Singing “Jung Hoo” to Stevie Wonder’s Jungle Fever. I got Jung Hoo fever, She got Jung Hoo fever, We’ve got Jung Hoo fever, we’re in love. She’s gone Korean boy crazy, I’ve gone Korean boy crazy– [the Cancel Police take a batter ram to the door, charge in and drag me away] It’s okay! Stop! […]

And so it begins. Not the season, as that obviously started a few weeks ago. Rather, uncertainty and a complete lack of clarity is beginning to rear its obnoxious head this week. It started last week, when it appeared as though Dustin May was lined up to make two starts for the Dodgers. That didn’t […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? With the first few weeks of the season in the books, some hitters are off to surprising starts. But early stat lines can be deceiving. A hot streak in April doesn’t always translate to a breakout year, just as a cold start doesn’t guarantee a lost season. At times, a 4-for-5 Opening Day can lead to a player being hailed as the next Ted Williams but slow down, cowboy. That’s a hot dog at a buffet, not the whole meal. We must dig in and figure out which performances are worth our attention. At this point in the season, some player’s results are either too good for a seller to move at a price a buyer is willing to pay or vice versa. The real fantasy gurus are the ones who can sift through the smoke and mirrors to identify sneaky values and make a play before it’s too late. Today, in our Hitter Profiles, we’re going rapid fire on a handful of intriguing players to decide whether their performance is a steal worth riding or a stumble suggesting regression is looming.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Last week’s article wasn’t as good as the opening week, but I’m still pleased with the results. Zack Littell was really the only dud, but it was nice to see the hitters perform after struggling in the opening week. What’s fascinating about this article is that I had trouble limiting down the streamers. That’s why […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?1. Athletics 1B Nick Kurtz (22, AAA)
I have no idea how or when he’s going to crack the lineup, but I feel more confident in him as an impact hitter during his rookie year than I do about pretty much anyone else left in the minors. Feels like a dominant hitter in search of a level that can challenge him.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Howdy there, Razzballers! Before we get into the meat of this week’s analysis, this clip from the 1988 cinematic classic Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is required viewing in order to get the headline reference. Because, you know, every time you have to explain your references to 90-second moments of 40-year-old movies, you’re off to […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?It is somewhat amazing the number of former major league players who have sons who not only reach the majors themselves but also seem to excel on the field.
Jake Wilson is the latest former player to have a son playing the majors. I’m not saying that Jacob Wilson is going to excel during his entire career as he has played in only 41 major league games entering Friday. But Wilson, who played for his dad at Thousand Oaks High School in California, is certainly a player who may play at a high level for years to come.
So let’s take a look at Wilson.
Please, blog, may I have some more?San Francisco Giants outfielder slash heartthrob slash kpop superstar Jung Hoo Lee showed the Bronx how Lee-git he is Friday night with a 3-run bomb off Marcus Stroman in the first inning that looked a little something like this. Hoo Lee moly! Jung Hoo dat? The home run was his first of the season, and […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? What’s the point of fantasy this season without Wyatt Langford? Damn you, baseball! We nearly lost Langford, Jackson Merrill, and Fernando Tatis Jr. in the same week. Luckily, Tatis Jr.’s injury was not long-term but we still took plenty of other hits. This past week has been a bloodbath but on the bright side, we […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I hold a few blades a grass up, then toss them to test the wind. They just sorta fall to the ground and I’m not sure what that tells me. People in the stands are confused why I’m testing the wind to hit a baseball. I don’t know myself, to be honest. I step into […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Salutations everyone, and best wishes that the baseball injury gods are treating you relatively well. If your teams look anything like mine do, though, they are pretty banged up. I don’t like to feel like I’m giving up a few weeks into the season, but if you’ve lost a couple of your starters and two […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The early bird gets the worm, and nowhere else are there more worms to be had than the waiver wire of available relief pitchers in your league. Each year we watch the demise of established capital-C “Closers”, who cost fantasy managers a decent penny in draft price, as other fantasy managers scoop up their understudy […]
