For many of us today is a day of celebration; we spend time with community, with family, we eat way too freaking much, and it is glorious. May fat and happy be the goal for us all today. Let’s fill our waistlines, lean back and enjoy the feast before us.

And what better way to pack on the pounds than with James Paxton ($9,600). It was meant to be; we have to play him. It’s a good thing he’s also a great value. He should be the cornerstone of our lineup construction this slate. He is coming off a 70 point performance against Boston, he has elite velocity that gets better as the game rolls on, and he is facing a team that is in the bottom tier against LHP. Paxton is the best value on the slate by a good margin, and he should be owned in a sizable chunk of our lineups, possibly upwards of 40-50 percent.  Now, let’s take a look at the rest of our favorite picks for the FanDuel main slate.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Kyle Gibson, SP: $6,100 – He has not pitched late into games, which hurts his likelihood of the all-important win and quality start, but he eyeball-tested well to start the game last week and is facing a weak opponent this time around in the Orioles.

Jose Abreu, C/1B: $2,900 – True, he is slumping compared to his usual production, but that just means he’s due. That’s how this works, right? Abreu faces Bud Norris tomorrow with the wind softly out to center.

Chris Davis, C/1B: $2,300 – Including him here to commemorate the end of his extended run as a $500 player. This is not an endorsement to play him for $1,800 more than what we had become accustomed, except possibly as a flyer in a few lineups.

Arizona Diamondback stacks – A lot to like with the value plays with Arizona facing Chatwood in Chicago with the wind heading out at 8-10 mph. Wilmer Flores > Jarrod Dyson > Ildemaro Vargas > Eduardo Escobar > David Peralta > Ketel Marte.

Corey Seager, SS: $3,400 – Still working his way back to peak performance, Seager is a bit of an all-or-nothing play. He faces Brandon Woodruff in a homer-friendly park, hitting near the top of a potent lineup. There’s a lot to like here. Potential stack with Justin Turner, Cody Bellinger and Joc Pederson, though it’s an expensive one at $15,600.

Minnesota Twins OF stack – A stack of Nelson Cruz, Eddie Rosario and Max Kepler will cost you $10,900. While not the cheapest OF stack out there, the production potential is huge here, facing Dylan Bundy in a ballpark where the Twins just hit eight home runs in the back end of a double header.

It’s Gonna Be a Bright (Bright), Bright (Bright) Sun-Shiny Day

Looks like perfect weather for all games today and for most of the continent. Get out and fly a kite.
