It’s mind-blowing that these are my final two articles of the season. It always feels like the season is slowly steaming along, and then it’s just gone one day! That saddens me because this felt like one of my best seasons ever. I’ve also loved adding some relievers and SAGNOF specialists because it’s helped me […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I don’t have enough spam, give me the Razzball email newsletter!
Weekly Razzball news delivered straight to your inbox.
Baseball TwitterX was peppered with Prospect Crush lineups last week, and while I’m not sure I could articulate the definition of “crush” in this context, I thought the idea was interesting enough to build an article around as we near the tail end of the minor league season. I mean I almost dropped my own squad into Elon Musk’s private hype site before I realized I was pouring a lot of time into generating content for everyone’s favorite space invader.
Please, blog, may I have some more?I am no Mike, but I also had no interest in leaving everyone hanging in what could be the finals or semi-finals of many H2H leagues and the final weeks for category juice in those sweet, sweet roto leagues. My quick, little rundown will not be nearly the thorough breakdown Mike does, but I’m going […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?We are in the stretch run of the 2023 season, and time is running out to find a few more top dynasty keepers.
This week I want to focus on Colorado Rockies outfielder/first baseman Nolan Jones and briefly discuss Toronto second baseman Davis Schneider.
Jones, drafted by Cleveland in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft, is a former Top 100 prospect, ranked as high as 45th by Baseball America, 36th by MLB Pipeline and 52nd by Baseball Prospectus in 2021 before dropping out of the rankings ahead of the 2022 season.
The Guardians (Indians at the time) thought so highly of Jones that he was the team’s representative in the 2019 Futures Game.
Jones, who is now 25, made his Major League debut for Cleveland in 2022 and appeared in 28 games and getting 86 at-bats. But by the end of the season, the Guardians had decided it was time to move on from Jones and traded him to Colorado in November for minor league infielder Juan Brito.
Right now the trade is a win for the Rockies. But let’s dig in and see why I consider Jones a top dynasty keeper.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Chicago White Sox, no–umm, Anaheim Ang–wait, Cleveland Guardians pitcher Lucas Giolito (finally) looked like his old self Friday night dominating the Tejas Rangers through seven shut out innings, allowing just three base runners (two hits, one walk) and striking out a career high 12 for his eighth win of the year. He entered the game […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Saturday, Razzophiles! As the regular season winds down, it is time to remember the good times. Obviously, I am looking at injuries and who can cover for the injured all through the season. I have found myself going to Aaron Hicks on and off ever since he moved to Baltimore. While Hicks has, by […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I looked at Jake Alu. To repeat for emphasis, I looked at Jake Alu. Again, but with an exclamation mark, I looked at Jake Alu! That’s how random I was willing to go for a hot bat for this week’s Buy column. Loyalty and long-term outlooks mean nothing. I’d cut my grandmother if it meant a fantasy league win! Sorry, Nana. So, ended up on Willi Castro, because he’s been hot, that was first and foremost, but also: I haven’t talked about him nearly enough this year. The drawback to my style of roundupping (totally a word!) is if a guy doesn’t hit a lot of homers, he could fall by the wayside. I mentioned Willi Castro a total of seven times this year.
Please, blog, may I have some more? Can anything be creative if it follows a template? Why does doubt exist as the world’s worst art critic?
All this to say that I will once again spend a Blurbstomp talking about a baseball player getting hurt in his pee pee place.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Good morning, afternoon, or evening, friends and fellow deep leaguers, as we’re suddenly at the point where we can start measuring the remaining time of another Major League Baseball season in days rather than weeks. When it comes to fantasy, I have exactly one league where I need wins but have such a huge lead […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? We’re back with what I like to call: My Conspiracy That Getaway Day Is The Best Day For Pitching. Am I wearing a tinfoil hat? Yes, what’s the alternative? I forgot my Big Jugs trucker hat and you want me to get melanoma? That’s awful, friend. This conspiracy theory, that the lamestream media is saying is more misleading than The Clinton Kill List, might just be confirmation basis, but, I ask you, gentle reader with a fading hairline, what good is a confirmation basis if that shizz ain’t confirming anything? I got more blind spots than an Airstream trailer, but I see every pitcher around baseball yesterday pitching well, and I ask you, take my hand and follow me to Conspiracy Loonloon Land. Take my hand metaphorically! Let go of my hand, you weirdo! So, Kodai Senga (6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.95) threw another gem. Was it because it was Thursday? Who’s to say? (It was.) I begged people to draft Senga this year, as he was going around 175 overall and an absolute steal. Speaking of which, I present to you frequent commenter, Oaktown Steve’s comment from yesterday that everyone should read:
Please, blog, may I have some more? What is up party people? September really is in full swing now. For those of you fantasy football gurus out there, the Razzball crew has you covered. However, since you’re here I think it would be fair to assume that your interests lie beyond the gridiron. The diamond calls to you. If you build it, they will come. We have entered crunch time, where championships are decided. As we get down to the nitty gritty, the options get way more limited. As much as I would love to recommend a guy who is available in 90% of leagues, the truth is that you need results not speculative adds. However, sometimes the stars align a gem such as Logan O’Hoppe is there for the taking. His season can be summed up fairly briefly. He was a highly touted rookie who was billed as an impact bat at catcher (aka fantasy gold) who actually looked like he might deliver on his potential. Then disaster, a shoulder injury knocked him out of action for what appeared to be the rest of the season. I am as surprised as anyone that he wasn’t shut down until next year. I guess that wasn’t really all that brief of a summary but the upshot is that he his back. Not only is he back, he looks better than ever. In the last week alone he has smoked 4 bombs. If you need help at catcher (and like most of us, you probably do) let Logan take your team over the top. May the odds be ever in your favor.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Mike Couillard and Jeremy Brewer have launched a pod, Cards & Categories, to discuss baseball from card collecting and fantasy angles! In our tenth episode, we open with discussion on two pitchers in the news – Adam Wainwright and George Kirby. Then we review the details of a newest release, 2023 Bowman Chrome (26:26). Finally, we close out with discussing […]
