Psst! This post is gonna list 2nd basemen that you should target in your 2022 fantasy baseball drafts. I’m whispering because you don’t want everyone to see this post. No, I can’t whisper louder, then it WOULDN’T BE WHISPERING! Okay, gig’s up (or maybe that’s jig’s up), the love I’m about to reiterately (Made Up Word of the Day!) confirm is on these guys I love later in drafts. I’m not going to mention Ketel Marte other than this one mention of him where I say I’m not going to mention him. At least that’s my apophasis and I’m sticking to it! These are players that you’re looking at later and all of them have ADPs after 200 (unlike Marte; okay, two non-mentions). Some could be the 2nd baseman on your team, they are more than likely MIs. This is a (legal-in-all-countries-except-Canada) supplement to the top 20 2nd basemen for 2022 fantasy baseball. Click on the player’s name where applicable to read more and see their 2022 projections. Anyway, here’s some 2nd basemen to target for 2022 fantasy baseball:

Brendan Rodgers (Yahoo 207) The problem with this post. It’s a little problem. Not a big problem that is a dealbreaker or something, but it’s worth mentioning. It’s a problem with all sleepers, really. They are not replacements for drafting a player much earlier. I’m not saying, “Hey, Ketel Marte, cool story, bro, but I don’t need you, I have Brendan Rodgers!” These guys are fine fantasy baseball sleepers, but they’re going after 200 overall for a reason. The 1st basemen to target went like this: 1st Basemen from 115th overall to 300th overall are all the same, so have a Pepsi and a smile. 2nd basemen are not that. Rodgers after 200th overall is fine, but he’s not Jorge Polanco, who ESPN and Yahoo have around 100th overall, a value I like better than Rodgers. Rodgers’s is basically a play that he will find literallky every aspect of his game that he’s shown no sign of in the majors. Wow, that was a very positive blurb!

Jonathan Schoop (ESPN 217, Yahoo 225) Schoop’s a good guy to put your hand over his name and just look at his projections vs. guys going way higher. 23 HRs, .264 are his projections. Difference between that and Javier Baez is 14 steals.

Eduardo Escobar (ESPN 256, Yahoo 237) Cover his name and you see Javier Baez minus 10 steals and minus .20 on average from Schoop, but more power and counting stats upside. Confused yet?

Josh Rojas (NFBC 225, ESPN 239, Yahoo 239) I ranked Rojas at 231, and ESPN and Yahoo ranked him at 239. Are they Price Is Right’ing me?! You ain’t gonna win the the jacooz and Sebring! That jacooz and Sebring is gonna be mines! So, this offseason, the Diamondbacks said they had only room for one Big Red, and let Kole Calhoun walk, dedicating their collective energies to Rojas. He appears to have their leadoff slot locked down, and, without signing someone else, I can’t imagine Rojas hitting worse than third. The Diamondbacks have literally three hitters in their lineup. If Rojas can go 150+ games, due to health, can’t see him ever being taken out of the lineup. So, even if there’s no big power or speed, he could back into 575+ ABs. Quite the endorsement!

Luis Urias (Yahoo 227) Already gave you my Luis Urias sleeper. It was written while shaking my damn head at Kanye.

Abraham Toro (NFBC 252, ESPN unranked, Yahoo 355) Already gave you my Abraham Toro sleeper. It reminded me of something that I forgot almost as soon thereafter. For what it’s Cronenworth, the sleeper was written prior to the trade of Winker and Eugenio, but if I could place a bet on Toro becoming the 3rd baseman and Eugenio being benched, I would.

Andres Gimenez (NFBC 259, ESPN unranked, Yahoo 324) Pam’s plus one aka And-Gim, is, as of the writing of this, at least, at exactly 259 on our NFBC 15-team rankings. What does he win for that? A jacooz and Sebring! Okay, I’ll let that go now. And-Gim feels forgotten. When he came up, people were pointing to his 30-steal speed. Waving their arms like one of those car lot blow-ups at his contact. Saying, “Hey, he could hit .280 or better!” Gesticulating towards his power, “Maybe he can hit 15-plus homers,” they’d say. But all of that is in the past, because he’s…wait for it…here it comes…are you ready…crap, I forgot it in the car…one second…*runs outside, can’t find it in the car, realizes it’s been in my pocket the entire time…* He’s a whole 23 years old!

Garrett Hampson (NFBC 268, ESPN unranked, Yahoo 264) Now that I think about it, Hampson and Rodgers sounds like a composer duo, and they have the same issues. There’s some kind of nebulous promise here or, and bear with me here, IS THERE NO PROMISE HERE?! Beginning to think we might want to lean on the latter like a teamster. Rockies’ farm system might just be crap at producing major league-viable production. For every Arenado and Trevor Story, there’s about a dozen Hilliards, and Hampsons. David Dahl, anyone?

Nick Madrigal (NFBC 313, ESPN 294, Yahoo 313) Cubs’ middle infield was going to be Dinkers/No-Effin-Chance-for-a-Blast. Now? I’m not sure with Andrelton Simmons. But for a very late speed and batting average play, I can still sing Madrigal’s praises.

Nico Hoerner (NFBC 461, ESPN unranked, Yahoo 375) Prolly more Dinkers than No-Effin-Chance-for-a-Blast, but still far from a slugger. If you draft both Nick and Nico, you’re gonna be Hoerny for power.

Tony Kemp (NFBC 433, ESPN unranked, Yahoo unranked) A’s are filming a sequel this year called Don’t-Have-Moneyball. In the role of Billy Beane made famous by Brad Pitt is the one and only Carrot Top, and in the role of Player #1 Who Will Hit Leadoff and Get 600 At-Bats is Tony Kemp!
