For this list, I used the players’ ages as of July 9, 2023. The cut-off lines for eligibility were 130 at bats for hitters and 50 innings for pitchers. Here’s a link to the top 25. 26. Mariners RHP Bryan Woo | 23 | MLB | 2023 I featured this guy after his debut […]

Weekly Razzball news delivered straight to your inbox.
Hey Razzfaithful, back in the saddle after returning from a family vacation. With renewed clarity and a sunburn, I’m ready to take on a midseason review of my sleepers and deep dives from the early going. Call it a furthering need for authenticity. I do my best to practice this with my work and family, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Yes, I think it’s at least a five-star title… out of fifteen, but that’s like 30% or something. Which is also bad, but it shows that I can do math at a very average and sorta-accurate level. MAYBE. It might come in handy here, or one would like to think so, only because if we’re […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? What’s poppin, Razzpimples? Bullpen update time! Except this time it’s an overarching look at the good and bad from the first half of the 2023 fantasy baseball season. Don’t forget, the Razzball Bullpen Chart is manned by yours truly and updated like every single second (not really, but I stay on top of thangs for the most […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?B_Don takes a look at Grey’s 2nd half rankings, and Lane Thomas. We go over some of Grey’s top 20 players like Mookie Betts, Adolis Garcia, Luis Robert Jr., Jose Ramirez, Yordan Alvarez, and Lane Thomas. Then, we move on to some different groups of hitters. We look at the biggest differences between the player […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? She bingo’d on my bango until I chucked my Woolery–Oh hey! Sorry, didn’t hear you come in! I was talking to myself in the mirror. I do that when there’s no baseball games. That, and rank players! So, let’s get some exposition out of the way up front before we drop the top 100 for 2nd half of 2023 fantasy baseball. Not too much exposition because this is going to be a long post as it is–I’m making it longer, aren’t I? Ugh, my bad! Before we get into the top 100 for the 2nd half of 2023 fantasy baseball, let’s just be glad our 18-year-old selves can’t see us now, we’d get beat up! But our twelve-year-old selves would think we’re the coolest! So, as with all of the other 2023 fantasy baseball rankings, slop this up with a grain of salt. If you need a 2nd baseman, but an outfielder is above him that doesn’t mean you can’t trade that outfielder for that 2nd baseman. Also, things change in fantasy baseball. Daily. I could put Ronald Acuña Jr. number one, and he could pull a–Well, we won’t even mention an injury with the top players after we lost Oneil Cruz. As I say about the Giancarlo underwear I bought off eBay, why soil a good thing? This list is a road map for where I think guys are valued. It’s not the Holy Grail in the Church of Grey, that would be my mustache. This list is NOT (caps for emphasis, not aesthetics) where I see guys ending up if you were to take their first half and combine it with the 2nd half. This is simply a list of the top hundred fantasy baseball players if you were to pick them up today. So while Dansby Swanson did not have the greatest first half, he will appear on this list because, well, we have to believe in miracles — my 12-year-old self would want that, and to sleep with Cher. 12-year-old Grey loved Cher. The projections are not their combined 1st half and 2nd half numbers; these are their projections for the 2nd half of 2023. I also liberally used our rest of the season Fantasy Baseball Player Rater. That’s right, we have a Player Rater that tells you what players will do. It’s like that camera from The Twilight Zone. Welcome to the future! Anyway, here’s the top 100 for fantasy baseball for the 2nd half of 2023:
Please, blog, may I have some more?In an article that was nominated for “Most Amount of Jibberish Put into a Blog” by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association, I made two points:
Rankings are — for the most part — meaningless.
The culture of ranking incentivizes safe ranking.
When I say that rankings are meaningless, this is because rankers have maybe a middling accuracy in predicting the median outcome of a player performance. You can see Rudy’s tracked success on the Razzball Ombotsman (and Rudy’s a really good ranker). The TL;DR of that portion of Razzball is that top players generally perform within their expected performance bracket about 50% of the time. Crappy players perform within their expected band of crappiness about 50% of the time as well. What do players do the other 50% of the time? Great players can be crappy, and crappy players can be great.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy All Star break, RCLers! We’re almost 60% of the way now and this little lull in the action is a perfect time to regroup, analyze our teams and our league standings, and formulate a plan for the rest of the season. Are you up by 40 steals? Well, maybe look to move a stolen […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?As we approach the All-Star break and the traditional second half of the MLB season draws near, hopefully, your teams are still in the hunt. As we take a minute to appreciate the good breaks and bounces that have come our way, let’s take a look at the Razzball Rest of Season Player Rater and […]

Please, blog, may I have some more?As the All-Star break signals the beginning of the second half, it is time to fill the gaps in our roster for the stretch run. Before we do, let’s revisit some bold hitter predictions for the month of June. For my first prediction, I postured that Giancarlo Stanton would come back from the injured list blasting homers with thirteen in the month. For this one, he did come back but was barely worth a roster spot with his three homers, so that is a fail. My other prediction was Ronald Acuna leading the league with eleven steals. He in fact did lead the league with thirteen steals, so I am claiming a win even though this looks less than bold in hindsight. With that assessment out of the way, let’s jump into this week’s hitter profiles looking for second half targets hiding deep in free agency.
