Depending on how you want to think about it, this week’s podcast is either the 2017 season finale, or the 2018 season premiere. I guess it’s a glass half full/empty kind of thing. Grey Albright, Ralph Lifshitz, and I run a three man 2018 mock draft, going 27 players deep. We debate if Clayton Kershaw should still be the first pitcher taken, is Trea Turner a top three pick, and if 23rd overall is too high for Josh Donaldson. We discuss everyone from Mike Trout, Jose Altuve, Mookie Betts, Giancarlo Stanton, and Bryce Harper, to Jose Ramirez, Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Gary Sanchez, and everyone in between. Haven’t listened yet, but will you post the mock draft too?

@dude: Decision came down late last night from corporate to not post the results, ha.

Interesting to see Judge go a pretty good chunk earlier than Bellinger (though I know Grey liked Bellinger more). I’m a total Yankee homer too, but Bellinger feels like he’s got similar upside (maybe less HR and more SB . . . though he did hit ~40 in way less than a full season) with lower risk due to the better K-rate.

@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Yea, Ralph can definitely chime in on that since it was his pick, but I think he said later in the podcast that he probably would rank Bellinger higher. He was just hoping Bellinger fell back to him in this mock. He was playing the mock draft room, ha

@Halp: Yeah I heard Ralph gaming that! He means business in the draftroom, mock or not!

In a 10 team H2H keeper league – trade Alex Wood & Mccullers for Max Scherzer? I will also be giving up a couple of picks possibly a 2nd and 3rd rounder. Am i over paying? I didnt even make playoffs.
how many more years does max have? That’s what I’m worried about.

@LLango: it would depend on amount of keepers and who you can get in the 2nd and 3rd rd, but it seems like too much to me, especially because it doesnt seem like you are one piece away. Wood, mccullers, and maybe more of like one 4/5 rd pick seems more fair. 4 really good pieces is probably a pass for me

When are both yours and Ralphs top 100 prospect lists coming?

@Claw dawg: I think Ralph’s may be coming out Sunday. I’m not sure if I’m doing an end of season top 100.

  6. I’m on a quest to help people, especially writers, use compound subject properly. You may not say, “Grey Albright, Ralph Lifshitz, and myself run a three man 2018 mock draft.” If you remove “Grey” and “Ralph,” you would NEVER say, “myself runs a three-man . . .” would you? Of course not. The proper way to say it is: “Grey, Ralph, and I run a . . . ” Just tryin’ to help folks not sound illiterate. :)

@Dennis Billuni: I agree with you Dennis. I can not listen to Vasgergen on MLB Network because he kills pronouns!

@Dennis Billuni: Thanks, Dennis. Appreciate the correction. Won’t make that mistake again.

      • @Halp: I noticed your correction, Halp. It’s gratifying when someone takes constructive criticism to heart. Thanks.
