There just wasn’t enough time in the preseason for me to show you my RCL team, so I’m putting it in the podcast post.  Now, prepare yourself for the most confusing lede paragraph ever.  For the podcast, Rudy and I went over some preseason picks for Most Valuable Fantasy Hitter, Pitcher, Rookie of the Year, Fantasy Bust and the player who looks primed to breakout that won’t actually breakout.  Finally, Larry Schechter joined Nick to talk about some of his do’s and don’ts to win fantasy leagues.  Now, for the RCL league, Rudy and I decided to do something different do this year and have half of our league made up of writers from our site and the other half from friends of other sites.  Let’s call it a Family & Friends league; that doesn’t sound derivative of anyone else’s expert fantasy league. (I was gonna call it Friends & Family, but that DID sound derivative.)   The Razzball writers joining me were:  Rudy, Jay(Wrong), Sky, Tehol, Prospect Scott, Nick the Podcast Host and Scooby.  Okay, I made up the Scooby name, but it didn’t sound that out of place, did it?  The ‘perts from other sites participating were:  Dalton Del Don from Yahoo, Brad Johnson from Fangraphs, Ryan Carey of Mastersball, Paul Singman of Baseball Prospectus and Tim McLeod of RotoRob.  The draft went off without a hitch until I opened the draft window and saw Rudy had the first pick.  *shakes fist*  Ruuuuuudy!!!  Anyway, here’s the Razzball Podcast (now with my RCL team recap):

I LIKE THE TEAM, BUT I CAN’T RECONCILE SOMETHING….HOW DID YOU DRAFT COLE BEFORE TEHERAN WHEN THEY’RE REVERSED IN YOUR RANKINGS?!

Gerrit Cole is much higher in ESPN rankings and I don’t own Cole anywhere else, so I decided to reach for Cole over Teheran, figuring Teheran or Cobb would be there for the next round, and it worked out just as I planned….Muahahahahahaha.  That was an evil laugh, in case, ya know, didn’t know.  Same goes for Cashner.  I like Cashner and didn’t own him anywhere, so I figured dubya tee eff, let’s get Rowdy Roddy on this draft and smash a coconut over my pitching staff.  In the end, I still took guys I like, except C.J. Wilson, but that was just my last round pick because I know he gets the Mariners and Astros in his first two starts.  Stream-o-Nator!

DO YOU OWN ALEX WOOD EVERYWHERE OR AM I SEEING DOUBLE?

Nope, you’re not seeing double and if all of my fantasy teams mean anything, I expect the Braves to win the division with only two pitchers.  I have Wood and Teheran literally everywhere.  Didn’t exactly set out to do this, but Wood is always sitting there late and Teheran is invariably going later than I have him ranked.  You know what I’m really looking forward to?  Braves road trips to Metco and Crayola Canyon.  Bring on those pesky Marlins!

YOUR HITTING IS GOOD AND ALL BUT WHY DOES IT MAKE ME YAWN?

I feel ya on that.  I like Pujols a lot as a bounce back and Kinsler and Ryan Zimmerman and Adam Jones and Jay Bruce…BUT WHERE’S PUIG?!  That’s what my team is missing, upside.  I have nothing but downside.  Not sure if I have one hitter that we haven’t seen the best of, besides Middlebrooks, and he’s batting ninth.  Aoki is solid, I like him, he’s good on this team, but what’s his upside?  12 HRs, 25 SBs?  Okay.  Brantley is one of my BFFs, but where’s Brad Miller?  I want Brad Miller now, please.  I think I’m gonna go drop Corey Hart for Cody Asche right now just to feel alive.
