Greetings, Razzobites! It is I, a messenger from the realm of Pain and Suffering.
Last Friday, was an absolute bloodbath for IL entries. 12 players were added to the IL on April 29. Additionally, 13 players were added to the COVID-IL this week. The COVID numbers continue to rise with outbreaks in Cincinnati, Minnesota, and Boston over the last week.
Let’s jump into some injury highlights!
American League Injuries
AL Central
Chicago White Sox
Andrew Vaughn (OF/1B): In the last edition of “Ambulance Chasers“, I asked “Are the Chicago White Sox a sustainable venture?” as Eloy Jiminez joined the IL and Andrew Vaughn took over in LF. Vaughn acquired a hand contusion and is now on the 10-day. Danny Mendick was recalled to replace Vaughn in the interim.
The #WhiteSox have placed outfielder Andrew Vaughn on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to May 2) with a bruised right hand and recalled infielder Danny Mendick from Class AAA Charlotte.

Jake Brentz (RP): Brentz is on the 10-day IL with a strained flexor tendon. RHP Matt Peacock will replace Brentz.
Cam Gallagher (C): Gallagher is out with a strained hamstring. He will be replaced by M.J. Melendez.

Carlos Correa (SS): Correa has had issues with his middle finger on his throwing hand. Although it was originally reported as a fractured finger, the finger is only bruised and sore. Royce Lewis was called to replace Correa while he heals.

Bailey Ober (SP): Ober is out with a strained groin. Cole Sanders will replace Ober during his stint on the IL.
Miguel Sano (1B): Sano is undergoing knee surgery after he tore his meniscus by jumping up and down while celebrating with teammates. There are mixed reports on when Sano will return that range between “later this season” and “not at all this season”. Jose Miranda will likely capitalize on Sano’s absence.
Miguel Sanó tried to play on Saturday. He originally sat out Weds-Fri with what was described as a sore knee. But he couldn’t get through Saturday’s game.
Now we know why. Torn meniscus. Surgery upcoming. #MNTwins

Sean Reid-Foley (RP): Reid-Foley has a partially torn elbow ligament and is on the 10-day IL. There is speculation that the injury may be season ending. Yoan Lopez will replace Reid-Foley for now.
Mets reliever Sean Reid-Foley just departed today's game due to apparent injury. His roster spot was going to be at some level of risk on Monday, when MLB rosters reduce from 28 to 26. Depending on what happened to him tonight, that could change the equation.
