For the past several weeks I have been highlighting the under-the-radar players who I believe are up-and-coming dynasty players. This week I am changing gears a bit since the player I want to highlight has been a top prospect for several years and is the farthest thing from being an under-the-radar player.

This week the spotlight falls on Jackson Chourio of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Chourio has been a hot commodity in baseball since signing with the Brewers for $1.8 million in January 2021. One year later, at the age of 18, he slashed .288/.342/.538 with 20 homers, 75 RBI and 16 steals across three levels in the minors. He continued that success last year.

Playing at Double-A for most of last season before ending the year with a six-game run at Triple-A, Chourio hit 22 homers, drove in 91 runs and stole 44 bases while slashing .283/.338/.467. The last teenage minor leaguer to post a 20-40 season was Ronald Acuna Jr. in 2017.

The Brewers knew they had a special player on their hands, so they made sure he would remain with the team for a while. This past December the club inked Chourio to an eight-year contract with two club options, potentially keeping him in Milwaukee through 2033.

If you are a seasoned dynasty player, then you know about Chourio and understand his value. But if you are new to dynasty baseball, then you are probably being approached by other players about trading for Chourio. Don’t do it.

I’ll explain why Chourio is an up-and-coming dynasty player.

On the podcast the other day, I compared Jordan Westburg to Bo Bichette, and BDon stopped the podcast, called his job and told them he needed two years off to organize a music festival called, “Grey’s Finally Admitted About Overrating Bo-Chella.” At Bo-Chella, as it will be known colloquially, the headliners will be Jordan Westburg, […]

There are 10 games on the Main DraftKings Slate starting with the Rays-Yankees at 6:05 CT, and this game will be a fun one to target on the Yankees side. The team boasts the best walk rate in the majors and will be facing a pitcher who struggles with walks and fly balls. Triston McKenzie […]

The Tortoise and the Hare is a tale as old as time, even if it isn’t sung by everyone’s True Grandmother Angela Lansbury. The hare is lean, lithe, and lightning fast. In comparison, it seems the tortoise is loafing, langorous, and locomotively lugubrious. The hubris-pilled hare challenges the tortoise to a race, giving little stock to the tired tenacity of said tortoise. We all know how this ends: The Hare was later found shot in the woods near Tortoise’s home, a large hammer found near his body. The tortoise continues to live a long, fruitful life, having been cleared of any wrong-doing by a court made of moles and squirrels. Perhaps his crime will never catch up to him.

What is up party people? The Colton Cowser hype is growing and it looks like the hype might be real. While this outburst may be an outlier, don’t forget that he was once a first round draft pick way back in *checks notes* 2021. The Orioles are absolutely loaded with prospects, or at least it feels that way, so it’s really not that surprising he hit a logjam to find a starting spot. With his recent performance it seems he will get a shot to play everyday, even against lefties. He’s likely not available in your league and even more likely that he will not be in the next few days. The talent is certainly there for him to put up a really good season.

Big week for redemption-arc prospects, particularly Rangers RHP Jack Leiter and Astros RHP Forrest Whitley. Leiter is scheduled to make his major league debut Thursday, just a couple days before he’ll turn 24 on April 24. He has not fared well as a professional, logging ERAs of 5.54, and 5.07 in two extended stretches in Double-A heading into 2024. Leiter’s command has been much better this season, as seen in his 0.98 WHIP and 38.6 percent strikeout-minus-walk rate across 14.1 Triple-A innings. He’s pulled an interesting trick of becoming found money after being the 2nd overall pick in 2021. Could provide a nice boost if he gives the Rangers anything this year.
