Gather ’round all for the weekly Razzball fantasy baseball injury round up!
While I certainly did not mean to foreshadow the COVID-19 outbreak of this week in last week’s edition of Ambulance Chasers, I did. Oblique injuries are so “out”, and COVID-19 is very “in”. In fact, it is “in” a few MLB players.
Do you ever want to just scream? I sure do.
Let’s check out the damage!
American League Injuries
AL Central
Chicago White Sox
Luis Robert (OF): Let’s kick it off with a pretty big but hopefully not serious issue– Luis Robert suffered a groin injury that appears minor. He did not appear on the White Sox roster yesterday evening. Gavin Sheets, AJ Pollock, Adam Engel, Andrew Vaughn, and a few other White Sox will see more playing time in Robert’s absence.
Luis Robert’s early exit with a groin strain capped a series the White Sox would rather forget.
While Tony La Russa called the injury “minor," he also acknowledged a stint on the injured list for Robert is “a possibility, yeah.”@lamondpope's story.https://t.co/UuZhT84kFI

Toronto Blue Jays
Hyun-Jin Ryu (SP): Ryu, who is on one of my fantasy teams, has been tough to watch this season while experiencing diminished velocity. While I hate that he is injured, I hope even more that his issues are solvable. Ryu is currently dealing with forearm inflammation and has been moved to the 10-day IL. He began light throwing recently. Ross Stripling will serve in Ryu’s place.
#BlueJays injury updates:

As fans continue to ditch attending games, several A’s found themselves on the COVID-IL. Infielders Nick Allen and Christian Lopes and reliever Sam Selman were added to the A’s roster.

Kevin Smith (INF): Smith experienced a bone bruise and has been moved to the 10-day IL. Sheldon Neuse played in Smith’s place.
Kevin Smith's injury is a bone bruise that occurred after jamming his lower leg bone into his ankle bone on that slide Monday night. He'll be in a walking boot and the A's will wait for the area to decompress before getting him back into baseball activity.
— Martín Gallegos (@MartinJGallegos) April 20, 2022
Stephen Vogt (C/1B): Vogt is out with a sprained knee. Other baseball players who have this type of injury are out roughly 2-4 weeks. However, there is no timetable for Vogt’s return right now.

Well, you likely saw Byron Buxton appear to be seriously injured, but, as it happens, Byron Buxton is not seriously injured. He should be back in the line-up today.
