For the second straight week, we have a new Razzball Commenter League overall leader. MasterofGrond’s Waco Night Terrors (Imposing Sea Creatures) moved up from 5th place as they had their best week of the season in steals (13) and saves (9), as well as a fine 2.05 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. They were also among the league-leaders in runs with 54. Norichika Aoki (7 Runs/4 SB) and Rajai Davis (6 SB) were key, along with Max Scherzer, Justin Masterson, Madison Bumgarner, and A.J. Burnett.

Check out the Master Standings (you can also access them via the Leagues menu up top) to see where your team ranks in comparison to the other 767 teams through Sunday. The page now includes sortable stats.

There are now 617 different players rostered in the RCL, including 172 that are owned in all 64 leagues. Fifteen players are available in just one league, and will probably soon be added in the 64th, like Carl Crawford and Tehol-favorite Domonic Brown. 68 players are owned in only one league, 24 of which were added this week (such as Andre Rienzo, Boone Logan, Brandon Kintzler, Charlie Culberson, and Todd Helton).

League News: The ECFBL is now alone at the top with a League Competitive Index of 105, followed by Cougars Welcomed and Humm Baby at 104. They are tops in Runs, RBI, Steals, Saves, ERA, and WHIP, as well as being tied with Cougars Welcomed for the home run lead. Three leagues have 4 teams in the Top 100 overall – Beef SAGNOF!, Greybies, and Original Recipe. Five more have 3 teams in the Top 60, led by Epic Beardmen Division, who have 3 in the first 35. The others are International Razzball, Cracking The WHIP, No Guts No Glory, and, of course, the ECFBL. Some tight races are shaping up around the RCL. In Smokey’s Harem, 3 teams are within one-and-a-half points of the leader, Fightin’ Shardana. In Hu Are Yu, 2.5 points separate the top 4. Six teams are battling in You Say Potato.

EXPERTS: There was no change in the positions this week, but things did tighten up. Just 6-and-a-half points separate the top 5 teams. expjul29 Dr. Roto was last in batting average (.230) and WHIP (1.34) to allow Rudy to narrow the gap. Rudy had nice pitching numbers, including a 1.95 ERA and league-best 0.98 WHIP. They only translated to 2 wins, though. Derek Carty gained 2-and-a-half points, leading the league with 49 runs and 47 RBI. Bret Sayre led in batting average (.302) and home runs (14). Ray Guillfoyle added 3.5 points with the best ERA (1.55) while throwing the most innings at 75.2. Grey hit .247 and had an ERA of 4.85 to drop a couple of points, but remained in 6th place. He did record 8 saves. You can find all Expert League unofficial Week 17 stats here.

Writers: Tehol Beddict continued to roll over the competition, stretching his lead to 13 points. His pitching was especially strong, garnering 7 wins and 9 saves with an ERA of 1.85 and 0.92 WHIP.  Andrew Nordmeier had even better pitching ratios (0.97/0.91). Jaywrong topped the league with 52 runs and 11 saves and gained 3 points in the standings. Scott and Sky also added points this week.  Check out all the writers’ week 17 stats.

All trading ends at NOON (Eastern time) FRIDAY. 9 am on the West Coast. 6 am in Hawaii. 10 am in Saskatchewan. 5 pm in London. 7 am Saturday in Auckland. Teams are starting to reach the 180-game limit on pitching starts, so some aces may be available. Check the standings page for your league to see who is running out of starts and may be willing to deal. Team Web (Razzball League) reached 180 on Thursday and traded Justin Verlander for Mariano Rivera on the weekend. Verlander was also packaged with Rafael Soriano in a deal for Curtis Granderson. Jose Bautista was traded twice, yielding Everth Cabrera in one league and Cliff Lee and Antonio Bastardo in another. Ryan Zimmerman was also dealt twice, once for Glen Perkins and once for Jered Weaver and Francisco Rodriguez. Yasiel Puig was dealt for Edward Mujica, and was also part of 2 multi-player deals. In a 10-player swap, he was traded with Billy Butler, Nolan Arenado, Jordan Zimmermann, and Erasmo Ramirez for Pedro Alvarez, Dexter Fowler, Joaquin Benoit, Drew Smyly, and Brad Ziegler. Starling Marte and Eric Young Jr. were acquired for Puig, Jayson Werth, and Jake Peavy. You can check out all the trades in the Fantasy Baseball Forums. Look for the RCL under the heading “Everything Else.” Also, be sure to check the player rater for “Rest of Season” projections when you’re considering a trade.

  1. OaktownSteve says:

Hey Vin what’s the name of the Champions league?

      • OaktownSteve says:

RIV seems like one of RCLs best. How is podcast dork second in that league having made only 14 moves? Starts with L and rhymes with a common vulgarity?

        • VinWins

          VinWins says:

          @OaktownSteve: Ah, Lamb, right.

  2. MasterofGrond says:

Been dancing around in the top 5 for a month and a half, it’s nice to be leading when the weekly update rolls around for once, haha.

Thanks for the update, as always!

      Grey says:

      Nicely done!

  3. Atomic says:

Wood Street Wonders! Its a close one this year. My RCL league last year only had 2 teams paying attention by the end, so this is much better.

    • VinWins

      VinWins says:

@Atomic: Yeah, it is much more enjoyable with more teams battling. Good luck the rest of the way!

  4. A Hill O' Beans says:

I told you it would be tough to hold onto that number one spot. Oh well, time to start climbing back up I guess.

Hopefully Franklin hitting two HR the first day after I traded him for Reyes isn’t a sign of things to come. Well, that and losing Grilli and Pujols isn’t helping either…

    • VinWins

      VinWins says:

@A Hill O’ Beans: Yeah, it looks like a lot of teams are going to be in the running this year. Good luck!

    JJ Waiver Weavers says:

can you sort by moves made too? I’m curious to see how my 332 acquisition stacks up among other league leaders

    • VinWins

      VinWins says:

@JJ Waiver Weavers: On my Stats page there is a tab (GS, Moves, IP, K) that allows sorting by moves, though the position in the standings is not included.

  6. thefaketom says:

Vin as always, good stuff. But then again my squad is mentioned.

    • VinWins

      VinWins says:

@thefaketom: That always makes it better! Congratulations!
