Hey Batter³ Contest, Week 14: Foul Balls

The answer is “foul balls”. What is “what do you see in the majority of men’s locker rooms on a weekday afternoon?” We asked 100 women, what is the top reason you refuse to give a man oral sex? Survey says “foul balls!” FOUL B_LLS. Pat, I’d like to buy a vowel. Speaking of which, what kind of @sshole buys a vowel in this position. Solve the freaking puzzle and save the $250. Despite not being able to hit the ball in fair territory, week 12’s winner thrived on foul balls. Are foul balls even a category in any league? If there’s a site that tracks foul ball stats I’m starting a foul ball league next year. How about foul balls and fielders choices. Who’s with me?

With 78 points, the winner from week 12 is none other than Foul balls. By selecting Justin Upton, Jake Lamb and Cody Bellinger, Foul balls was able to go from last to first in just one week. In week 11 he finished dead last, but one week later he finds himself on top of the world. And by “world” I mean this contest. And if Foul balls is a she, well played. While we’re here I’d like to thank Foul for participating in this contest every week since it’s begun. Goes to show that persistence does pay off.

Water finished in second place with 69 points thanks to Logan Morrison, Corey Dickerson and Edwin Encarnacion. Fungazi actually tied Water for second place. Fungazi also picked Morrison and Dickerson, but instead of Encarnacion he picked Marcell Ozuna. Fungazi is no stranger to top finishes as he won in week 9 and finished third in week 7.

Week 13

Week 13 has 34 competitors trying to become the 13th winner. Those 34 contestants selected 48 different batters. The most selected batter was Jose Ramirez. He was picked by seven different people. Next is Cody Bellinger and Xander Bogaerts whom were selected by six. Ramirez currently has 14 points, Bellinger has -1 and Bogaerts has 2.

The current leader for week 13 is Jason Heilskov with 46 points. His batters are Jose Ramirez, Francisco Lindor and Aaron Judge. He came close to winning in weeks 5 and 7. Could this finally be his time to shine? In second place is MattH with 38 points. His batters are Aaron Judge, Mitch Moreland and Jake Lamb.

For those trying to figure out what this whole contest is all about, please re-read this post containing the rules. For those too lazy to do so, here are the basic rules. Each week you pick three batters (no pitchers). A week (scoring period) runs from Monday through Sunday. You must have your picks submitted by 1:00 PM EDT on Monday mornings. You submit your picks by leaving a comment in the comments section of that’s week’s contest post. Comment timestamps will be used to break any ties. Once you pick a player, you cannot pick that player again in any subsequent week. A card laid is a card played. This means that once you announce your picks in the comments section, you cannot change them. It doesn’t matter the reason.

The last thing to mention are the unmentionables. Actually they are called Unpickables. You cannot pick an unpickable. Well you can, but you will get zero points.

Each week is a new contest, but your weekly points will count towards your total points in the season long standings. The season will run fifteen weeks. At the end of the season there will be a five week playoff competition. In order to qualify for the playoffs you need to either win a weekly contest or finish in the top three overall season standings. That’s it. If you win more than one week and/or finish in the top three, you still only get one entry into the playoffs. However the person that finishes the regular season with the most points (first place), will be allowed to pick players from the Unpickables list during the playoffs (one per week). The winner of the playoffs will receive a brand new Razzball tee shirt. And that’s me plagiarizing me from last week again. Thank you cut and paste.

The scoring system that will be used for this contest is as follows:

1B(+1), 2B(+2), 3B(+3), HR(+4), RBI(+1), R(+1), SO(-1), BB(+1), SB(+1), CS(-1)
