Happy Father’s Day, everyone! Or, if we prefer, Happy Fudge Day, or Turkey Lover’s Day. There is something for everyone today. Unless we don’t like fathers, fudge, or turkey…might be best to sleep in, then. But not too late! We don’t want to miss this 11-game FanDuel Main Slate. We have a right Bauer to play! Euchre fans? Anyone?

If we don’t yet know how to play euchre, we owe it to the fathers in our lives to learn it. They will love it. We’ll love it, too, but they will especially love it. Here is a tutorial.

In the card game “euchre” the jack of whichever suit is declared trump is known as the right bower, and is the highest card in the game that hand. Similarly, and this is not a stretch at all, we have the right circumstances today for Trevor Bauer to be the best option of our DFS slate. So let’s run with this analogy and lead with the Right Bauer.

Trevor Bauer, SP: $11,300, is worth the cost of ownership against the Tigers. Though this game may see an initial weather delay, the likelihood of an in-game delay messing up our SP workload is small enough to risk. He faced the Tigers in Detroit earlier this season, but the conditions were miserable, so we have a handy excuse when considering his sub par performance. We should expect a much better outcome today. The Tigers are the awkward teen of the MLB, they strike out a ton and hardly ever score. Dad joke, eye-roll. But really, they are a great matchup to throw SP against. We should be confident with our play here.

So, we have lead with the right Bauer and taken the first trick. What are our next best plays? Read on to find out.

Brad Peacock, SP: $8,500 – Peacock has been all over the map this season, but lately has been consistently slightly below average. Today, though, he faces a Toronto team that has scored the fourth fewest runs in the entire league, and striking out a decent clip above average. We should expect a proud Peacock to be on full display more often than not in this situation, so he is well worth owning.

Sonny Gray, SP: $7,500 – Probably the safest value play of the day, but he doesn’t come without elevated risk, as with the remainder of the pitchers on the slate. Weather conditions in Cincinnati should make this game a little concerning for pitching because there is a chance it doesn’t even play, the wind, air and VMI all favor hitting, plus Texas has scored the second most runs this season. That said, the Rangers also strike out a lot and Jurado is a relatively weak SP to oppose, increasing the likelihood of a win for Gray.

New York Mets – Low run total considering temps in the 80’s with the wind blowing out at 12 mph. Let’s assume we know more than Vegas and stack this game to the moon. Or just as high as we can reach. No ER visits this Father’s Day! Order of preference: Michael Conforto, OF: $3,700, Dominic Smith, OF: $2,200, Jeff McNeil, OF: $3,100, Todd Frazier, 3B: $2,800, Adeiny Hechavarria, 2B: $2,400

St. Louis Cardinals – Same thought process as with the Mets, with the additional consideration of the lefty splits favoring right handed hitters here. Order of preference: Paul DeJong, SS: $3,800, Marcell Ozuna, OF: $4,000, Matt Carpenter, 3B: $3,200, Harrison Bader, OF: $2,400, Paul Goldschmidt, C/1B: $3,400, Jose Martinez, OF: $2,600, Yairo Munoz, SS: $2,200, Yadier Molina, C/1B: $2,600

Boston Red Sox – This game boasts the highest run total of the slate. Factors backing this up include temperatures in the upper 80’s, winds blowing out at 12 mph, and VMI’s favoring hitting. We should confidently stack both the Red Sox and Orioles, and fade SP. Order of preference: J.D. Martinez, OF: $4,300, Mookie Betts, OF: $4,200, Eduardo Nunez, 2B: $2,300, Andrew Beninendi, OF: $3,600, Rafael Devers, 3B: $3,900, Xander Bogaerts, SS: $4,200

Baltimore Orioles – Detailed above. Order of preference: Jonathan Villar, SS: $2,900, Anthony Santander, OF: $2,800, Renato Nunez, 3B: $2,500, Chris Davis, C/1B: $2,000, Rio Ruiz, 3B: $2,100

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Though scattered showers are forecast around the majority of games today, odds of any getting postponed are slim enough to ease our worries.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The over/under is currently sitting at 9 in Queens, with movement toward the under. Let’s laugh in the face of this line, knowing we know more than Vegas (we don’t), and confidently (not very confidently at all, actually, nothing more than a min bet risk here) bet the over.
