Well, baseball is finally back. And boy, were there some things to talk about. Welcome to another installment of This Week In Razz, a review of what you might have missed while being productive at your respective workplace (I’m productive at least three times a day, if you know what I mean. Wink-wink. You know… Wink-wink. I’m talking about masturbation), or maybe you were busy enjoying the nicer weather (your mileage may vary), or perhaps you were too busy watching hockey. Just kidding, no one knows what that is or what it does. Except maybe the utlra-pleasant people of Minnesota, but that’s only because it roughly takes a decade for the local baseball team to score anything higher than zero. I’d resort to watching soccer for their high-scoring affairs at that point. Regardless, follow me after the jump to take a look back AND a look forward on all things Razzball, including some player suggestions for next week, straight from Razzball’s Streamonator, Hitter-Tron, and DFSBot!

This Past Week…

With the eventual Kris Bryant honeymoon wearing off, we had to start focusing on something younger, newer, and shinier, and so naturally, that player was…Stephen Vogt? Hunh? Well, okay then. Seth, our deep league provocateur went over his thoughts on Vogt, and then Grey listed him as a buy for the upcoming scoring period. But let’s not forget, I called him a top-5 catcher this year as one of my bold predictions, meaning that if the season ended tomorrow, I’d be right. So I’m right until tomorrow… yeah, I’m okay with that.

Did you have a knife fight over the ranking of hitters by J-FOH this past week? If you answered yes to that question, the time has come to upgrade to projectile weapons. Like bricks. Or Nerf footballs. (Why not both?) If you answered no, then you’re probably doing life wrong.

Grey joined JB Gilpin on the RazzPod to talk about the RCL Draft that many of us partook in (they didn’t mention my team at all, which, to be honest, is the best praise one can get) and went over some of their 2015 Razzball picks that are also in written form. You know, in case you like reading stuff. I’m assuming that you do…

Lance went over some names who are readily available that might net you some saves and steals, and totally not related, Mike gave a preview on what to expect for prospect content this season.

Someone should probably tell Paul that no one is drafting anymore, but just in case, he goes over some auction strategy and the effectiveness of “freeze bids”. Is it weird that I thought of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s “Mr. Freeze” when typing that? Yeah, you’re right, that is kinda weird. Regardless, it’s pretty good stuff and is worthy of your time. I mean… I’m taking it up right now, so it must not have been that worthy anyhow.

Rudy had an interesting piece on how a pitcher’s last three starts may or may not affect the next start’s outcome. I always joke around that you’ll need a calculator for his posts, but I think the joke was on me. You actually do need a calculator…

Blues (not bluegrass) went over some DL strategy in OPS leagues, but it’s a good read for regular formats as well. And if you’re looking for Points League content, Malamoney has you covered.

Our first Bullpen Report landed, and Smokey went over some closing jobs that have already gotten muddled. He does not explain, however, why I would describe this series as an airplane or some other aeronautical device or machine that requires a landing.

Do you own Starlin Castro? If you do, you should probably read Magoo‘s thoughts on the matter. There was a Skip Schumaker name drop, but I can’t determine if it was for the good or bad of all man kind.

Next Week…

The Streamonator has Gio Gonzalez as your best pitcher in Week 2, but still projects him with more walks than 271 pitchers… yep, that’s Gio Gonzalez in a nutshell. And seeing as how he should be owned at a 100% rate, you should look into Jake Peavy (6.0 IP, 2 ER, 5.2 K projected) or even Brandon Morrow (5.6 IP, 1.8 ER, 5.2 K projected). Though, the computer also projected an oblique explosion for Morrow as well, so tread carefully.

The Hitter-Tron really loves Mike Trout this week, but since he’s owned in every single league, even leagues that have removed him from the league universe (probably leagues that were formed in North Korea), you should probably look at Nori Aoki, Alejandro De Aza, and Yonder Alonso. All three are expected to have good weeks and should be on your wire.

Be sure to check in everyday for our Daily Fantasy content, led by Sky and company. They’ll be bringing you all the tips and strategy you need to win that cash-monies. Our DFSBot is also there to help guide your way to that aforementioned cash-monies. Mmmm, cash-monies.

Want more of the Jay? Don’t we all folks? Don’t. We. All. Well, you, in fact, can have more. AMAZING. I know. You can find Jay enjoying his dig’s over at the Football side of Razz.
