Back to my usual full slate DFS Tuesday article this week. That short slate stuff is for the birds. Our pitchers performed well last week, but I’m not sure the bats I selected got the ball out of the infield. We fall back to 1-2 in double-ups on the season and look to even it up this evening.
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, April 25th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is a 9-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

Griffin Canning, SP: $6,400. My first selection as I laid out the lineup tonight was a value starter in Canning who faces the Oakland A’s. Canning has two starts under his belt so far with 8 Ks in 10.1 IP on the season. In his first effort, he went 5 scoreless against the Nationals throwing just 69 pitches. He got it up to 100 pitches in his second outing against the Yankees, but struggled more with control and allowed a long ball. That being said the A’s lineup is much more like the Nats than the Yankees and if Griffin can control the strike zone he should have a big opportunity to put up a decent fantasy number.
Charlie Morton, SP: $8,600. Morton has limited damage so far but hasn’t been sharp with his control walking 10 batters in just over 22 innings this season. He has struck out at least 5 however in his last three outings so he’s still finding a way to miss bats. The higher priced options in Joe Ryan, Justin Steele, and Nestor Cortes have tougher match-ups at least on paper in my opinion. The Marlins who Morton faces have a .689 OPS vs righties so far this year. Gotta think Charlie is due for a nice game here.
Eric Haase, C: $3,000. Haase has two career plate appearances vs Brewers Tuesday starter Eric Lauer. He’s homered in both. That’s good enough for a play at this price.
Pete Alonso, 1B: $6,000. Pete Beef has 5 multi-hit games and 5 Home Runs in his last 11 contests coming into Tuesday night. He trails only Max Muncy in long balls on the season and gets Josiah Gray tonight. The Nats starter has limited damage the last three times out, but it’s all smoke and mirrors as his 5.13 xFIP tells the real story. Alonso is also 3 for 6 with a Home Run in his career off Gray.
Jeff McNeil, 2B: $3,900. McNeil has been hot lately putting up 12 hits including a long ball in his last 7 games. He also has a nice short history against Josiah Gray going 4 for 6 with a Home Run in his career. Might be a nice Mets stack in the works!
Brian Anderson, 3B: $3,500. Hey there Mr. Anderson! What a nice Sunday for you with a pair of Home Runs. Anderson already is sitting at 18 RBIs on the season as the move to Milwaukee has been agreeable to him. Probably has something to do with being healthy also. As Morpheus said “The Body Cannot Live Without The Mind,” and Mr. Anderson’s mind is in a very good place right now.
Francisco Lindor, SS: $5,100. It’s officially a Mets party in Queens as the get-Josiah party continues. Did you know the most famous person named Josiah was Josiah Gibbs? He was a scientist specializing in chemical and electrochemical thermodynamics. I’m not sure what all that means, but expect Lindor to apply force to a baseball and have it travel long distances.
Franmil Reyes, OF: $2,700. Franmil was finding lots of green space and tearing the cover off the ball prior to going on the paternity list last week. His statcast hard hit percent this year is currently sitting at 60%. He had multi-hit games in 4 of 6 contests before heading off to welcome the family addition. He is seeing it well and hopefully will celebrate the new addition with some explosiveness in Arizona tonight.
Mitch Haniger, OF: $4,200. Haniger returns to the lineup from the IL Monday night after dealing with an oblique strain. He was 4 for 13 with 2 Home Runs on his rehab assignment, and when he’s been healthy is one of the premier power options out there. His Barrel rate has been above 12% the last two seasons combined and he has homered at just over once every 18 plate appearances. He’ll face Jake Woodford and his 6.05 ERA tonight. Hoping he makes it through Monday without hurting something…
Ronald Acuna Jr., OF $6,600. The most pricey option on the board only has 3 Home Runs to this point, but is hitting .374 and posting a multi-hit game seemingly every other night. He faces Bryan Hoenig who comes up after two solid AAA efforts. Hoenig did struggle mightily when he was with the Marlins last year, so I don’t see him doing much unless he developed something new in the off season. His AAA K rate was under 5K/9 last season. El Abusador gonna get some tonight, so if you don’t like the Mets stack I’d put together one with the Braves.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
No weather issues on the horizon. Slight wind impacts at Wrigley blowing across the field from right to left and the breeze will be blowing out a bit in San Francisco.
Doing Lines In Vegas
I did mention I do a bit of Sports Handicapping. Follow me on Twitter @TheGreat Knoche for more info. I’ll give out a Free Play here every Tuesday, but you can find all my free and premium picks for MLB and a few other sports at The Odds Breakers
I’m playing either a parlay or Run Line plays on the two lineups/pitching duos I like in DFS depending on where the lines come out. Braves/Mets will be in play tonight.
