sure, it’s tough when you’re up against Ohtani – DANGER!

The most magical dude since that kid from the manger.

Oh shoot, yet once again, seems I’ve drifted off course.

So forget the reindeer, hop back up on the horse.

Will Toronto’s retool be enough for fall glory?

In a year without Kershaw’s retirement story?

Let’s not get far ahead, there’s a New Year that’s nigh

And I’m sure much more tears from some fans that they’ll cry.

Since with every guy signing, beefing up other clubs,

The rebuilding teams sure won’t see too many dubs.

Peering out frosted windows, oh, the weather’s quite scary

But at Razzball HQ, we’re prepping for January!

We’ve still got C&C, Mike and Jeremy’s Pod,

And those early-year ranks from Sir Grey need a nod.

As for me, “Top 100? When can we sift through this?”

‘Bout a month to wait for the content that won’t miss!

In the meantime, in my snow hut, writing hockey I’ll be

Even if syntax errors from Yoda still haunt me.

I’ll be back very soon with my year’s Marmo-calls

And some names that are due for some ADP falls.

“Any tidbits or sneak peeks, before April showers?”

Cody Ponce? A quick write-up? Modern Day Kenny Powers?

2025 KBO stats: 17-1, 1.89 ERA, 12.55 K/9, and a 2.0 BB/9. Um…what?

Well, the rankings I’m working on in Google docs,

And prepping my annual megaphone and soapbox.

Some spots, sure, you might say that my thinking is whack.

But find out, in a month, you’ll just have to come back!

Nodded off in the chair, and the fire’s almost out

Amid cozy dreams of LABR wins, maybe Tout.

Unplug all the tree lights, scratch the ears of the pup

Best to get to bed now, kids’ll soon wake me up.

One last check out the window, and I think that I spy

A red dot flying high in the winter night’s sky.

I can barely hear calls from that guy in his sleigh,

“Happy Holidays, all, from Truss, Rudy, and Grey!”

Best wishes to all of the writers, readers, and the entire Razzball family. Health and happiness for a prosperous 2026! I’ll see you all in a month! MarmosDad.
