Some nasty, wet weather saw a couple of games postponed this week. That will not dampen my DFS outlook for Saturday. I am a man of the people and the people want DFS picks. So, what have we learned so far? Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is really, REALLY good even though he looks like a beer […]

Weekly Razzball news delivered straight to your inbox.
Hello Razzaddies! The Razzbulance has pulled into the station to unload this week’s casualties for your Razzball fantasy baseball weekly injury report. As you walk through the injuries, take note of how many oblique injuries show up on the list (SPOILER ALERT: there are seven). That will be an interesting trend to watch this season. […]

(NOTE: THIS POST WAS RELEASED EARLY THIS WEEK ON OUR PATREON. IT’S $10/MONTH.)
You ever call up the Utz Potato Chip corporate office and ask to speak with that “cute chick on the bags?” You ever poke your right eye out and tell your friends to call you Natty Boh? You ever walk around a deserted park with a group of tourists showing them where Adnan Syed allegedly buried Hae Lee? You ever sell crack in Hamsterdam? No? What kind of Marylandian are you? Do you even have charm to fill a city, bro? You never ate a sandwich cookie and called it a Baltim-oreo? Never?! Dude, I don’t even know you. No wonder why you don’t already have Jorge Mateo on your team! So, somehow in last week’s Buy, when I was telling you about a ton of shortstops to look for on your waivers, I forgot our old stand-buy, Jorge Mateo. Apologies, but now’s when we make it right. Mateo had a year in the minors when he went 7/49. Sure it was ancient years ago, and he’s been in the minors for over a decade, but he’s still only 27 years old, and he still has just about the fastest sprint speed in the majors. He can steal 40+ bags this year. Will he get on base enough for that? P to the erhaps, but he also has 10+ homer power. He’s basically Myles Straw, but with middle infield eligibility. I’d suck that old Buy up for a dollar (and dribble it back out on some lovely crab cakes)! Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hello, deep league friends! The season is just now a week old as I type this, and my draft season is finally over as of about 48 hours ago. It is amazing looking at how differently players are being valued in the drafts I did this week, versus those I did a week ago, versus […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?It is week 2 in your Head to Head battles and hopefully, last weeks’ nuggets were taken with a little bit of BBQ sauce, because they were bland. I won’t claim to be clairvoyant, but with effort will come results! Let’s keep with the program and grind away. As with most H2H leagues, you could easily see that 9-1 win in Week 1 manifests into a 1-9 Week 2. The key to coming out ahead are the small details. Hopefully we look into the crystal ball and give each of you that edge that we all need. I have found that in any game, there are certain “codes” to obtaining desired results. When growing up, and even into “adulthood”, I have used 007-373-5963 as my code to success. If you have any clue to the code, please give me a shout in the comments or @natemarcum. Let’s get into “Getting Ahead in Head to Head”
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Friday y’all! I hope it’s a “Good” Friday for all of you reading, and there are few things that can perk up a Friday more than putting a few extra digital dollars in your account playing DFS. The term “no-brainer” implies a decision that is so easy, so simple, so lacking possible folly, that […]

Motivational speaker, Manny Machado, entered the Padres’ clubhouse before yesterday’s contest and asked new head coach, Bob Melvin, if he could speak. His teammates’ rapt attention centered on Manny, and he spoke, “I won’t always run hard to first, 2nd, third or home. I will usually ask for a golf cart to take me out to 3rd base between innings. When it’s my time in the on-deck circle, I will ask the umps if I can put on water wings and slap around in a kiddie pool. When that clock strikes April 19th, I will check out until sometime in July. But I am telling you right now, you have every piece of me from this moment here, until roughly ten o’clock on April 18th, then again sometime in July. And I will take you where you need to go, so hop on!” And with that Wil Myers stood and began to clap at first. Then he elbowed Eric Hosmer (4-for-5, 1 run, 2 RBIs), who was dreaming of grounding out to 2nd base, and he stood and clapped too. And, before anyone knew it, the entire clubhouse was in a rousing ovation for their leader, Manny Machado — the best clubhouse guy a team could hope for. Then, as the ovation began to dissipate, Machado asked Luke Voit if he could drive the golf cart that would take him out to the field. So, yesterday, Manny Machado (5-for-6, 4 runs, 2 RBIs) hit his 1st homer, a 111 MPH shot into left field, and two steals for the magnificent slam and double legs. This was Machado’s 2nd career five-hit night. Five hits, 4 runs, 2 SBs with a homer in a game had only been done three times since 1987 — Andrew McCutchen, Carl Crawford and Tony Gwynn. Machado gets a bad rap; he does usually put up top 25 overall type numbers, as long as Voit continues to gas up the golf cart. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Anytime I can write and talk about a fellow Asian baseball player in MLB, the two miniscule hairs on my arms perk up. So, Steven Kwan it was supposed to be, but he’s the toast of the town and there will be thousands of articles written about him. He is Grey’s new Asian boy toy. Did you know that Grey has an Asian fetish? There’s Jay, me, and BDon. So, as much as I wanted to espouse about the Kwan, that is not my role at Razzball. As Jesus took in the lepers and poor, I dumpster dive into the trash and write up the stinky, shitty, and scraps in the fantasy baseball streets. This is why I get paid the big bucks. Kolten Wong is on a number of my teams. Was he ever going to be a league winner? Niet but double-digit home runs and steals were expected with decent plate discipline numbers. So far in 2022, he’s been awful, going 3-for-21 with five strikeouts. As a result, he’s been dropped by 8.4% of teams in ESPN leagues. So, this begs the question? What has been so Wong with Kolten?
Please, blog, may I have some more? The blurbs have a lot to offer in the early going of a given fantasy season. A ton of players get micro-levels of attention at this point, and you must zoom out like me hate-quitting a video conference to remember that we drafted a team of players we like. Stick with that team. Let it accumulate a significant girth of numbers. Give your hitters at least 100 at-bats to normalize, and know that you should probably wait for 150 at-bats. Well, let me tell you a fable.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Does it make you cry when you make the wrong choice for your fantasy team? Have you considered just being better? That’s the Steven Kwan method and its been working out pretty well for him (and his fantasy managers) so far. As Grey and B_Don so astutely brought up on the podcast, Kwan is a Michael Brantley type player. He won’t blow you away with power or speed, but he makes contact at a rate that we really don’t see that often in today’s game. That also makes him a points league hero. I told you to grab him last week and he’s been the real deal. I can’t take all the credit of course, RazzballHQ has has had his bronze bust up for months. He finally struck out today, so now is your chance to buy. All kidding aside, there will be a rough patch as pitchers and catchers get more tape on him, but he will be a guy you want on your roster. His performance has been so awesome that his AL Rookie of the Year odds have shifted to +600 (third best) all the way up from +5000. If your league still hasn’t caught on to what he’s doing, scoop him ASAP. If he’s already on a roster, take a peek at the guys below who have gotten off to a strong start.
Please, blog, may I have some more? With eight and a half weeks of the college baseball season in the books, we are officially past the midpoint of the regular season. An everyday position player should have roughly 130 at bats or so under his belt, which is where pants are located, meaning said player is now wearing approximately 650 pitches as slacks. Depending on how many holes are in that swing, that may or may not be family-friendly attire. Transitioning to the mound, a healthy weekend starter should be coming off his eighth start of the year. That’s enough data to begin moving prospects up and down the rankings, especially those who opened the season outside of our Preseason Top 25 College Prospects for the 2022 MLB Draft and are now firmly in that conversation — if not written into it with a big, fat, smelly Sharpie that makes Billy, your asthmatic friend from second grade, have to take yet another trip to the nurse’s office. The first of the three players I’ll discuss today falls into the latter category, while the second prospect is on the brink. The third has yet to sniff that territory, but that’s a matter of draft leverage more than it is a reflection on his pure talent level. All three emerging college prospects will make their Razzball debuts in this week’s Collegiate Corner, and I urge you to follow up with the analysis in the comments section. Grab some fresh pants, tighten your belt buckles, grab a Sharpie and a clothespin for Billy’s nose, and let’s get to it.
Please, blog, may I have some more? It’s “Shotime” in Arlington today and the Rangers would do well to have the most famous Texas Ranger on the bump to face off with Shohei Ohtani. Ohtani is a great pitcher and all…but he’s no Chuck Norris! Or is he? As everyone knows, “Chuck Norris doesn’t throw a baseball, it just leaves his hand […]
