Would appreciate your input on my line up after I picked up Kurtz and Casey Schmitt in a trade
:
Certain positions for now are set:
C: William Contreras
1B: Alonso
2B: Casey Schmitt
CF: Trout
RF: Acuna
DH: Kurtz
This leaves decisions about 3B, SS and LF.
At 3B, I have either Muncy (@AZ,LAA), Bichette (@Sea,@SD) or Austin Riley (Tor,Pitt) or Antonacci (@Minn,@Phil).
at SS, I have either Henderson (@Boston/@Tor), Bichette (@Sea,@SD)
3.Who would you play this week?
in LF, I have Abreu (Balt,@NYY), Antonacci (@Minn,@phil) and Bauers (SF,@CO)
4.Who would you start?
I had an empty slot due to a trade and picked up Edwin Arroyo who is 3B and SS eligible.
5. Was this a good move?
6. Would you cut Arroyo and pick up Eury Perez who will be out 6-8 weeks.
Thanks!!!
Hey Martin!
For 3B, I’d go with Muncy. For SS, I’d go with Gunnar. For LF, I’d go Abreu (but Bauers is super tempting with that visit to Colorado).
Regarding how to make the decisions, the answer on how to decide is “yes to all the above.” Those are exactly the data points I consider when making the decision. A few others I consider not included in your list are:
Picking up Arroyo for now is reasonable with the free roster spot. Never hurts to use a free space on a call-up like Arroyo to see if he hits the ground running. That said, I’m not terribly enthused about him – not the greatest batted ball profile and he swings at pitches out of the zone a tad too much – but if he produces while Elly is out, he could get a regular lineup spot for rest of season. I’d hold Arroyo over Eury – I’ll typically take the healthy bat over a pitcher set to miss two months.
