The regular season comes to a close this week, and so do I. Reflecting on a season of awesome, I am reminded of the most memorable moments for me in 2022. Albert Pujols hitting 700 and retiring with his best friend, Yadier Molina. Molina breaking the all-time battery record with his pal, Adam Wainwright. Aaron […]

Please, blog, may I have some more?Major League Baseball isn’t supposed to look this easy this deep into a guy’s career. Miguel Cabrera’s got five homers on the year! Albert Pujols now has more homers than everyone in the league since August 14th, except for Aaron Judge, and he doesn’t have less homers than Judge, he has the same amount! All the hype about Judge and Pujols has same number of homers as Judge over the last six weeks! Pujols is 78 years old, and has 15 homers since August 14th! I don’t care if they’re meatballing him and Rob Manfred is sticking a PEDs needle in Pujols’s butt after he exits the shower. This is incredible. This isn’t supposed to be possible by a guy heading to the grand sunset over the bleachers. Yesterday, Albert Pujols went 2-for-2, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 23rd homer, as he hits .268. He’s having a better season than Eloy Jimenez! On top of everything yesterday, Pujols tied Babe Ruth for 2nd on the all-time RBIs list with 2,214. That is such an absurd number of RBIs. Go ahead, and average 110 RBIs for 20 years, and you get close! Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more? With the season winding down, this is the time of the year when clubs take a look at some of their top prospects.
For the Colorado Rockies, they have been giving their young players extended looks for much of the season. In fact, Rockies fans have been given a preview of what 75% of their infield may look like in 2023.
ROOKIES IN THE ROCKIES
Elehuris Montero was once a top 100 prospect, ranked 81st by Baseball America in its 2019 preseason rankings. But after a rough 2019 campaign, he fell out of the rankings and finished the 2021 season as the club’s fourth overall best prospect.
A third baseman, Montero can also play first base and has seen time at designated hitter as well with the Rockies. Third base or designated hitter will likely be his home in the future thanks to Michael Toglia.
The Rockies have been high on Togila for years. The switch-hitter was drafted by Colorado in the 35th round of the 2016 draft and then again by the Rockies in 2019, this time as the 23rd overall pick.
While Montero and Toglia have more than 100 at-bats in the majors, a third rookie is getting a chance to show his skill on the Major League level. That rookie is shortstop Ezequiel Tovar. He is not the power hitter the other two area. Instead his top tool is his defense and the ability to hit and steal some bases.
So let’s dive right in and take a deeper look at these three players.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Good luck on the last three days of the season. It’s a 6-month grind and we all deserve a little gratification. It’s always nice to reflect on the year that was. So, who surprised you the most this season (good or bad)? Which player are you really excited for next season? In terms of advice […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? It’s been an incredible season! This marks my final article of the year, and it’s been a blast writing about streamers for the past six months. This final month has been chaotic with rotational changes, and this week could be the worst of them all. We have an abbreviated three-day week to end the regular […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The plan for today’s article is pretty complex in its simplicity. I set out to build a championship-level redraft team for 2023 using only rookies from 2022.
C: Adley Rutschman
C: MJ Melendez
1B: Jose Miranda
2B: Vaughn Grissom
3B: Bobby Witt Jr.
SS: Oneil Cruz
MI: Jeremy Peña
CI: Gunnar Henderson
This infield is good. Might not win us the league, but getting steals all around the diamond puts us on a winning path. Not just because speed is increasingly rare but because these steals come from middle-order hitters with power.
Catcher is a pretty clear win. I suppose the Sal Perez team has a leg-up on you if they’ve got anyone in the C2 spot, but aside from that, we’ve got a top-of-the-scale catching duo.
Please, blog, may I have some more?I remember the day fairly clearly. It was springtime a few years ago and I was out taking the dog for a walk. That welcome and very bright March sun had started to melt away the snow, and I had downloaded one of the podcasts where the guys were talking about the Razzslam and its […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? There are a couple of teams still vying for Wild Card and also some jockeying for division crowns. I think this is the time to load up on players from those teams are there is simply no days off for those teams. Couple that with teams that are currently locked into the playoffs that need […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? This is it, friends! We’re almost at the end of the line for regular season baseball in 2022, and I hope the season has treated you well. If it hasn’t, well, at least we had a season… remember back in March when it actually looked like it might not happen at all? Anyhow, I want […]
