Even though I’m not a big fan of bold statements, I’m going to make a few of my own. I mean let’s be honest, a bold statement post is really just an opportunity for a writer to openly share their gut instincts in a protected environment. Bold predictions are what we want to say, but are too afraid to be honest in case we are wrong. Who wants to look like a fool in front of thousands of readers? Luckily for me, I only have 29 followers. How much of a risk am I really taking? So when we label them as “bold” we are instantly shielded from scrutiny and backlash.
Mike Trout is going to be a top three hitter in points leagues. Is that really a bold statement? Any year but this year and that’s like me predicting that it’s not going to snow in May. Trout has been one of the best in the game since he debuted in the MLB. Last year, however, his season was cut short due to injury. It seems many are weary of said injury and he is going off the board around pick 17. That’s the middle of the second round in 12-team leagues. Are you kidding me? If his calf is healed and he plays a full season, Trout is going to finish in the top three amongst hitters.
Juan Soto will be one of a few very that outpoint Trout. In fact, he might be the only one. Soto is going to score more fantasy points than any other hitter. He will be the only reason Vlad Jr. doesn’t win a triple crown as he will have a better batting average.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will lead the league in home runs and RBIs and will finish second in batter average to Juan Soto.
Jonathan India will be a more valuable points league player than Trea Turner. Finally getting to some bold statements. Turner is definitely going to score more fantasy points, but you’d expect that from a player being selected in the first round. India’s current ADP in points leagues is 114. That puts him in the tenth round. Jonathan India is going to be on a lot of championship teams.
Josh Bell will flirt with being a top five 1B. His current ADP of 169 sets him up to be a steal on draft day.
Despite not getting much love, Alex Bregman will finish as a top three 3B.
Jake Cronenworth will be the best player drafted in the 9th round.
Alex Verdugo will score about the same number of fantasy points as Starling Marte. Consider that when you are about to draft Marte in the third or forth round. Verdugo should still be available in round 13.
Francisco Lindor has a bounce back season.
Byron Buxton spends time on the DL. In other news, a bear was spotting sh!tting in the woods.
Nobody steals more than 40 bases.
Kyle Tucker should be considered towards the end of round 1.
Alejandro Kirk leads all catchers in points per plate appearance.
Seiya Suzuki is a top then OF based on points per plate appearance.
Jesse Winker will score more fantasy points than George Springer.
Sal Perez is not a top two catcher and Yadier goes out with a bang.
Corey Seager is a top 3 shortstop.
