Finally, Jacoby Ellsbury hits the DL.  This is probably a DL trip of less than a week.  At least the Sawx hope so.  Was also revealed Mike Cameron will miss a few weeks with a strained abdomen. (Shouldn’t it be a strained abdoman?)  If Cameron needs surgery, he could miss up to two months.  Darnell McDonald was called up.  Darnell McDonald is the answer to the question, “Who is Darnell McDonald?”  Other questions his name could’ve answered were, “Who’s the thirty-one year prospect in the outfield?” “This is the Red Sox depth?” and “Wait, what?”  Old McDonald has some speed…. ei, ei, ei, oh, no, you don’t want him.  Sure, he had the game-tying homer and the game-winning single off the wall, but he’s far from fantasy worthy at this point outside of very deep leagues.  Also called up, Josh Reddick.  Let’s cover him on the other side of the formality, shall we?  C’mon, follow me over this “anyway” sentence.  Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Josh Reddick – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs.  Here’s what Stephen said last month in the Red Sox minor league review, “Reddick has the potential for more power, especially with a high fly ball rate (49.5%).  With the announcement of Mike Cameron going to be out for a month on April 20th at 11:47 AM EST, Reddick should get a chance.”  Okay, I just got chills.  How did Stephen know that last month?!  He practices voodoo!  Reddick hasn’t done anything special this year in Triple-A.  Hitting .179 and one homer.  The one homer did come in only seven hits.  If you need pop, I’d grab Reddick in deep leagues, especially AL-Only ones.  He could also chip in a few steals.  Right now, he should see time in center while Ellsbury mends, then he could split time with Hermida and/or Drew.  Or he could be the first man off the bench.  Grab now, ask questions later.

Jeremy Hermida – 2-for-3 and a homer.  He’ll also get a boost in playing time.  Hermida was a big favorite of mine before I started the blog.  My PIN number used to be 15628, which was Hermida’s home address where I used to stalk him.  Restraining order and 3 uneventful years later, Hermida’s got some esplaining to do with his bat.  After two homers in two days, he’s worth grabbing if you need some power/RBI help.

Victor Martinez – 3-for-4 as he combined with Tim Wakefield to allow 9 steals.  Two by Vlad, who hasn’t been able to bend his knee since ‘Nam.  That’s just the Red Sox investing in defense.

Nelson Cruz – 2-for-4, 1 RBI and 3 steals.  Left with leg cramping, must be that time of the month.  No word yet on the severity.

Elvis Andrus – 0-for-2, 3 steals as he continues to leadoff.  On one of the steals, Andrus slide into second, realized he forgot his wallet, went back to first and still got into second under the tag.  Oh, and it was a pitch out.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia – Salty should be back in about a week, barring a setback.  Or setbacchia.  Salty should take over for Teagarden and could save you some of your rotisserie catcher issues.

Frank Francisco – 1 IP, 1 ER and the loss as Frank-Frank continues to suck-suck.

Edinson Volquez – Tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.  As frequent commenter Clyde Prompto said, “I can’t believe I was combing the internet all day to find out who the suspended player was and it turned out to be Edinson Volquez.  I was intrigued by the initial story, found some exciting possibilities during my research, and was ultimately extremely disappointed in the outcome.  I feel like I just lived through the fantasy baseball equivalent of an episode of Ghost Hunters.”  Volquez was on the DL until late-July anyway, so this really does nothing to his value.  If anything, I kinda like the gumption of an injured player PED’ing his way back from recovery since he can’t lose any additional time.  It’s similar to the prisoners beating up Madoff.  What, you’re going to punish me more?  Please, it’s shank time.

Drew Stubbs – 0-for-5 with no walks and one steal.  If I had to assign a line to Stubbs, that would be it.

Chad Billingsley – 3 IP, 4 ER, 7 hits, no walks, no breaking ball and a fastball that wouldn’t even win an oversized SpongeBob at the county fair.  He might be headed for a visit soon to see Dr. Freeze.  He gets the Nats next, so, like a gambler who can’t leave the table even as he loses every hand, I’ll be rolling the dice on his next start.  And I’d fix that mixed metaphor, but I’m too old; I’m too tired; I’m too effin’ annoyed with Billingsley.

Matt Kemp – 2-for-5 as he hit his 6th homer.  He’s been caught stealing 4 times already.  Not sure if anyone’s going to put the brakes on him, but, assuming they don’t, I’m guessing he’s going for 30/30 this year.  And making it.

Rafael Furcal – 2-for-5, 2 steals.  Barring injuries, there’s no reason to think he’s not back.  So when you ask me if you should go with Schmohawk Shortstop Behind Door #3 or Furcal… I’m going Furcal.

Jorge Cantu – 2-for-4 with his 4th homer.  Cantu was terrific last April too, so it could be a guise.  Don’t fall for the perfume and makeup.  Cantu has an Adam’s Apple.

Lance Berkman – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs as the Astros scored more runs in this game than all of their other games combined.  Don’t worry, they still have 6 holes in their lineup.

Chris Coghlan – 2-for-4 and a steal.  I don’t like him at all, but he might be finally heating up.  He will hit better than his current .140.

Mike Pelfrey – 7 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks.  His K-rate prior to 2010 was pretty poor.  Even this year, it’s only a little above his career mark.  His biggest adjustment so far seems to be his ability to avoid the homer ball and leave men on base.  He won’t continue to leave men on base, but he can maintain his small strikeout and homer gains. You’re not looking at a total breakout, but he can be usable as a 4th fantasy starter, especially in Metco.

Jose Reyes – 4-for-5 and a steal.  Thank God, the shipment of Red Bull finally arrived.

Nate McLouth – 1-for-3 as he hit the game winning homer.  McLousy’s always been a very streaky player and he was battling some health issues in training camp.  Might finally be feeling 100%.

Ryan Madson – 1 IP, 3 ER, blown save and has an ERA of 7.71 on the year.  Not sure why it took me so long to realize it, but I think Madson’s a Cuddle Boy.

David Aardsma – Recorded his 6th perfect save.  Member all the people in the preseason who were like, “Grey, your mustache has gone to your head, yo.  Aardsma is crizzap!”  Yeah, they’re off trolling the ESPN message boards now.

Milton Bradley – Left the game with an injury.  Or he left the game to beat the crap out of someone.  No word as of post time.

Vernon Wells – Hit his 7th homer yesterday.  I think he hits 17 and is out for a month with a random injury, but I give up.  He could hit 25 homers this year.

Justin Maxwell – 2-for-5, as he continues to platoon with Willie Harris.  Is Maxwell going to explode?  Get smart!  He does have sneaky 10/25 potential with an every day job.

Mike Gonzalez – To meet with Dr. Freeze.  Hope everyone has their hands on Johnson.  Hmm… Probably could’ve reworded that.

Jonathan Sanchez – 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 10 Ks.  I’m pretty pissed I don’t own him in any leagues.  Oh, wait.  I own him across more teams than any other player.  Him and…

Chase Headley – 1-for-2 with 3 steals as he hits .358.  I don’t have the time or the energy, but there’s at least three dozen preseason comments of mine about how I refused to pay/reach for a 3rd baseman so I targeted Headley everywhere.

Mat Latos – 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks.  As long as he keeps pitching like this, he can keep spelling his first name like he lost a Scrabble tile.

Ryan Ludwick – 3-for-4, 2 homers yesterday.  Could be the start of a hot streak.  If someone grew bored of him, grab him off waivers.

Mark Reynolds – 1-for-2, homer and a steal.  See that, Mini Donkey just needed some goading from me.

Kelly Johnson – 3-for-6 as he continues to hit leadoff.  That’s it.  I’m not talking about him again for at least two weeks.  Do what you do.

Chad Qualls – Worked a perfect inning for the save.  I’ve dropped Gutierrez everywhere for Fister. (Then I dropped Fister for Ryota Igarashi during the “It might be K-Rod who took PEDs!” fiasco of  April 20th.)

Justin Masterson – 4 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 6 Ks.  You know what?  Against this team, it wasn’t the worst start.  His defense and some wildness let him down.

Kevin Slowey – 8 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks.  I own Slowey on a lot of teams too.  I nearly picked him for the Cy Young.  I don’t think he’s eating the hirame.

Gio Gonzalez – 4 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 5 Ks, 8 baserunners, 5 BBs.  You kinda asked for this if you threw him against the Yankees.

Rick Porcello – 4 1/3 IP, 6 ER, 5 Ks.  Porcello went mushaboom, Feist.  I own Porcello on one team, my Razzball team where I’m trying to accumulate the worst stats.

Scott Kazmir – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 Ks.  You, “Kazmir is so nasty.  I’m so glad I have him.  He’s perhaps my favorite player ever.  I’ll trade you him for Jay Bruce.”  Or at least that’s the ideal you.

Jeff Mathis – To the DL with a fractured wrist, will miss at least 6 weeks.  You know whose time it is now to catch?  Bobby Wilson!  Or maybe that Napoli character.  Yesterday, Scioscia went with Napoli and was nice enough to bat him ninth.  True story, the Angels placed Napoli not Mathis on the All-Star Ballot.  Scioscia was the one that submitted him.  With the game playing at Anaheim this year, I can only assume Scioscia was trying to make the fans happy with Napoli’s inclusion on the ballot and exclusion from every game.

  1. Terrence Mann says:

    Is Bill James even more of a super-genius than we already thought? His Nelson Cruz projections are looking better every day.

  2. Kevin says:

    hanley ramírez for cano and quentin. Who’s getting the better deal? H2H – 5×5+OPS,WHIP

  3. ujc says:

    @ Grey
    Would you drop Krispie or Rasmus for Ludwick? 5×5 Roto

  4. Asdrubal Bastardo says:

    You buying Andruw Jones at all?

  5. Tony says:

    in my RCL last nite 10-39 NO HR’s, NO RBI’s, and NO SB’s! preparing to take over last place….

  6. Steve says:

    I see your Porcello and raise you a Stubbs!

    Chances are I won’t win the hot tub, but I’d settle for one of the sushi house porn DVDs as a (ahem) booby prize.

  7. Mr_Punch says:

    pitcher shmohawk hell. Do I drop Cueto for Kazmir?

  8. Ben says:

    TerraceMann, I don’t know compare them to his Chris Davis predictions of last year before calling “him” a super genius (he no longer does those predictions, ‘Bill James’ is a brand name).

    Looks like I was Latos intolerant one start too soon, would have liked his ERA to balance out Bill’s and Masterson last night. Nice to see slowey put a gem together.

    Maybe drop Myers for Latos’ second start instead, since he was a little underwhelming.

  9. Tony says:

    @Terrence Mann: Cruz has talent NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, but he also hit .276, .311, .193, .281, .258 and .231 month to month last year. Its not GOD AWFUL splits, but for H2H he might carry you one month say MAY where he hit .311 with 8HR’s and 7sb’s last year or he might KILL YOU like in JUNE where he batted .193? ROTO wise he’s primed to put together a solid year.

    @Ben: i agree anyone can make a solid prediction here and there, but I’m not a fan of james at all…. i def’ly would NOT call him a “super genius”.

  10. Jeff says:

    We start 1 1B, 1 IF, 4 OF’s and U and 6 SP’s

    My 1B – Miggy, Kendry, Nick Johnson (Starting Miggy at 1B and Kendry at If)

    Other IF options – Blake, K. Johnson,

    My OF’s – Cruz, Wells, Hewyard, Span, BJ Upton, Hamilton, Vlad

    My SP’s – Jiminez, DeLaRosa, Lester, J. Sanchez, Kazmir, Gio, Kennedy, Morrow, Pavano

    Thought I had a trade of Nolasco for V. Wells, but he wants a 1B.

    Should I offer Kendry and Wells for Nolasco and Ellsbury (Pitching and Speed are my biggest needs)? Or does this leave me to weak at the IF spot?

  11. mikey boy324 says:

    grey you really think billz has a legit shot at tommy john?

  12. Real Tom says:

    Grey, I own Billingsley, and I’m a huge Dodger fan. On opening day, I was five feet from him in Pittsburgh and yelled “big year, Chad.” I was planning on naming my boy children bill and my daughters billingsley. If I do that now I’ll probably mildly neglect them. Stupid Billingsley.

    Because of you, however, I own Headley, Slowey, and Sanchez. Thanks.

  13. sean says:

    @Grey: any cause for concern that Haren, who’s normally untouchable in the first half, was better at the plate than on the mound last night?

  14. BKK says:

    @mikey boy324: You make that sound like a good thing.

  15. TheEvilEmpire says:

    Owner dropped Borbon. I have faith. Should I drop Cueto for Borbon? I need steals more than SP with Nolasco, Lester, Kershaw, Romero, Slowey, Correia in my rotation.

    Also interested in Fister who is on waivers but isn’t his job in jeopardy when Lee comes back?

  16. Wiley says:

    @Grey: Thank you for the mini donkey goading. He needed it and it was much appreciated.

  17. Clyde Prompto says:

    @Grey Hah, I’m also the proud owner of a couple of Ryotas as a result of yesterday’s events. Oh well, time for a recall, mofo.

  18. Cygar says:

    Johnny Danks, 8 IP, 2 H, 9 K’s. Beats the hottest team in the AL and can’t even get a mention?

  19. Schlitzy says:

    With Napoli finally getting some PT is he a better option than Soto?

  20. Jarrad says:

    @Cygar: It’s a shame he made that one mistake to Crawford, but, hey, I guess I can’t complain about him being lights out for the rest of the game…

  21. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Schlitzy: soto is sneakily hitting well. i would probably just stick with whatever you got. don’t pick at the scab, just let it be.

    i have soto in 1 league and napoli in 2 (in both leagues i trade twice to make a move to drop napoli in week 2 only to have a higher waiver priority thwart me, so this mathis news has me giddy).

  22. William says:

    @Grey – My brother told me he is using his waiver priority on Ike Davis. He is last in waiver priority so it’s no risk for him. I, on the other hand, have the #10 priority. Ike worth a #10 priority?

    Play in a 12 team 5×5 standard Roto H2H league.

  23. Tony says:

    @sean: i’m concerned, 3 HR’s last night? a 7 run win? wow…. at least he got some offensive help.

  24. ThePoonTycoon says:

    i made a slowey for lester offer yesterday before slowey’s gem. i sent the lester owner a personal email before bed to tell him to let me know something. now i am worried sick he’s gonna accept and lester has one of those isolated years where he has a 4.50 era and fights BBs all season that some SPs seem to have. not to mention fenway + al east v. target + al central. thoughts razzballers?

  25. timsti says:

    Napoli > Snyder?

  26. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @timsti: absolutely

    if anything once mathis and montero are healthy we know that montero >>>> mathis

    plus once mathis cooled off at the plate (as expected since he’s a career .210 hitter) napoli started to pick up more PT even before th injury…and hand/wrist injuries tend to linger for a full season, so i wouldn’t expect mathis to ever be hot again.

  27. Tony says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: if ur that worried take the offer down? Lester should be fine. I’m pushing for verlander and i’m not worried? Guys have only had 2-3 starts.

  28. Jarrad says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: I’ve always been a little wary of 1-for-1 SP deals, but I think this could turn out to be a lateral move for you in the end. Lester should be okay, so I wouldn’t worry if the owner happens to accept the deal.

  29. Ron Washington's Stache says:

    …f/k/a cnote

    In a deep 14 team league where SP is scarce, dropping Frasor for Latos is no brainer, right?

    @TheEvilEmpire: I would definitely drop Cueto for Borbon. Cueto’s numbers are brutal and his K/BB suggest it’s no fluke.

    Grey, keeping with Real Tom’s theme, thanks for Baker, Hamels, Slowey, Price. I own all 4 in almost every league.

  30. timsti says:

    Also, anyone know if Fuentes will be back in the closer role tonight? Should I start Rodney or Dotel?

  31. Baron Von Vulturewins

    Baron Von Vulturewins says:

    Since I always freak out about grabbing this year’s model, I thought about Pelfrey, then looked at his past K-rates and thought, No thanks.

    That was pretty easy, actually. Thanks, K-Rates!

  32. timsti says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: Werd. I have Snyder in one league where Montero is on the DL. Napoli is available as well. Guess I’ll pick up Napoli and try to trade one when Montero comes back!

  33. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Tony: yeah i mean i think it’s just standard paranoia whenever you offer up a hot start for a slow start. lester’s babip is .379 and HR/FB rate is 15% (both way higher than career nroms), his groundball rate is 50% (better than his career norm), strand rate is only 58% (way below career norm), so you mentally know that he SHOULD come back to being close to the SP he was in 2008 and 2009 once he lowers his BBs, but still that doubt in the bakc of your mind creeps in.

    and for some reason that doubt likes to ignore slowey’s injury history and the fact that he’s never topped 160 IPs and has a 90% strand rate thus far.

    do anyone have info on lester’s velocity? does it look like he’s hiding an injury or something?

  34. ThePoonTycoon says:

    fangraphs has his velocity sitting in the same range as previous seasons. ok, i think i’ve put my doubt to sleep. i just had to talk my way through it. ha.

  35. Grey,

    Cueto, Latos, or Zambrano in my 12 team roto that includes BB/K. I would be dropping Franklin Morales…who’s time as SAGNOF is short.

  36. mrbaseball says:

    Dodgers manager Joe Torre said Chad Billingsley will remain in the starting rotation.

  37. crafty35a says:

    In a shallow league, would you drop Tejada or Jose Lopez for Furcal (inexplicably dropped)? I’m thinking Tejada.

  38. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @crafty35a: yeah, tejada. lopez has 2B/3B flexibility that could come in handy in the case of a starter getting injured at either spot given how thin the positions are.

  39. SaltyBiscuits says:

    I know I only comment for my boy Big Pelf nowadays, but I absolutely assure you that this is a ‘breakout’ we’re witnessing. New confidence, new pitches, new catcher who he loves, new poise on the mound. Why would it be preposterous to think a 26 year old pitcher has turned the corner?

    His K’s will only get better as he continues to throw his new split finger for strikes. I don’t think they will ever be elite, but they will be significantly higher than what we’ve seen from him so far. Couple that with his proven track record of inducing a high percentage of ground balls, and you have an effective and durable starter pitching in a pitcher’s park in the NL. Don’t sleep on him…

  40. MattW says:

    which side do you like better:

    Lind and Hamilton for Holliday

  41. timsti says:

    “RT @closernews: Fuentes has been activated; will return to closer role. Hang on to Rodney for a while anyway.”

  42. jj says:

    Soscia is an idiot. Kendrick with a .350 avg and OBP over .400 batting 8th. And Napolit 9th.

    I think he purposely tries to piss off his fans, so that when he makes the playoffs anyway (because his roster is so much more talented than anybody else in the west) he looks like a genius. And it looks like he was smart for doing it like this the whole time.

    When in all reality they should have won the division by 15 game instead of 5 if he wasn’t so full of himself.

    What he needs to do is move Aybar down the lineup, have Abreu leadoff and bat Kendrick 2nd.

  43. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @jj: he’s the epitome of overmanaging imo.

  44. PaddyTwoTimes says:

    He looks fine. Just the walks. Last outing against the Ray’s he breezed through the line up like they were little league hitters in the first inning. We know what happened after that.

    The problem with Lester is every count go 3-2, 2-2. He will be fine, if anyone looks at his last April he sucked too.

  45. dingers says:

    holy crapola CBILLS has me concerned…to the bench he goes..Nats or not…ugh city

  46. Wiley says:

    In a H2H league. Currently slotting in Willingham and Ibanez depending on the matchup. Bourn got sent to waivers. Should I drop Willingham or Ibanez to pick Bourn up? Could be a nice chance to lock steals.

  47. Frank Rizzo says:

    Should we expect this kind of roller coaster treatment from George of the Rose all year? He would have been relatively solid last night barring a dinger by Zimm.

  48. eltoo says:

    @Tony: Don’t worry Tony, I’m protecting last place with a vengeance in the RCL league.

    Big day for the curtains today though with F-Her vs Bal, Liriano vs Cle, and Marcum vs KC.

    I’m still trying to figure out how a staff that includes SP of:

    Is in last in Ws, Ks, 2nd to last in WHIP and 3rd to last in ERA.

    I think I just need someone to hold me and tell me everything is going to be OK….

  49. FlyinHawaiianPizza says:

    Stupid me thinking Billingsly would be half decent. Should I just drop him for Latos? It could help me complete the young stud pitcher trifecta of Sanchez/Slowey/Latos.

  50. Tony says:

    @Frank Rizzo: last game was vs. the NYM, not that they are lighting the world on fire, but they do have a pretty solid team. Last nights game he basically got a 10 run lead and was in cruise control. I wouldnt be worried. He does need to knock the BB off a little tho…. that shouldnt matter who you’re playing, mets, nats, etc!

  51. Tarasco'sSecretStash says:

    @ Poon: Lester’s a notorious slow starter (career 2-6, 5.46/1.60 in April), he’ll be fine and dandy rest of the way, and I wouldn’t worry about getting the short end of the stick with that Slowey deal. That said, I remain fired up for a Slowey breakout this year, I’ve been waiting for it the past couple seasons and he looked tremendous last night (albeit against a weak offense).

    @ Grey: Methinks it’s time to end the Jeff Clement Experience, but slim-ass pickin’s on my league’s waiver wire assembly line. You see Snyder as a viable stopgap for a couple weeks, or should I be kicking the tires on trades already? Thanks!

  52. jj says:

    They keep trying to say it’s only a mental thing will Bills, but he’s only hitting 90-91 on his fastball. Didn’t he used to be at 94-95.

    So either something is wrong with his arm. Or his mechanics are out of wack from when he fatigued at the end of last year.

  53. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @eltoo: i got a daily lineup pitching staff of:
    e santana
    cj wilson

    team era: 4.39
    team whip: 1.48

    obviously i am not starting all these guys all the time either, i generally avoid @nyy. but games like masterson’s and dlr’s last night or santana’s cg i missed out on are killing me.

  54. knighttown says:

    Help guys. I’m accumulating 4th SP’s at an alarming rate and I’m going to need to make some decisions soon. How would you rank this staff?

    1. Haren
    2. Nolasco
    3. Sanchez
    4. Price
    5. Slowey
    T6. Ervin
    10. Cueto

    I’d need to drop one of these guys to find room for Berkman who would let me sit Adam Jones, Garrett Jones or Bruce from time to time, so…

    Task 1- rank those pitchers
    Task 2- advise, would you drop 10th ranked SP to activate Berkman or let him sit for another few days until you see how they go.
    Task 3- none of these “breakout guys” have any serious trade value. Would you deal Haren to upgrade and trust the rest to form a decent staff?

  55. preptime says:

    I grabbed Andrus off the waivers last night having to drop Alcides Escobar. It hurt me to do this, but I am not sure how long it will take Macha to figure out that Escobar should have the 2nd spot. Do you think Andrus has the leadoff spot the whole year or does Borbon get it back?

  56. pubscoot says:

    Andruw or Big Sloppy?

  57. ThePoonTycoon says:

    (1) haren, nolasco, slowey, sanchez, price, ervin, dlr, liriano, pelfry, cueto
    though after slowey and until pelfry the list is pretty fluid. and pelfry could be moving into that tier. you should be able to play matchups with your 4-9 guys.

    (2) drop cueto

    (3) i’d hang onto haren until you get a better feel for these “breakout guys” and more importantly, for haren to get hot so you can max out his trade value.

  58. Tony says:

    @eltoo: HA…. well i have Prince Fielder and last i looked i have a 1 in HR’s…. not that one guy really wins a category like HR’s, but still….. weak sauce!

  59. Tarasco'sSecretStash says:

    @knighttowm: That’s not a bad looking staff, I wouldn’t be so quick with the itchy trigger finger. Pelfrey’s probably got the lowest ceiling of the bunch if you need to kick someone to the curb for Berkman…

  60. eltoo says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: I’ve also been getting killed with benching starters. I try to be a little selective since the games started is capped at 180 in RCL and I don’t think even relievers stats count after that mark is reached. Off the top of my head I know I missed out on Marcum’s debut and Liriano’s gem versus Boston, but I never start pitchers against my home town team. I don’t like mixing fantasy and reality, which is unfortunate, because even after last night the red sox offense is just flat out bad and I might start myself vs them.

  61. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @eltoo: yeah, i mean ervin wasn’t great his first few games (1 @nyy so it’s more forgiveable) so i wanted to see him put a good game or 2 together before i put him in and missed on his cg. then i have the indians giving up multiple unearned runs for masterson and dlr looking great for 4 innings then imploding out of nowhere to ugly-up his line for the night.

    @Tony: i have fielder and ad gonz on the same team. somehow my power numbers have managed to be middle of the pack, but i am in last place by a large margin. here’s hoping i can skyrocket once my staff straightens out and these guys start doing their thing.

  62. Dingo says:

    I guess another poor showing by Javier Vazquez isn’t news, but I’m starting to wonder if he’s got some minor injury that’s affecting his pitching. His velocity so far this year is down 2-3 MPH from last year, and it sounds like he’s having a hard time commanding his fastball.

  63. Mike M says:

    @Grey: For my 2b and 3b positions, I have Ian Stewart, Beltre and Headley.

    I think I’m good on RBI (where Beltre should be valuable?) with Howard, Votto, Cruz, Grandy, Josh Hamilton and Mauer. However, I’m a little concerned with runs scored, since several of my guys hit late in lineups (Grandy, Beltre, Stewart)

    Kelly Johnson is available in my league. Do you think adding Johnson for Beltre is wise? The other drop option would be Rajai Davis, but I like having a guy on my bench who can help me, if need be, catch up on steals in a given week. What do you think?

  64. Wudaben says:

    To me Bills is dead! He get’s to languish away on my bench for a long time and if by chance he happens to win a couple games I’m dumping him on someone ASAP!

    Woo Hoo… two start week from Bills, Price and De La Rosa!! That’s like one of those really bad flicks that you want to walk out on before the ending…

  65. eltoo says:

    @Tony: I wouldn’t worry about Fielder (but if you are I’ll take him) or any singular player’s slow start, it’s just hard for me not to go a bit bananas when a staff is collectively flat lining. That said, I think my team gets out of the basement today and then I’m aiming for your coveted #9 spot.

  66. Clyde Prompto says:

    @Dingo: I’d be worried if I owned Vazquez. I’m no Dave Duncan, but to me it looks like he’s overthrowing his breaking pitches and can’t get them over for strikes. I don’t usually buy into the whole “he can’t handle playing in a big market” thing, but in his case I think he really might be pressing. If he’s not already nursing an injury, overthrowing offspeed pitches is a good way to pitch yourself into one.

  67. ThePoonTycoon says:

    but you are trusting cueto?? latos is a nice young player and all, but he’s still got a big learning curve and is gonna be limited innings wise by the padres. i’m not saying i would love to have z, but yeah, i’d take him long before latos or cueto.

  68. KeeblerMN says:

    SONOFABENCH! I have Haren and sat Ludwick figuring Haren would own and Ludwick would go O’fer….. I should know better than to think for myself… that’s where you come in, Grey.

  69. gaucho says:

    Got both Magglio and Vernon Wells below market at my auction, went home pissed thinking they would kill me… currently riding them to the to of the standings… how long before I sell high?

  70. @ThePoonTycoon: I totally agree on Cueto, it would be a total flier. And yes Latos innings will be limited. I am kind of looking for a stop gap while I wait for Strasburg to come up, he is on my bench.

  71. chrisbenson says:

    can i get by with a SP staff of oswalt, hudson, hughes, masterson, colby, kennedy, richard? and just mix and match in a daily league?

  72. Eric says:

    @timsti: I’d go with Dotel. Rodney’s pitched four times in five days, and with Fuentes coming off the DL today he’ll surely get the call. The Pirates are a worse team, but Dotel’s rested and if they need him he’ll be ready.

  73. Eric says:

    @timsti: I just did the same thing in one league.

  74. jesse says:

    JD Drew was just dropped in my league. You like him over Snider?

  75. Tony says:

    @eltoo: haha you can take #9 as long as i move up and not down!

    i just need to get healthy too. Rollins DL’d, i trade for Ells, DL’d and i’ve got cargo missing games every other day it seems, plus fielder is on a NO-HR DIET. Gotta be patient.

  76. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Bostonbeerman: i’d still go z. he’s got the most upside for 2010, and he also has the longest track record. cueto is borderline droppable in all but the deepest leagues right now, and latos is gonna be up and down like 99.9% of all young/rookie SPs. strasburg is not a given to be a stud when called up (i certainly wouldn’t want to be relying on him to save my staff midseason, it would be a nice addition and someone to watch and spot start, but i wouldn’t be hedging all my bets on him being pedro circa 1997-2003 when he gets the call). z is the most likely of the 3 guys to be able to give you decent production the entire season, caus eyou may need it.

  77. CMR says:

    Grey, would you trade brian roberts for Billingsley? do you think Billingsley gets it together? Kendrick would be my starting 2b

  78. majortommy says:

    Grey, I did throw Gonzalez against the Yankees, in my Razzball league, the dude got me 14.17 points. Even better than that Charlie Morton was fantastically bad! 5 earned runs in one inning? Come on man!!!

    p.s. I owe you an apology for Aardsma. I was a doubter and you nailed it right on the head. I am sorry I doubted you. I am now awaiting your apology for Billingsly. He is killing me.

  79. Bob says:

    David Ortiz or Ike Davis?

    Cory Hart or Chris Coghlan?

  80. Bob says:

    Clint Barmes or Erick Aybar?

  81. Eric says:

    Hi Grey — Please put these four guys in order from best to worse: Buchholz, Marcum, Masterson, and Latos.

    In a 20-team league, could you see spot starting Garland at home tonight in Petco against SF and Todd Wellemeyer?

    And, finally, which of the following are worth trying to buy low on, between Grady Sizemore, Aaron Hill, Markakis, Borbon, and Sexei Alexei? Thanks.

  82. royce! says:

    On behalf of the Indians defense, I want to point out that it was Masterson himself who caused the unearned runs by throwing a wild pitch and then a throwing error. So when Grey says “his defense” let him down, it means Masterson’s own actions, not the other members of the team.

    That said, it could have been a lot worse. Mauer K’d in the 1st with 2 aboard, and then grounded out with the bases loaded to end the 2nd. So apparently Masterson can handle some lefties.

  83. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Terrence Mann: Super geniuses are those Christopher Lloyd babies.

    @Kevin: Hanley

    @ujc: Rasmus doesn’t give you the power of a hot Ludwick, so, yeah, if you need power.

    @Asdrubal Bastardo: I’d take a flier on him, but I don’t trust him.

    @Steve: If you can finish 2nd…

    @Mr_Punch: I’d give Cueto one more start.

    @Jeff: I’d want the Nolasco side.

    @sean: Eh, just a hiccup.

    @mikey boy324: No, no idea what’s wrong.

    @TheEvilEmpire: Go with Borbon, Fister keeps his job if he pitches well.

    @Wiley: I do what I can.

    @Clyde Prompto: Ha

    @Cygar: You mentioned him.

    @Schlitzy: Not really.

    @William: Sure

    @timsti: Yup

    @Ron Washington’s Stache: I’d go with Latos.

    @timsti: Dotel… Supposed to be Fuentes.

    @Baron Von Vulturewins: Hehe

    @Bostonbeerman: Don’t drop Morales.

    @crafty35a: Tejada

    @SaltyBiscuits: My concern is more if when he turned the corner, he’s worth grabbing.

    @MattW: Holliday side, but close. Could see if you need depth.

    @timsti: Thanks for the update!

    @jj: Yup

    @Wiley: Lose Willingham for him.

    @Frank Rizzo: That’s how he do.

    @FlyinHawaiianPizza: Don’t drop him.

    @Tarasco’sSecretStash: I wouldn’t trade for a catcher. You wanna try Snyder, go for it.

    @knighttown: Gotta lose Cueto.

    @preptime: Hard to say, should hold it.

    @pubscoot: Jones

    @Dingo: Yeah, not sure.

    @Mike M: You have Davis, isn’t he your answer?

    @KeeblerMN: Sorry

    @gaucho: Sooner vs. later.

    @chrisbenson: Sure

    @jesse: Nope

    @CMR: I wouldn’t make that trade. Trade Roberts for someone who you can currently trust.

    @majortommy: Sorry

    @Bob: Davis… Hart… Barmes…

    @Eric: That order looks okay. But they’re all matchups guys. Marcum not against AL East, Latos at home, Masterson against righties… Etc. Anyone at Petco. Sizemore…

  84. AL KOHOLIC says:

    woooa nellie,cruz says he will play tonight,only a cramp last night

  85. @ThePoonTycoon: Good points. Keeper league by the way, so hedging my bets with Strasburg…maybe some production this year, but more expected next.

  86. I'm Keith Hernandez says:

    Is Bay a good buy low or has the Mets stink gotten on Bay? They bay owner in my obp league is looking to move him.

  87. @Grey: I had a feeling you were going to tell me not to drop Morales! SAGNOF it is until SAGNOF no longer. Street could be out til June for all we know. You da man by the way.

  88. majortommy says:

    @Grey: Accepted. Also is it time to cut the dead weight that is Chris Davis from my H2H league? He is not a starter and I love his first/third and every few days I think he is about to break out but he doesn’t. Ludwick is available, should i make the move?

  89. Tom Emanski says:

    We’re barely a month in and we have all-star ballots??

  90. I'm Keith Hernandez says:

    @majortommy: get ludwick, Davis is done….

  91. sucklingduck says:

    offered his Liriano and Willingham for my Wandy and Rasmus. which side do you guys prefer? better question would be Liriano or Wandy since i don’t want Willingham and want to keep Rasmus.

  92. ABell says:

    You like E santana or B penny as your 6th behind Johan, Ubaldo, Sanchez, Weaver, and Cueto?

  93. mauledbypanas says:

    commence the Nellie Cruz nagging injury parade!

    From ESPN:

    Cruz confirmed that his hamstring injury Tuesday was only a cramp, and he expects to play Wednesday against the Red Sox, the Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant reports.

  94. jj says:

    grey, what do you think is up A. Jones. Wasn’t expecting this.

    Would just write it off as an early season slump, except for 2nd half last year too.

    Getting a littled worried. Taking strikes and swinging at balls.

  95. papasmurf says:

    Nice break for me and Napoli. Bad break, literally, for Mathis, but only on a team with a crappy hitting ex-catcher would he have been a starter.

    How do you submit your “backup” catcher as all-star candidate? This to me shows Sciocia knows Napoli is the better player.

  96. I'm Keith Hernandez says:

    @majortommy: Ride Ludwick while he’s hot

  97. johnny o says:

    trade kevin millwood (20k 2.89,1.29) for Hunter Pence?
    Start 5 OF 2 UT and I have braun,kemp,hunter,sizemore,damon,a jackson,chipper filling those positions. If I trade, who do I lose-Jackson?
    Millwood is my 7th starter-alternate with Randy Wolf.

  98. Spaceman.Spiff says:

    A-Rod + Rickie Weeks for Hanley + Carlos Lee in 10-team 5×5+OPS+L league. Who wins?

  99. mauledbypandas says:

    wasn’t napoli catching the last Santana gem? I want to pick him up, but I have been riding the hot catcher so far and I think pudge has a little bit left in his streak.

  100. Danny says:

    @Grey: Would you play Sheets tonight vs NYY?

  101. stynyr says:

    1) Should I re-pickup Napoli and lose Snyder?
    2) One guy says Utley is available. Do I offer Haren or Kershaw plus someone else as my initial offer.
    3) Should I make a new stynyr’s team thread in the new forums or are you going to continue to check the old Roster Rants Raves and Reviews forum.

    If this message repeats, I apologize.

    Thanks, Grey.

  102. Frank Rizzo says:

    Watching Reyes finally break through last night gave me a broner. I invested heavily in this guy in a couple leagues and if last night was a sign of things to come……damn! He’d better not be moved to 3rd in the lineup now. Leave him alone where he’s finally looking comfortable. That is all.

  103. Eric says:

    If you were back in Vegas and had to make a bet, who do you think gets the save chance for Philly a week from today?

  104. Dingo says:

    @ABell: I like both of them ahead of Cueto.

  105. Nelson Cruz (hamstring) expects to be in the lineup on Wednesday.

  106. ThePoonTycoon says:

    slowey/maybin/rauch for haren/(wood or gregg)

  107. Beau says:

    To pick up pelfrey in keeper league can i drop crash davis, robot, beltran, webb, or clay/hughes?

  108. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: also, only reason i’d want wood or gregg back is to at least have a low end closer to give me a few saves, as i don’t have a 3rd closer right now and the wire is slim pickings. i know wood is still a few weeks out too.

  109. Tony says:

    @johnny o: i just picked Milwood off the waivers in my RCL last night.

  110. @Grey: Not the usual question you field, but do you know where to find a current list of teams that are easiest/hardest to steal on? What I know is purely anecdotal.

  111. preptime says:

    Daily Notes on ESPN has a rating from 1-10 based on how easy it is to steal against that team’s catcher. That seems pretty close to what you are looking for even if that means you have to browse ESPN.

  112. mrbaseball says:

    “And the sign said, long-haired freaky people need not apply”.

    Madison Bumgarner bounced back from two poor showings to allow two runs — one earned — and three hits in six innings for Triple-A Fresno on Monday. reported that Bumgarner was hitting the low-90s regularly with his fastball for the first time this year. If that’s the case, it’s a very good SIGN.

  113. Grey

    Grey says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: You’re trading away a top closer because you needs saves? I’m confused. Trade looks just okay for you.

    @Beau: Eh

    @mrbaseball: Thanks for the update!

  114. penpen says:

    looking at Bills’ PitchFX info on fangraphs: here’s his percentage Fastballs starting in 2007 until 2010: 67%, 58%, 43%, 27%

    Meanwhile he’s throwing 2% curveballs this year after averaging about 18% over the last three years, his cutter rate has gone from 6, to 7, to 20% over the last three years and this year its 30%. fastball velocity is a bit down, but he’s using his slower cutter more than the his normal fastball anyway. PLUS his curve and his slider have dropped in velocity 8 mph and 7 mph respectively which seems drastic to me.

    Not sure what this all means but he’s certainly changed his approach drastically. And not sure what would cause his huge drops in velocity on his breaking ball… maybe he can’t throw them as hard because he’s hiding arm pain, since breaking balls put bigger strain on the arm. than fastballs?

  115. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Grey: i guess is the upgrade from slowey to haren worth it. i’m downgrading saves (h2h league so not a crushing blow) and tossing in maybin, who while hot is still at the end of my bench for my hitters.

  116. timSTi says:

    @Grey: Just realized Jim Johnson’s still a FA. Drop Rodney for him?

  117. Kazmere says:

    Pick 2:
    Sparkless-kakis @Felix
    Bruce vs Kuroda
    Granderson @Sheets
    JUpton vs Carp

    thx for yesterdays stellar picks, Grey! Pulled me into 2nd place!!

  118. Doot Doot says:

    Drop C.Jack for Kotchman or Mr. Ike Davis? (5×5 roto).

  119. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @Tony: i emailed the haren owner about him last night and since this is a h2h league, he’s already going RP heavy (2SP, 2RP, 3P spots in weekly lineups) and wants to go after saves, era. personally not a fan of that plan of attack but to each his own. it’s also a keeper league so maybin has a little more value than in a single season league.

  120. sneauxman says:

    I hear Salty has an alternate nickname better than Salty: Pits. Given to him in the minors because his name on his back runs from armpit to armpit.

  121. Shmorgie S. Board says:

    April 21 is now Get Mike Napoli Day.

    Sounds like an indy comedy set in Staten Island, true, but it’s also a good idea.

  122. Howie Met Your Mother says:

    Looking to pick up Headly for some UTIL and part time 3B action. Need to drop Beltre, Alcides Escobar, or Blanks. Would you get rid of one of those three for Chase?

  123. Howie Met Your Mother says:

    And I’m okay on steals with Adrus, Kemp and Reynolds.

  124. AJ says:

    Vmart and V. Wells for Napoli, L. Scott, J. Lester

    pros/cons? clear winner, or coin toss?

  125. chrisbenson says:

    are c richard and mike pelfrey the same person?

  126. chrisbenson says:

    also, is mike gonzalez getting freezed? or do you think he will be back?

  127. Wilsonian says:

    Shallow league (8 teams) H2H (R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, Avg./W, L, SV, BB, K, ERA, WHIP, K/9)…have Utley, Longo, Stewart…drop Beckham/Abreu for Furcal/Ludwick/Headley?

    Current OF: Kemp, Cruz, B-Up, Abreu

    Current SS: Bartlett

  128. Pochucker says:

    Billingsley has not been the same since a game early last summer where he was mowing them down and then tweaked something in his leg and had to leave. He has lost velocity and bite on his breaking ball since then. Something is physically wrong.

  129. Dynasty27 says:

    G.Jones for Hamels?

  130. Eddy says:

    Strasburg tore through the Reading lineup Tuesday, allowing just one hit and a walk through five shutout innings, while striking out six. He was on a strict workload limit after coming back on short rest following his rain-shortened outing Friday, but needed just 68 pitches to cruise through those five innings. Strasburg now has a 17:3 K:BB ratio through his first 12.1 professional innings.

  131. @Dynasty27:

    Id take Hamels there in a heartbeat.

  132. Eddy says:

    Whoever is getting Hamels is winning by a large margin. Jones hasn’t hit a HR since he went deep in his first five of the season. Cust ‘kayin.

  133. Joe says:

    Is Jason Bartlett a buy low option?

  134. Eddy says:

    Three of his first five*

  135. Tony says:

    @Eddy: they need to bring him up! haha…. i need all the help i can get in my RCL.

  136. @Shmorgie S. Board: I think that was an Elmore Leonard novel.

  137. jj says:

    Sorry Grey, I was referring to how bad Ad. Jones is not how good Andruw Jones is doing.

  138. Eddy says:

    If they keep babying him like this in the minors then he can possibly go deep in the bigs. I think he could be a huge surprise when he comes up.

  139. Dynasty27 says:

    @Eddy: Yea I should have tried to sell G.jones a lot sooner.

    Anyone starting CJ Wilson against the sox struggling lineup tomorrow?

  140. Tony says:

    @Eddy: he could pitch in the bigs RIGHT NOW…. he doesn’t need babied, the dude threw all thru college, etc, I know the season is longer, but he’s ready. The only reason they’re waiting is arbitration.

    I hope i get some solid outtings from him and lots of K’s when he does come up.

  141. Tom Reale says:

    So is it time to cut-cut and check-check the FA pool-pool?

  142. Eddy says:

    I was looking back through Rudy’s risky pitchers for 2010, and I was wondering if Wainwright is still considered a risky pitcher? The main argument was that he threw a lot more breaking balls than anyone last year, but after watching a couple of his starts, I don’t see any reason he’d slow down.

    With that said, I’m thinking of trading Adam Jones for Wainwright.

    My OF: Werth, Grandy, Quentin, Bruce, Rajai

    My SP: Lester, Hamels, Kershaw, Slowey, Filthy, Ervin, Jaime, and Pelfrey

    I’m just worried that my pitchers are either going to pitch amazing (like Slowey or Filthy last night) or just implode at any given start. I feel like Wainwright can help offset that.

    Is it worth it? Or should I sit tight and keep on hoping Jones takes advantage of the lead-off spot?

  143. Tony says:

    @Eddy: i dont think another owner is dealing his wainy for your adam jones, but you can try, your OF should be fine w/o him.

  144. Eddy says:

    What I was implying was that they won’t cap his innings too much when he’s promoted. There was concern about the IP max the Nats are gonna give him, but if they keep on pulling him out of the game in the 5th or 6th inning then when he does get promoted, he should be able to pitch deep into games.

    I know it sounds a little confusing but ya get what I’m saying?

  145. Eddy says:

    That’s what I thought, but I remembered I asked Grey in the pre-season what’s the best way to measure position player value for pitcher value, and he basically implied that for now, the top 100 is fine. Jones and Wainy are relatively close there. I’ll probably throw Ervin in there too..

  146. jesse says:

    I’ve got Shin-Soo Choo and Carl Crawford. Another guy’s go Lincecum and wants to deal him. You’d give up Choo and Crawford, both off to hot starts, for Lincecum and Jason Bay, right?

    (Note: it’s a points league, so I’m not worried about losing CC’s stolen bases or getting back Bay’s low average – I just want his homeruns… and I assume he’ll turn it around).

  147. charlie batch says:

    billy butler vs. david price, which side do you like

  148. Awesomus Maximus

    Awesomus Maximus says:

    This has nothing to do with anything posted or commented, but I wanted to mention that I watched Fantasyland last night (with my wife… how cool is she?) and found it extremely entertaining and hilarious at times. I’d put it up there with other dorkumentaries like Word Wars, Wordplay and Spellbound. I highly recommend it to all of you, and you can confidently invite your significant other to watch it with you, even if (or especially if) they think your “hobby” is ridiculous. Looking forward to the interview with the film’s director Rudy mentioned.

  149. Tom Reale says:

    Nice Slowey post. I own him everywhere too. Not only is he avoiding the hirame, but he must have got his hands on some uni pre-game. No BB’s was nice to see.

  150. drew says:

    masterson, carmona, jason vargas, or doug fister. is masterson the obvious pick up here?

  151. @3FingersBrown: I’m throwing you a clue because I like Elmore Leonard readers. Click on the little curvy arrow next to a person’s name, and it’ll automatically put the @3FingersBrown: thingy in your reply box, all hyperlinky and whatnot.

  152. charlie batch says:

    @drew: not an obvious pick, but Masterson

  153. agarthered says:

    Everth or Furcal?

  154. jesse says:

    @agarthered: Furcal. Unless you need the SBs.

  155. Eddy says:

    Do you think my Adam Jones and Ervin Santana for his Wainwright is lowballing it too much? Or am I offering a fair trade?

  156. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Eddy: Sounds fair enough.

  157. Tom Reale says:

    @Awesomus Maximus: Nice. I’m watching it later today. Found it for free online.

  158. Tom Reale says:

    @Grey: It was a serious question. Are you moving on from Frank-Frank yet?

  159. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Tom Reale: I don’t even remember a Francisco question, but no, I’m not.

  160. Howard says:

    Hi Grey, Someone in my 12 team roto just dropped Brian Roberts. I have Hill coming back this weekend and Kendrick filling in at 2B with Furcal as my MI.
    Is it worth a shot going after Roberts or have I got too much of a good thing? Thanks!

  161. Wilsonian says:

    @Grey: Did your “eh” reply mean that a Becks or Abreu drop for Furcal, Headley or Ludwick is a wash, at best? I’m sure I’m looking too much into it, but Becks and Abreu haven’t looked too solid at this point. Thanks!

  162. knighttown says:

    Running a little over on IP. Is it OK if I sit Ervin at home to the Yanks and Nolasco at Coors?

  163. AJ says:

    D. Fister for M. Cameron?

    Fister’s hot right now… Cameron out for awhile…

  164. B.J. says:

    10 team Yahoo H2H 5×5

    Side A gets Johan and AGonz
    Side B get Grady and Prince

    Which side wins?

  165. MarkM says:

    H2H 6×6 with OBP and Losses. I was offered Bruce for Marmol. I have plenty of closers on the DL (Gonzo, Fuentes, Wood) so saves aren’t an issue long-term. I’m stacked at OF, but do 2xUtil so I can still make room for him. This is too good to pass up, right?

  166. MarkM says:

    @MarkM: Should have mentioned, 12 team with deep benches. Damon is the only semi-rosterable OF in the FA pool.

  167. Tom Reale says:

    @Grey: Thanks. I’m one bad outing away from cutting bait. You don’t think Neftali will run with the job? And, I’ve been posting Madson’s a Cuddle-boy since early March, as soon as I found out what one was.

  168. wakeNbake says:

    How do you feel about Brandon Webb once he returns?

  169. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Tom Reale: Feliz blows two games in a row and Francisco pitches well, the whole thing changes. In my leagues, I’m holding Francisco for now.

    @wakeNbake: Eh

  170. @Grey:

    Speaking of holding, Im holding Frasor for that same reason (tho if there were any better option there I would have taken it already), same deal as with F-Frank you think?

  171. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Elijah: I’d drop Frasor in most leagues, but depends on the situation of your team and league a bit.

  172. @Grey:

    There’s nothing really there closer wise…just speculative pickups like M Corpas. People are rostering anyone with even a hint of closing.

  173. nick m. says:

    H2H leagues where I’m streaming pitchers to some extent – do you like Wolf against Pitt tomorrow despite his rough outings lately, and then possibly as a 2-starter next week again against Pitt and maybe @ S.D.?

  174. @nick m.:

    I’m rolling Wolf just because his opposition has been putrid and it is Pitt, they are liable to strikeout a lot. I’ll take 6 IP 4 ER and a W with a splash of K’s, if you are expecting more tho…

  175. Griff says:

    Gio Gonzalez wasn’t nearly as bad as his line suggests. With two out and two on in the first, he threw a 2-2 hook (say that five times fast) to Cano that was pretty much right down the middle. The ump called it a ball. Cano fouled a couple off and worked a walk. Next up, Posada hit a sharp grounder to first that hit Barton in the chest and he couldn’t recover to make the play. It got ruled a hit. It was a clear error in my mind. All 3 of the runs in the first inning should have been unearned because of that.

    Gio got pulled with two guys on base in the fifth, and the reliever promptly gave up a moonshot to A-Rod. There’s your 5 runs.

    I have Gio in one league, and I’m definitely holding for now.

    Maybin vs Norris or JUp vs Carpenter?

  177. nick m. says:

    @Elijah: yes, i’m on the shoot for W’s, K’s, Saves and hope to fall into ERA and Whip some weeks plan. My biggest problem is that I have too many position players and will need to drop either Konerko, Pence, or Jose Guillen. (I inteded to stream but I keep latching on to position player talent on the WW…

  178. Ben says:

    Start Harang vs LAD?

  179. and1mcgee says:

    @Griff: Thanks a lot for this detailed observation, from one concerned Gio owner who missed the game. You get a gold star sticker.

  180. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Griff: Thanks for the breakdown!

    @Kazmere: Upton

    @Ben: If you own, you should start him.

  181. wakeNbake says:

    better pickup off FA… Jaime Garcia, Brandon Morrow or Big-Z?

  182. crews says:

    Hatin’ on the Royals pen right now…I want tomorrow’s KC Star headline to read: “Greinke Wanted For Questioning in the Murder of Two Teammates.”
    By the way, Grey, Fred Lewis just MAY put the Jays over the top. :-)

  183. william says:

    @Grey – Franklin Morales or Fernando Rodney or push?

    I currently have Heath Bell and David Aardsma along with Morales, but I’m thinking of dropping Morales for Rodney and speculate Rodney takes over for Fuentes.

  184. Commish Cauda says:

    Pick ONE to start this week, deep H2H-POINTS League:

    Mike Leake vsLAD (Padilla)
    Ted Lilly @MIL (D. Davis)
    Brett Myers vsPIT (Morton)

  185. @nick m.:

    To me that’s too many offensive bench guys…you cant utilize that many.

  186. william says:

    @Everyone – I forget which site had a great weekly column that speculated on starting pitchers to target that compared their ERA to FIP. I found real gems throughout last year (Ubaldo, Blanton, to name a few) off of those lists.

    anyone know what site I’m talking about? For the life of me, I can’t remember.

  187. and1mcgee says:

    @william: I think that was

    hmmm… i’ll check it daily just in case.

  188. crews says:

    @william: Fuentes will be back today…unless he messes up, Rodney goes back to set-up.
    @Commish Cauda: Give me Lilly out of those guys anytime. Especially against Doug Davis.

  189. Awesomus Maximus

    Awesomus Maximus says:

    Wright/Kershaw vs. Kinsler/Halladay

    Vacuum pack, which side you taking?

  190. preptime says:

    @Awesomus Maximus:

    Depends on how much faith you have in Kinsler staying healthy for the rest of the year.

  191. nick m. says:

    @Elijah: Oh, I agree. I just can’t figure out who to drop (trades just don’t happen in this league). i have Tex and Berkman just came off the DL, so I’m thinking that Konerko is the man to go?

  192. Commish Cauda says:

    @crews: normally, I’d agree with you, but it’s not the no-brainer as it seems with it being his first start off the DL

  193. Tom Reale says:

    @Mark Geoffriau: Thanks for that. He sounds like a blind man trying to explain Picasso.

  194. Awesomus Maximus

    Awesomus Maximus says:

    @preptime: Sure, but factor in the risk and pick a side.

    Actually, I hate the vagueness of posts like mine, so I’ll lay it out. This is in my main league, I’ll be getting the Kins/Doc side, I’m in need of Runs and SBs, but could also use an upgrade in pitching. I’ve got plenty of offense (Pujols, Hanley, Miggy, Kemp to name a few), other guy has plenty of pitching (Lincy, Doc, Wainwright, Slowey to name a few) and could use some more offense.

    Other guy also happens to be my oldest and closest friend, so I have no interest in ripping him off. He’s not as “knowledgeable” as I am, so he’s taking my word for it that Kershaw has big potential and Kinsler has big risk. Just would like some backup that this is, all things considered, a pretty even trade.

  195. dsimon says:

    Welp, another ND for Zack. FML.

  196. Tom Reale says:

    @william: I like holding onto Rodney. Fuentes could easily end up on the Disgraceful list in no time.

  197. @Tom Reale: “A hit, a run, a triple plaayyyy….a cup check, a sac fly, a playoff raaaace.”

  198. and1mcgee says:

    @Mark Geoffriau: thanks for the Stapp song. It’s pitiful.

  199. @Tom Reale:

    I think it depends who else is out there. In a public league I just shuffled him off for Jim Johnson since no one else is picking him up.

  200. preptime says:

    @Awesomus Maximus:

    The risk that Kinsler gets hurt again or stinks up batting average again is about equal to the risk that Kershaw transforms completely into BBershaw. Conversely each one of their upside’s is similar.

    It basically comes down to Wright and Halladay, which is about equal depending on needs.

  201. Awesomus Maximus

    Awesomus Maximus says:

    @Mark Geoffriau: Wow… that is awful on a epic scale. Not only did listening to that song make me throw up in my mouth, it also made me want to drop Hanley and Johnson to waivers.

  202. crews says:

    @Commish Cauda: Point. Lilly is not necessarily a fast starter, but I like him for the fact that he doesn’t beat himself too often.
    Not sure how your points work (I’m in two [email protected] points leagues) but BB’s make me insane and Leake’s got 12 in two starts. That’s gonna bite him if he doesn’t straighten it out.
    As far as Myers goes, he’s been good for me in the past, but that was then…he’s got to string together some good starts before he reaches that level again…especially with that team he’s on.

  203. Commish Cauda says:

    @crews: I hear ya…I’m really counting on Lilly moving forward, but I’d rather go with Myers at home verses Morton than risk Lilly in his first start back on the road against the big bats of MIL. Looks like Grey agrees…

    That being said, I hope Lilly shuts them out…it’ll only benefit me more down the road.

  204. Awesomus Maximus

    Awesomus Maximus says:

    @preptime: That’s pretty much how I’m looking at it. Thanks for the affirmation.

    @Grey: Mooch us grassy ass, seen your.

  205. Tom Emanski says:

    @Tom Emanski: That should’ve said early July. He didn’t get a hold for 3 months.

  206. Clyde Prompto says:

    Howdy, Grey. Just wondering your gut feeling on how the O’s pen shakes out. I was thinking about taking a flier on The Great Mickolio in my AL-Only league, but thought I’d seek a second opinion.

  207. crews says:

    @grey: Gordon just hit the game-winning HR…we gonna see a “buy” on him anytime soon? :-)
    “All Your Bruces Belong To Us”…priceless. I just grabbed him off of waivers in a league.

  208. ThePoonTycoon says:

    haha, i wonder how long gordon will sit on waivers in my leagues. i think everyone has been burned at least once so everyone is a little gun shy of him.

  209. wily mo says:

    “You like E santana or B penny as your 6th behind Johan, Ubaldo, Sanchez, Weaver, and Cueto?”

    i second the motion to grab both guys and lose cueto.

    i really don’t understand the abiding passion for cueto on here. sure he’s got upside, but so do a lot of these arms. to me he’s still part of the Young Pitching Morass. if a guy from the Young Pitching Morass isn’t performing, and there’s another talented arm that is, i lose him in a heartbeat.

  210. GopherDay says:

    Would anyone trade Garza straight up for Lester?

  211. BookieBob says:

    “Don’t worry, they still have 6 holes in their lineup.”

    Hmmmm…. frequent commenter “Eldrick” wants to know more.

  212. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @GopherDay: i wouldn’t. garza has the same pedigree as lester, pitches for a better team, and has been ramping up to big season getting progressively better over the last few years. he hasn’t had a 9+K/9 season like lester yet, but he’s right on the verge. he’s had 2 full seasons of starting without issue, and his peripherals are pretty close to lester’s the past 2 seasons. obviously he’s going to regress some from his current numbers, but he could easily be this season’s grienke, and if he pitched for boston (like lester) he would have been much more highly regarded coming into the season.

  213. @Awesomus Maximus: It’s a push. At least with the prince song, I can picture those hot twins writhing around. I have Grienke on a team, and no Bay anywhere, so I’ll go with B. Either way it should have been somewhat expected.

    Give me The Hold Steady doing “Take Me Out To the Ball Game” any day.

  214. Mike D. says:

    Grey, someone offered me one (1) of the following for Big Papi in my AL Only last night:

    -Juan Pierre
    -Milton “Crazy Eyes” Bradley

    Your thoughts, please? Thanks.

  215. PaddyTwoTimes says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: @3FingersBrown:

    I got to offer a dissenting opinion here. John Lester is a notoriously slow starter. Boston has a great defense. I would not say after 14 games that Tampa Bay is better, though they may be.

    Lester LH: last year totals: 203 IP, 225 K, 3.41, 1.23 whip
    Garza RH: 2009: 203 IP 189 K, 3.95, 1.26 whip

    That is what roughly 30 more K’s in same amount of innings and .5 runs better for Lester.

  216. Tom Reale says:

    @GopherDay: @ThePoonTycoon: I second the Poon.

    @Awesomus Maximus: I’d put them both on continuous play over having to sit through “Sweet Caroline” one more time.

  217. Calogero says:

    for my IF position – drop Robot Jones for Adam LaRoche?

  218. and1mcgee says:

    @Grey ESPN just convinced me to not start Hudson today vs. Phi

    what do you say? thanks. anyone’s input is welcomed.

  219. @PaddyTwoTimes: I wasn’t arguing Garza over Lester. In fact, I’d probably take Lester too, even though I’m a big Garza fan.

    @Tom Reale: Just awful. I don’t know what’s worse, “Sweet Caroline,” or “Cotton Eyed Joe.”

  220. ThePoonTycoon says:

    tampa bay has a pretty stellar D too and doesn’t play in fenway. maybe the red sox lineup comes around and scores runs, but i don’t see them being better than middle of the road offensively.

    while yeah, lester had better numbers than garza last year, they weren’t that much better. not so much so that i couldn’t easily imagine a scenario where lester puts up garza’s 2009 numebrs while garza puts up lester’s 2009 numbers. i mean, we aren’t talking about paul maholm turning into chris carpenter, garza having a better season than lester is completely reasonable and feasible. plus lester ramped up his K totals over a couple season before busting through with 225 last year, likewise garza has been ramping his up the last few years, so why couldn’t he bust through with 200+ this year? it’s not like lester has done it more than once.

    i think lester will be fine, but i also think next year garza will be being drafted near the top of the SPs like lester was this year. i mean, we aren’t talking about dumping brad penny before the duncan magic wears off, we are talking about a young guy we’ve been watching slowly grow to this break out, or even kevin slowey whose had injruy issues.

    so if you aren’t a believer in garza being for real, then yeah trade him. but if you are a believer, you are merely trading for the name who was drafted higher instead of recognizing garza could easily have the better season and come august you might be wondering why you didn’t take lester’s 8+ april era more seriously.

  221. PureBwa says:

    Would you trade either Shields/Ervin Santana for Lester?

  222. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @PureBwa: 100% absolutely

  223. Mike D. says:

    @GopherDay: It’s not a bad thought. In 2010, Garza’s faced BAL twice and BOS (he’s always owned them thru his career), while Lester’s pitched vs. NYY, MIN, and TB (3 of the best hitting teams in the AL). And, from a career standpoint, Lester’s been better than Garza.

    As the saying goes, though, “A bird in the hand…” Regardless of opponent, Garza’s pitching better than Lester. Why mess with that?

    Conclusion: I’d stand pat… unless you can get another useful part to make it worthwhile. An upgrade via a second player (improve yourself somewhere else) in the deal would make it interesting to me.

  224. Ron Washington's Stache says:

    Thoughts on dealing away Rodney to acquire Francoeur?
    It’s a deep 14 team league, so my team has many weakness, mainly offense and saves. I’m essentially giving up on Rodney cause I don’t think he’s good, Fuentes is back, and I am intrigued with the progress that Francouer has shown as a hitter since becoming a Met. Also, this league counts K’s a negative stat hitters, so I think Francouer has extra value, due to his combo of power/low K’s.

  225. Mike D. says:

    I want to mention I’m a Red Sox fan… I’ve seen Lester’s starts and one of Garza’s, so I feel like I can offer an opinion like I did (“Garza’s pitching better than Lester”).

  226. PaddyTwoTimes says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: At taking April 8+ era seriously.

    Last year lester had an era of 5.04 April/ 5.86 in May. Highest after that was 3.07 in Sept and Oct.

    Pre Allstar Break: 3.87
    Post: 2.8

    2008 Highest ERA was in April.

    Not sayin I do not believe in Garza or he is an up and comer. Jon Lester has already done it. Twice. And April/May have always been bad. It is like when you draft Teix.

    @3FingersBrown: Not sayin you were my friend.

  227. Mike D. says:

    @PureBwa: Hit accept, don’t wait.

  228. @and1mcgee:

    I’m rolling him, even if its Halladay and Philly hes at home and there’s a reasonable chance he gets the W. If you are sitting guys all the time its hard to keep up with the K’s and W’s, yeah Hudson isn’t gonna get a lot of K’s but every one is one you wont have on the bench, SP’s are on my team to be played.

  229. Moonlight's Grahams says:

    Just like errybody else, I need to drop someone for Berkman to bring his aging mediocrity into my lineup. Beltre, Billy Butler, and Garrett Jones are my top three options. any suggestions?

  230. Mike says:

    Do I drop JJ Hardy for either Asdrubal or Miguel Tejada?

  231. Rick Dempsey says:

    @Grey: I think that you’re wrong about Cantu’s good run lately…..The real problem is that he has the same problem that you mentioned about Carlos Quentin earlier this month and that is that he crowds the plate and doesn’t pull off quick enough to protect his wrists. That’s what did Cantu in at the end of April last year.

    Do you think Coughlan’s eventually going to take over the leadoff spot? Maybin’s having some good AB’s and has openly said that he embraces leading off (which he usually hates) because of who’s hitting behind him.

  232. chrisbenson says:

    grey…if you could nab one of the following, who would you trade for in a KEEPER league that counts K’s, BB, R, HR, RBI, SB, and total bases?

    wright, arod, or howard

  233. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @PaddyTwoTimes: i’m actively trying to trade for lester in a league. why? i think he rebounds. but i’m not paying garza to see if he does, i am trying to do a deal around slowey who has yet to put in a full season (injuries) even though he’s been up and coming for a few years. i don’t think garza was that far behind lester heading into 2010 except in Ws and we all should know better than to use Ws to rate SPs. just seems to me the trade is 50-50 whether lester or garza comes out better from this point forward, and i don’t like that kinda trade. why pay nearly full price for a buy low candidate (lester) when the guy you are trading could easily have the better season? garza is young, on a good team, and has been ramping up to this year. he’s not injury prone or an old guy breaking through out of nowhere or a rookie off to a hot start. he’s an established high end prospect that’s hitting his prime years after 2 full solid seasons.

    just seems to me you are throwing a dart at a board in choosing whether lester or garza is better the rest of the season and that’s not a good feeling.

  234. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @chrisbenson: wright

  235. wakeNbake says:

    ***Carlos Zamabrano will be shifted to the Cubs’ bullpen on Friday.*** wow… needless to say, what value he had left just took a dive.

  236. PaddyTwoTimes says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: Gotcha.

    I now get your point about a possible lateral move in the trade. I still, personally, think I would trade Garza for Lester. But, I am also a Sox fan so there you go.

  237. chrisbenson says:

    whos taking his rotation spot?

  238. Boyle says:

    What’s everyone’s take on Chris Davis. I drafted him in both my H2H leagues (12 and 14 man leagues).

    I picked up Alex Gordon and dropped Davis.

    And in the other league I dropped Davis for Wigginton.

    I know Crash Davis’s potential…but..I also saw what he did in 1st half of last year.

  239. and1mcgee says:

    @Boyle: sounds like you already made a decision.

  240. ThePoonTycoon says:

    @chrisbenson: says to make room for lilly. damn, the cbs blurb is harsh calling sweet lou stupid.

  241. wakeNbake says:

    Shocking, but not a terrible baseball move. Big Z has struggled to keep runners off base in his first three starts of the season and the Cubs’ bullpen has been awful in Angel Guzman’s absence. Zambrano’s stuff, still nasty, should translate well into a setup role. That said, his fantasy value just plummeted through the floor and he will be of little use in non-holds leagues. Carlos Silva will hang onto a rotation spot until his inevitable collapse.

  242. wakeNbake says:

    @ThePoonTycoon: yeh looks like to make room for Lilly. I figured Silva was the odd man out… guess not.

  243. tHe ShiT says:

    @ Grey:
    Thoughts on Bills? I’m not counting on him carrying my team, but wna unload him b4 its 2 late.

  244. Boyle says:

    Yes…but wanted to see if others felt the same way.

  245. ThePoonTycoon says:

    my main league’s most reactionary (and usually irrationally so) owner had Z and dumped him for an injured cliff lee last week (along with other pieces going both ways). looks like he made the right call being reactionary for once.

  246. Moonlight's Grahams says:

    @Elijah: Thanks, that’s what I was thinking, just needed to hear it from someone else to make sure my former dodger-bias isn’t completely taking me over.

  247. Rick Dempsey says:

    @Grey: Who do you think is a better OF pickup? Andruw Jones or Jose Guillen?

  248. Rick Dempsey says:

    @Grey: Actually, these are all the available OF’s…..who would you choose?

  250. @wakeNbake: Thanks for the terrible news. I was hoping Z would bounce back after hanging tough last night. I don’t know what Lou’s thinking. I really wouldn’t want the combustible Z coming in late in a high leverage situation.

    @Grey: I know it’s reading tea leaves but is Z worth holding on to? I have Aaron Hill coming back and will need to cut a guy. I was planning on letting Desmond go, but now this. If he does excel in a relief role, he still may have value, since he’ll be SP eligible. I’m leaning towards cutting Desmond anyway, since I’m deep in MI.

  251. @Grey: Word. It may be the best thing to happen to my staff. Maybe now I’ll win WHIP for once.

  252. Steve says:

    @Grey: Pods caught stealing today. Does nothing to stem the flow of juvenile thoughts running through my head about what we was doing on his visit home.

  253. JDub says:

    Someone in my league just dropped Doumit. I have Montero on my DL and Miguel Olivo in my catcher spot right now – do I claim Doumit off waivers?

  254. @Steve:

    Whatever floats your boat.

  255. CoreyII says:

    I’m getting sick of Iannetta missing so many games. Olivo is a FA right now – how crazy would I be to roster them both and play whoever starts each night? Too big a waste of a roster slot? Rather just have 1 or the other? Or Snyder?

  256. crews says:

    HOLY $%^#! He married Lisa Dergan? No wonder everybody’s talking about her. Miss July 1998. Hell, I’d go on the 150-day DL just to spend more time with her.
    Before everybody shoots Sweet Lou, I have a feeling this move will be very temporary…but considering I have Marmol on a team, I’d love having Z as a set-up guy, so I kinda hope it’s not.
    Heck, right now I’d make Lester a closer until June…he’s been pretty tough in the first inning this year (just kidding guys…don’t lose your minds).

  257. Grey

    Grey says:

    @JDub: Sure

    @Elijah: I don’t think it’s his boat it’s floating.

  258. crews says:

    Half-an-hour until Wellemeyer vs. Garland. Jesus wept.

  259. Steve says:

    @Grey: @Elijah: Hands where we can see them!

  260. @Grey:

    It’s not he’s boat, it was we’s boat?

  261. Griffey24 says:

    Hey Grey I really need a guy who can get me some steals and runs Would you pick up Drew Stubbs, Austin Jackson or Cameron Maybin?

  262. Grey

    Grey says:

    @sean: He’s mocking you.

  263. Steve says:

    @Grey: And he’s born in Defiance.

    You couldn’t make it up.

  264. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Steve: And for her Rudy would de-fiancee.

  265. crews says:

    @sean: No, a smugshot would have to be taken right after a pitcher has gotten his balls beaten off…like say Marquis high-fiving the manager after getting taken out of the game this past Sunday. Or Doug Davis doing the same AFTER NOT BEING ABLE TO GO FIVE INNINGS AFTER BEING STAKED A 10-0 LEAD IN THE SAME GAME. Hoover Awards to both of them.
    As far as Billingsley goes, he may still be having some lingering physical issues, but I’ve heard more than once he has a fragile psyche…or what they called when I was a kid being a spoiled brat (it was a less sensitive time). When things aren’t going his way he tends to lose it.

  266. Steve says:

    @Grey: Boom-tish!

    Funny you should say that – Rudy’s crack about Pods in the round-up the other day had all the hallmarks of the last obscene ravings of a soon-to-be-married man.

  267. @Grey: I’m ahead in ERA and WHIP for the week now, but will probably lose W/K/QS unless I get another start or two, since this week my opponent has 3 more starts. Think I should stand pat (offense is tied at 3 a piece, but I have better hitting) or try to compete in the counting stats? I have quality, he has quantity.

    Three matchups I like later this week:

    Fister @ ChiSox (Danks)
    Richards @ Reds (Arroyo)
    Bush (home) vs. Cubs (Lilly on Sunday?)

    I’m thinking I drop Z and go with Fister on Saturday, than Bush on Sunday. What would you do?

  268. Rick Dempsey says:

    @Elijah: I need power bad! HR’s RBI’s and R’s

  269. William says:

    @Grey – value of Carlos Zambrano now? Good super low buy?

  270. @William: Want him? I’d take a bag of rusty nails and you can throw in a kick in the nuts, simply because I drafted him in the first place.

  271. sean says:

    @crews: Certainly a side effect of these guys being coddled going back to little league. I can’t believe that Defiance, OH has any bigger figures.

  272. eltoo says:

    @Grey: Any worries about starting Ubaldo tomorrow? I always worry about the next start after a pitcher gets left in to go for the no-no. He threw 128 pitches on saturday, which isn’t a huge bump up for him, but 342 pitches through the 1st 3 starts of the season is nothing to sneeze at. I can’t imagine not starting him, but wanted a second opinion since I believe you are higher on the Nats offense than most.

  273. tHe ShiT says:

    Someone dropped Kelly Johnson. Should i drop Ian Desmond for him? I need a 2B…

  274. tHe ShiT says:

    Last post @Grey/all

  275. crews says:

    @tHe ShiT: Go for Johnson IMO.

  276. GTS says:

    @tHe ShiT: I would for sure.

  277. Steve says:

    MMD having a rest today. Tired of carrying all those Razzballers through the first two weeks of the season.

  278. Grey

    Grey says:

    @GTS: @Steve: Thanks for the heads ups!

  279. mrbaseball says:

    Ian Stewart not in lineup tonight

  280. @GTS:

    Possible, but hitting .200 and getting hurt isn’t a barnburner of a negotiation play.

  281. crews says:

    Since the matter with Z has brought up the subject of the Cubs bullpen, can someone tell me why John Grabow still has a job? I watched the second game of the season and after Prado almost knocked down the center field fence with a double off this guy, he gets a couple of quick strikes on Chipper; almost as soon as I can think, “Gee, Larry looks kinda sad and weak so far” (and being a Mets fan, there’s a sick satisfaction in this thought), he throws a belt-high fastball that’s just far enough off the plate that Chipper can really extend his arms and deposit the ball in the center field seats, turning a Cubs win into a loss.
    It looks like Grabow did a similar number last, only to Methuselah Tatis (wasn’t this guy a “young phenom” in, like, 1986? He played for the Expos), putting a close game pretty much out of reach.
    No need to answer my rant.

  282. GTS says:

    Does Headley have good speed? How many SB should we expect this season?

  283. @crews: That ‘pen is a god awful mess. I’m sure Grabow will have many more chances with runners on, since I can see Z coming in and walking the world.

  284. mrbaseball says:

    Prince Fielder revealed Wednesday that he’s been playing with a sore hand from constantly feeding himself

  285. GTS says:

    @mrbaseball: Speaking off… he almost hit one out. Barely foul.

  286. Grey

    Grey says:

    @GTS: I projected him for 10 steals on the year. Maybe he gets to 12.

    @mrbaseball: Ha!

  287. royce! says:

    @GTS: I don’t know how fast he is, but he stole 10 last year, the Padres are apparently emphasizing steals this year, and he has 5 so far, so I don’t see why he can’t reach 20.

  288. Jo says:

    @Grey: Is Morrow suddenly ownable after going 7 strong with 1 earned and 8 k’s? I’ve always liked the guy

  289. royce! says:

    @royce!: My living in San Diego might have influenced the projection a bit. I’m gonna pull a Price is Right dick move and say 13.

  290. Yo Soy No Bueno says:

    @mrbaseball: This got a good chuckle from me. I really needed it, he is depressing to to own right now.

  291. royce! says:

    Speaking of San Diego, the battle for sole possession of first in the NL West is taking place as I type… Wellemeyer v. Garland! Battle of the aces!

  292. royce! says:

  293. royce! says:

    @royce!: edit: “LOVE” not “LIKE”

  294. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Jo: Sure, in the right circumstances.

    @royce!: I’ll take either.

  295. BeanyBill says:

    Grey (sorry, posted this on the Marlins post), who’d you rather have? Dexter Fowler or Julio Borbon (it’s a points league, so steals are not a priority). Other options are Snider and Ankiel.

  296. crews says:

    About Headley, if SD has any games against Wakefield I’ll say he has about 25 steals. Did somebody slip Wake a rufie last night?

  297. Go go CarGo.

  298. William says:

    @3FingersBrown – No way does Zambrano stay in the bullpen when Carlos Silva is in the rotation.

  299. crews says:

    Geez, Texas is winning 4-0? Boston’s got ’em right where they want ’em.

    Isn’t there a rule where if the Rangers are up 10 after five innings they have to bring in Frank Francisco?

  300. Amazing play by Victorino.

  301. @William: Thats what I’m thinking. Gorzelanny is full of suck too. He could pitch for my all-ugly team any day. Ever see him and Sloth from Goonies together? Didn’t think so.

  302. crews says:

    @William @3FingersBrown: Hate to break it to you guys but if the criterion is that Silva’s got to suck to get yanked from the rotation you’re going to have to wait a few days…the Mets will make Silva look like Greg Maddux.

  303. mauledbypandas says:

    Rangers updates!

    Davis had a nice double high off the monster.
    Borbon tripled to left center.
    Kinsler sent to extended spring training. Supposed to get about 10 AB a day, possible return in a week.
    Hamilton still not hitting, but he isn’t swinging either.. so at least his OBP is ok.

  304. Grey

    Grey says:

    @mauledbypandas: I’m watching it (between other games), Hamilton had a solid single.

  305. crews says:

    Nine up, nine down so far for Halladay…wonder if they can get him to take a pay cut next year?
    And weren’t the Giants brainy for locking up Lincecum for a whole two years? Wonder how he’ll look in pinstripes?

  306. mauledbypandas says:

    @Grey: true about the Hamilton single. Forgot about that. He has been hitting the ball hard lately, so maybe he is breaking out of this slump.

  307. crews says:

    Like I said…right where they wanted ’em. JD celebrates my dumping him for Bruce with a Salami.

  308. Halladay still looks a bit shocked the NL could be this easy.

  309. @crews: Silva OR Sloth. I’m not keeping Zambrano long enough to find out. Let him be someone else’s headache.

  310. crews says:

    I can’t wait to see the Mets Instructional Video: “How to Let a Runner Tag and Go to Second on a Sacrifice Fly…to Center Field.”
    Never less than scintillating baseball, my Amazin’s…

  311. Steve says:

    @Grey: Darnell McDonald just poked his tongue out at you.

  312. preptime says:

    It seems like whenever Wright gets on base he has the green light. 7 stolen bases already.

  313. preptime says:

  314. crews says:

    And speaking of teams that never let their opponents get too far out of a game, Josh Hammered of the Rockies just gave up a four-spot to the Natinals.

  315. @crews: Seriously. Then Gio Soto can give a clinic on sliding. See that? Hideous baseball all around.

  316. preptime says:

    Also, that last stretch for Howard looked painful.

  317. crews says:

    Darnell McDonald = Garrett Jones II
    You heard it here first…

  318. crews says:

    @3FingersBrown: Oh, the Soto sliding video would be a to-50 on Amazon. It is a larf.
    Well, at least on “Whacked Out Sports”…

  319. crews says:

    Gallardo: 86 pitches, 9K’s though four (along with the obligatory 3 BB’s) – at 1 point per K, KA-CHING! he goes in my points league.
    Of course, a quality start would have been 10 points, but that’s dark clouding my silver lining…

  320. royce! says:

    @crews: Guess that ruins my chances for buying low on him… “Seriously, dude, I’m doing you a favor by giving you Fister for Gallardo”

  321. royce! says:

    I’m right to bench Jackson v. STL tonight, right? (No need to comment on how wrong I am to own him in the first place).

  322. crews says:

    @royce!: I was afraid we were going to go the whole night without mentioning Doug Fister. Awesome! Added in two more of my leagues today.
    That is so me circa 2001.
    But I have to ‘fess up…I ADD’ed (while we’re making up verbs) yesterday: Wolf for Pelfrey.

  323. CarGo going nutty.

  324. crews says:

    Gallardo update: 5 IP, 103 pitches, 10 K’s, 3 HA, 3 BB up 5-0 (now 7-0 – the hitters are taking out on Zach Duke the fact that he added a HA to Yovani’s line)…what do they feed these Brewers pitchers that they can barely make it through five innings with huge leads?
    “I spit in your general direction!”

  325. crews says:

    Oddly, Francisco Liriano looks like the second coming of Francisco Liriano.

  326. TheBravesWearPrado says:

    CarGo you Sonavabench!

  327. Tony says:

    @TheBravesWearPrado: wow just got on to say the same thing, had him benched because i was coaching my HS baseball team, oh well…. 4 singles? singles smingles…. had him IN another league so its all good.

  328. Corey II says:

    Is time to cut Iannetta for Olivo? Would I be crazy to own both of them so I can stop having 1/2 a catcher?

  329. TheBravesWearPrado says:

    @Tony: To punish myself I’m considering starting Sheets versus the Yankees.

  330. crews says:

    @royce!: You’re the third person this week to tell me somewhat sheepishly that they own Edwin Jackson. I can’t say I get that. I’d have him on any of my teams, especially if Webb ever gets back. I wouldn’t want to go into a series have to see Haren, then Webb (when healthy), then Jackson.
    He doesn’t give me a warm and fuzzy every time I put in my lineup like, say, Lincecum, but I also have Lester and Jurrjens on that team and right now I’d take Jackson over either. He’s rounded into a really nice pitcher.

  331. Tom Emanski says:

    @Elijah: I miss him :(

    Alcides seems to have the rare red light to steal.

  332. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Corey II: You’re just going from one part-timer to the other. Grab a catcher that’s a starter and leave him in there.

  333. crews says:

    Early nominee for SAGNOF player of the year (hitters’ division): Michael Bourn. Just for scoring runs in the first inning two nights in a row without the Astros getting a hit either time.
    And some people think that baseball makes their heads hurt.

  334. preptime says:

    5 walks in 2 games for Andrus. What is this craziness?

  335. mauledbypandas says:

    welcome back Josh Hamilton’s power, I missed you

  336. crews says:

    @Tom Emanski: Great name…have all of your vids…can throw a baseball into a garbage can on it’s side from anywhere on my block.
    Alcides better learn to steal home if all he’s gonna do is hit triples (two tonight).

  337. mrbaseball says:

    Zimm pulled up lame going into 2B – looks like he will miss a few games

  338. mrbaseball says:

    looks like this Bud Norris was not for me

  339. crews says:

    Halladay update: 8 IP, 5 HA 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K.

    But Ubaldo threw a no-no…what’s Halladay’s prob?

  340. BKK says:

    Why does Josh Beckett hate me?

  341. Tom Emanski says:

    Just another day at Doc Halladay’s clinic

  342. Martin says:

    @grey- damn escobar is heating up. He seems to be doing well in all categories besides steals (he has zero!). If he can just steal a few bases his value will skyrocket right? Do you like him a lot?

  343. Tom Emanski says:

    @crews: Many people don’t know, but I had to quit the game after getting socked in the face so many times by balls hit right back at me while doing those soft tosses by the fence.

  344. Martin says:

    @grey- what do you also think about jose lopez? Baseball Forcaster said great things about him, but he kills me in OPS.

  345. Steve says:

    Swish and Tejada both out of their respective lineups today.

    Irrelevant to most people, but annoying to me.

  346. crews says:

    @Martin: What’s your issue? Alcides is only three steals behind JOSH WILLINGHAM.

  347. crews says:

    @Tom Emanski: ROTFLMFAO

  348. royce! says:

    @crews: Jackson seemed to get real lucky last year until about the ASB, when he started sucking (5+ ERA). I went to his SD start this year and he was really wild, wilder than his 4 BB indicate. I think he threw 3 consecutive pitches about 2 feet in front of home. As I was typing his ERA for the day passed 40.

    Hey, Colby Rasmus can hit!

  349. crews says:

    TB up 9-0 tonight after sweeping Sawx over the weekend…cannot emphasize how much I’M LOVING OWNING DANKS RIGHT NOW.

  350. crews says:

    @royce!: Happens every time I give a guy some love.

  351. mauledbypandas says:

    I’m wondering if Borbon is becoming a bottom feeder.. struggles at the top of the order but produces when knocked down. 2/4 tonight, with a terrible error called on an infield hit.. should be 3/4

  352. Tom Emanski says:

    So who dropped Sean-Rod a week ago and is now considering picking him back up? I am. I can’t help myself.

  353. penpen says:

    @mrbaseball: And it’s his other leg too (aka not the one he injured last week). Don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.

  354. eltoo says:

    @Tony: I’m coming for you

  355. Tom Emanski says:

    And Matt avoids getting Cappsized!

  356. Yo Soy No Bueno says:

    Is it just me or does it look like Neftali doesn’t feel like giving up his spot in the ninth?

  357. struggler says:

    @Tom: I dropped sean-rod today for asdrubal. He’s spiting me!

  358. mauledbypandas says:

    @Yo Soy No Bueno: with Fail-Fail going like he is now, Feliz should be relatively safe for a while.

  359. mauledbypandas says:

    Neftali just hit 102 on the radar gun, sad that he is going to get a no decision/no save for this most likely

  360. Martin says:

    Matt Crapps wins the award for most heart attacks given to owners while pitching. He always gets the save with at least 2 men on base

  361. BigFatHippo says:

    @Grey: Thank someone I listened to you on Headley.

    Dude combined with Bourn, Abreau and Cruuuuuuuuz last night produced 9 steals for my team……………SAGfrickinNOF, my ass!!!!!

    Oh, btw…………..

    How bout that Liriano!?

  362. drew says:

    nyjer, johnathan sanchez and david price for andrew macCutchen, derek lowe, and gavin floyd. which side?

  363. Eddy says:

    @Mark Geoffriau:
    Imagine hearing that song and watching the video every single Marlins home game on the gigantic Jumbo screen.

    Yea, that’s all me. Every. Single. Game.

  364. BigFatHippo says:

    @Mark Geoffriau: @Eddy:

    Creed lives as Springsteen rolls over in his grave. Wait, Bruce ain’t dead is he?…………………….

  365. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Martin: I think he’s a boring 20 homer 2nd baseman. If you need that sorta thing, there ya go.

    @BigFatHippo: Liriano!

    @drew: Nyjer side.

    @BigFatHippo: Ha!

  366. tHe ShiT says:

    Thoughts on Alex Gordon? I might need 2 find a replacement for Zimmerman and his bad hammies… Not much else out there on the wire.

  367. mrbaseball says:

    Sean Rodriguez as a keeper what do you see grey

  368. GopherDay says:

    I love Robinson Cano…I’m just saying that.

  369. Martin says:

    @grey- ya i already have stewart so i dont really NEED lopez. Who could i get for him u think? I dont have a specific need.

  370. mrbaseball says:

    Sean Rodriguez – what I want to know is how many homeruns and rbi’s do you see from him next year and so on

  371. tHe ShiT says:

    @ Grey/all:
    Is Prince, Nelson Cruz 2 much 4 Hanley?
    How about Billy Butler, Kubel, Bills 4 Hanley?

  372. mauledbypandas says:

    @tHe ShiT: 1. too much, prince will turn it around 2. probably wont happen. Butler gets no respect

  373. GopherDay says:

    @tHe ShiT: Too much and too little. Respectively.

  374. BigFatHippo says:

    @ Everyone

    Callaspo or Hardy for MI in a 10 team league that counts K’s?

  375. tHe ShiT says:

    @ mauled and gopher:
    Yeah i figured, i hv prince, cruz. I would like 2 hv Hanley but dont wna part with Cruz as he is my best OF…

  376. GopherDay says:

    @tHe ShiT: It isn’t Cruz that makes it too much, its Prince. Cruz will slow down eventually, but Prince will pick it up, and when he does…

  377. tHe ShiT says:

    @ All:
    Or should sell high on Cruz?

  378. Grey

    Grey says:

    @mrbaseball: Can hit 25 homers and some steals next year or he could be a backup, lots of mitigating factors.

    @BigFatHippo: Unsexy choice of Callaspo.

  379. GopherDay says:

    Hughes, no hitter through 5!! I hope he gives up one hit in the 7th, then gets taken out and gets the win!!

  380. john says:

    @Grey: Bit of a debate going down in the forum…how big of a difference is there between AGon and Votto in power? And which side Votto/Bourn for AGon?

  381. sal says:

    @Grey: @everyone: in H2H points should I go with Soto or ride pudge while he is actually producing? Soto’s Ks are the only thing still leaving me iffy about plugging him in. I already ADD’d his ass and jumped on the clement experiment. Yea his ass got ADD’d too. I wish there was a way I could lock my catcher spot after the next time I pick someone so I cant do this again.

  382. mrbaseball says:

    Miguel Tejada (strained hip adductor) left the April 17 game and did not play April 18-20. He is day-to-day. looks like day to week to me

  383. BigFatHippo says:

    @tHe ShiT: Agreed……too much on the first one.

    Don’t offer 3 middle of the packers for one stud on the 2nd one. It’s laughable.

  384. tHe ShiT says:

    Heres my team: Prince, Zobrist, Ian Desmond, Zimmerman, Cruz, Kubel, Rajai…Garza, Gallardo, Liriano, Brett Anderson, Bills, Jaime Garcia, Wagner, Soria…

    Wut would b a gd offer 4 Hanley? Kelly Johnson is on the wire, im hoping he falls 2 me for Desmond…

  385. Grey

    Grey says:

    @GopherDay: Ha!

    @john: 15 homer difference. Votto side if you need speed.

  386. William says:

    @Everyone – Anyone else still think Rich Harden is valuable? I read a Yahoo! article today that was optimistic because of his K-rate.

  387. GopherDay says:

    @mrbaseball: Eh, I have him in a dynasty league…I was hoping he would heat up so I can trade him for a prospect or two. Oh well, I have glass chipper subbing in for me at 3B…

  388. mrbaseball says:

    @Grey: Can hit 25 homers and some steals next year or he could be a backup, lots of mitigating factors.

    one more mitigating factors game you will be picking him up

  389. GopherDay says:

    @William: You read a Yahoo article…enough reason to ignore it. Ha!

  390. mrbaseball says:

    @GopherDay – Eh, I have him in a dynasty league…I was hoping he would heat up so I can trade him for a prospect or two. Oh well, I have glass chipper subbing in for me at 3B…

    isn’t he a prospect ? what type of prospect are you looking for ?

  391. mrbaseball says:

    @William – RICH HARDEN – one of the most valuable DL player in the game

  392. GopherDay says:

    @mrbaseball: Miguel Tejada…The ancient 3B for the Orioles? No, I do not believe he is a prospect. And I would be looking for absolutely anything for him.

    Long story short, I took over a dynasty league team with a very old lineup. With A-Rod, Ichiro, and Manny all soon-to-be-retired. But yeah, 3B is thin and maybe I would get a draft choice for him, I’m not sure.

  393. William says:

    @Everyone – I’m hanging in there with Bay and Quentin. I can’t believe Quentin hasn’t gotten a hit in almost a week…

    Anyone else suffering from Quentin’s awesome interpretation of a complete pile of crap?

  394. In case anyone not noticing, Phil Hughes tossing a no hitter.

  395. tHe ShiT says:

    @ Grey/all
    Is Cruz/ Bills enough for Hanley?

  396. @William: I have a case of the Quentins. Need him to start hitting, or start getting hit. Either way.

    I don’t see much of the ChiSox. Is there something wrong with him physically or is just in a funk like the rest of the lineup?

  397. john says:

    @William: Considering he is leading my team in Runs and RBIs, I can’t complain.

  398. preptime says:

    @tHe ShiT:

    Probably should wait until Billingsley throw a halfway decent game before throwing that offer out there. That might as well be Cruz for Hanley straight up with Bills latest track record.

  399. TheBravesWearPrado says:

    While everyone is talking about Phil Hughes right now I can’t stop thinking about Sheets. I didn’t start him hoping for the Yanks to kill him and give me a reason to drop him. He’s gotten better every start so now I don’t know what to do.

  400. Dumbmutt says:

    Sean Rodriguez should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell.

  401. Kazmere says:

    12 team mixed roto. Really low in runs and SB. Thinking of offering up an outfielder or SP for McCutchen. I have Quentin, Markakis, Slowey, Oswalt… Stand pat and be patient, or set my sights elsewhere? Aiming for McCutchen because his owner has twice as many SB as anyone else at this point.

  402. Tom Reale says:

    @William: I like him pitching vs Cle…..away only.

  403. crews says:

    Jed Weaver up 3-2 and likely done…already got boned by Greinke’s and Josh Johnson’s bullpens…might as well go for the trifecta.
    Got the StL-D-Backs game on in the background…JUpton just finished the Golden Sombrero, Eddie Jack picked it up and made it through eight after giving up 3 in the first and just got taken off the hook for the L.

  404. Cocksucking Trevor Miller! Coughed up Carp’s lead with a wild pitch?! Can’t catch a break today. I keep thinking of that line in “The Color Of Money,”

    “It’s like a nightmare, isn’t it? It just keeps getting worse and worse.”

  405. crews says:

    Eric Cnavez just broke up the no-no.

  406. Dumbmutt says:

    That really sucks for Hughes

  407. brad says:

    Hughes no-hitter ruined by Eric Chavez. Makes you wonder why every pitcher doesn’t throw a no-hitter against the A’s.

  408. crews says:

    @brad: Because the A’s have Eric Chavez.
    Qualls is really off…the facade in left. 5-4 Cards. 2 HR for Rasmus.

  409. mrbaseball says:

    Hughes no-hitter ruined by Eric Chavez. – now he doesn’t have to worry about throwing back to back no hitters

  410. crews says:

    Angels march Jed out there for the seventh after 105 pitches? Oh, the humanity!
    Where Joe Mather when you need him?

  411. brad says:

    @crews: Qualls drops a deuce.

  412. preptime says:

    I was about to be pissed that I benched Soriano today for Rasmus. I guess it worked out though.

  413. Tom Reale says:

    @brad: Yeah it was probably only due to Rajai Davis getting the night off. Otherwise, Hughes would’ve got shelled!(can’t even typed that with a straight face).

  414. crews says:

    D-Backs win sad bully of the night. Now 9-4 with one out in the ninth.

  415. brad says:

    F-Her just 9-hit the orioles

  416. penpen says:

    @3FingersBrown: Quentin’s BABIP is a cellar-dwelling .179; his LD rate is not terrible at 12%. I’m waiting for the correction. If he wasn’t so damn unlucky, his avg would be up closer to his .270-ish range and no one’d be fussing.

  417. brad says:

    The D-Backs must be wishing they had Brandon Lyon back.

  418. Grey

    Grey says:

    **Should grab Gutierrez again.

  419. crews says:

    @brad: Something tells me Schilling and the Big Unit not walking through the door anytime soon either.

  420. crews says:

    It looks like we’re gonna see how healthy Fuentes is. 3-2 Angels going to the bottom of the eighth.

  421. penpen says:

    @3FingersBrown: Also even with tonight’s 3 K game, his BB:K rate is 8:10.

  422. GopherDay says:

    Would you drop Franklin Morales for Gutierrez? Morales has been killing me!

  423. GopherDay says:

    Flippin crap shoot….I want to kill Joba right now!!!!

  424. Tom Reale says:

    Similar question…F-Frank for Gutierrez?

  425. crews says:

    @mrbaseball: Unreal play. Love that the catcher tried to sell that he tagged the guy.

  426. Adam says:

    Uggla for Hamels a fair offer? The other owner just posted he’s looking for a 2B and power, and I have Asdrubal on my bench…

  427. crews says:

    Frank Frank would have to have something on Washington (OK not that hard), the GM and the owner to get the closer role back.
    And a runner might do a flying cartwheel over the catcher to score a run…oh, wait THAT happened. See mrbaseball’s post.

  428. Howard says:

    Knew I shouldn’t of pitched Buehrle against the Rays. All this talk about reliving his NHer. Guess he gave it back to em tonight!

  429. @penpen: Thanks for talking me down. It’s been a rough day. Just wondering if his foot (or wrist) might be bothering him again. I guess it’s just a matter of his hits falling in. The power will come.

  430. penpen says:

  431. crews says:

    Fuentes just gave up one of the longest HR I’ve seen to Miggy.
    Did I mention I love bullpens?

  432. Tom Reale says:

    Fuentes to the Disgraceful list!

  433. Howard says:

    Miggy just took Fuentes downtown!

  434. Howard says:

    Rodney was much better last night!

  435. Tom Reale says:

    Someone was talking about Capps always getting saves with guys on base. Fuentes did that all year long last year. Get your Rodney trigger finger loosened up.

  436. @penpen: Soooo much fail for my H2H team today. Just miserable. I was really hoping for a Fuentes save, so I could flip him.

  437. Tom Reale says:

    @crews: So, Gutierrez for F-Frank?

  438. penpen says:

    @penpen: sorry Fuentes owners, that was cruel; h2h opponent has Weaver though, and I have Miggy. So yeah, pretty glorious

  439. At this point I can’t wait for Lidge to get back and Fuentes to disappear into obscurity so I can rid my team of both. Funny. Z and Fuentes were the 2 picks that I didn’t like, even though I got them pretty late. Now I know why.

  440. crews says:

    @Tom Reale: I think Gutierrez is closer to saves than Frankie is. Every time I’ve seen Qualls this year, he’s really struggled…I don’t think he’s going to be back from that knee injury for a while.
    4-3 Tigers…bye Fuentes.

  441. crews says:

    Oh well, I’ve got Valverde in my roto league also…maybe he can come in a blow a save as well.

  442. Tom Reale says:

    @crews: Agreed. I don’t see how Neftali doesn’t run with the job. I just saw that someone dropped Rodney 30 minutes ago…so I am going with him.

  443. No wonder Scoscia hates Napoli, hes a Nancy Boy blocking the plate.

  444. crews says:

    Geez, even Mariano’s struggling tonight…

  445. crews says:

    @Tom Reale: Good call. Too bad for that other owner.

  446. Commish Cauda (formerly Mike) says:

    Zambrano to the pen? How do you like offering up Colby Lewis to a shocked Zambano owner (in a deep H2H-POINTS League that does count holds). to try to take advantage? Big Z can’t stay there for long, right?

  447. @Commish Cauda (formerly Mike): I’d take Lewis for Z right now. I don’t play with holds though.

    Now all I need is for the Halos to come back so my opponent, who has Rodney, can get a win… and the wife is wondering why I’m so despondent tonight. Luckily she can’t feel my pain.

  448. Tom Reale says:

    @crews: Deep Breath. Valverde survives.

  449. Commish Cauda (formerly Mike) says:

    @Elijah: Crazy as it sounds, Carlos Zambrano was just moved to the bullpen to be a long relief/set-up guy…look it up

  450. crews says:

    @Tom Reale: Yeah…a save (Papa Grande), a blown save and a loss (FuFu) and a blown win (Jed) for me in the roto league.
    At least I had Gallardo as well.

  451. Commish Cauda (formerly Mike) says:

    @3FingersBrown: I own Colby Lewis…so I guess the answer is not to trade him to buy low on Zambrano?

    What say you Grey?

  452. Tom Reale says:

    @3FingersBrown: Sit back and throw on some “Sweet” Neil…that always cheers me up.

  453. @Tom Reale: You’re really looking to read about a deranged FBB owner who went on a mass murder spree, aren’t you?

    @Grey: Shhhhhh… someone in my league might be reading… Yeah sure Cubs fans, Z’s coming back strong!

  454. Grey

    Grey says:

    @Adam: It’s fair.

  455. GopherDay says:

    @Grey: Would you drop Franklin Morales for Fernando Rodney?

  456. agarthered says:

    Bourbon or Gardner?

    Cain or Billingsley?

    I’d be picking up bourbon from waivers, and I’d be getting Cain via trade.

  457. Lava says:

    Sonofabench. Rasmus this time. Too many good outfielders to go around.

  458. Tom Reale says:

    Hughes to move to top floor Penthouse, starting growing his nails disgustingly long, drink lots of milk and pee in the empty carton, while sorting his peas with his “special” fork?

  459. DrEasy says:

    Is Kelly Johnson an improvement over Jose Lopez, and is he worth giving up Juan Pierre for?

  460. AZhardball says:

    Who do you like the rest of the way out in a 10 Offensive CAT league at SS Alcides or Aybar?
