Good Afternoon Sports Fans, and welcome to Toilet Talk with Jared!
We have a smaller slate to work w/ today and I’ll be focusing my analysis. In my opinion, it’s a pretty weird slate. You have some Aces going, but not the ideal match up or a super expensive price. This has me most likely landing on Jesus Luzardo against the Rangers. Most of the Rangers pop comes from the left side of the plate, so this is a better match up for Luzardo.
Now lets dig in to today’s slate!

Trevor Bauer, SP: $12,000 – Bauer is by far the best pitcher on the slate. He’s also priced as the best pitcher on the slate. I’d say the match up against the Brewers is a neutral one. They aren’t the same team as last year, but they still have some studs in their lineup. There’s definitely some value out there today that will help you fit him in.
Kenta Maeda, SP: $9,400 – Maeda has been pitching like an Ace this season. Over the past 2 weeks he has a 32% K rate and xFIP of 2.11. He’s been able to induce a ton of soft contact due to his ability to get hitters to chase pitches. Hitters are swinging at 42% of his pitches out of the zone. The match up isn’t ideal tonight against a solid Indians lineup. That said, he’s been light’s out of late.
Jesus Luzardo, SP: $7,700 – Here’s my guy tonight. I think most will gravitate to Bauer and Maeda tonight. While his K rate comes in lower (22%) than his peers he’s also facing a team that has a higher K rate against the handedness. Between Luzardo and Lynn going tonight, this has the makings of a low scoring afair with A’s pulling out ahead.
Yuli Gurriel, C/1B: $3,400 – One guy that may get overlooked tonight is Gurriel. At a high level it looks like was pretty cold this week. And from a fantasy standpoint, he was. He has been putting the ball in play, he’s just been a bit unlucky. He has 20 events this week and 9 were hard hit. Look for a nice rebound tonight.
Cesar Hernandez, 2B: $2,700 – The match up tonight isn’t great, but Hernandez is cheap and normally figures out a way to get you some points. He had a .389 woba in the last week and 6 WRC. He should pay off his salary tonight.
Eugenio Suarez, 3B: $3,100 – Lefty smasher alert! Love the match up here. Suarez has always been great against lefties. He’s also coming a steep discount compared to his DK prices. No need to overthink this one.
Trevor Story, SS: $3,900 – I will always be partial to Story. I traded for him his rookie year and he helped me win a season long title. He’s a fly ball hitter against a fly ball pitcher. He’s my home run call of the night.
Nick Castellanos, OF: $4,200 – See Eugenio! Another lefty smasher. You aren’t get the discount with Castellanos that you are with Suarez. That said, there are enough cheap bats tonight that you should be able to fit him in. His career iso of .253 vs. southpaws has me licking my chops tonight.
Kyle Schwarber, OF: $2,700 – Love the price on Schwarber tonight. Mize is a top prospect, but he’s still only making his second career start. Look for Schwarber to homer in a second consecutive game tonight.
Kyle Tucker, OF: $3,100 – Expect some Lefty on Lefty crime tonight from Tucker. What a week from him! .529 woba, 8 WRC and 2 dongs. Look for him to continue to roll tonight. Houston has one of the highest run totals tonight and between him and Gurriel you can get some cheap exposure to them.
Stacks – My favorite stacks tonight are the Astros, Reds, and Cubs.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Detroit is the one potential wet spot tonight. Keep and eye on that game.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Some big lines tonight. Houston, Dbacks, and Cardinals are all heavy favorites.
