It’s Sunday morning and somebody must make some tough decisions at the pitcher position today. I’m not overly thrilled with the pitching matchups today and struggled to piece together my favorites. DFSBot is showing some love to sir Brandon McCarthy who has been pitching extremely well over the past few weeks. He gets a difficult matchup against the Rockies though this game is being played in LA. The Rockies home/road split confirms that the Rockies bats are not intimidating when they are away from Coors. McCarthy is nothing but a safe play to score 20+ points. He won’t get you many K’s but he’ll limit the hits and walks and should walk away with the win. McCarthy makes for the best starter in double ups today due to his consistency at home. His price is also a modest $15,000.

Michael Pineda, SP: $22,800 – Big Mike is clearly the best pitcher on the board today. However, he is also the most expensive. There is always risk playing a pitcher who is starting in the Bronx given the number of homeruns hit there this season. That said, f you look at his home/away splits, you would be blown away. He is currently 6-1 at home with a 1.92 ERA. I will most likely run him in my double ups and gpp’s given his high K upside against a Texas offense that strikes out a lot.

Jordan Zimmermann, SP: $16,400 – It’s always easy to pick on the Padres when they are at home. Zimmermann has been shaky this season but his matchup today looks bright. Zimmerman looks to extend his quality starts to 5 in a row with this matchup.  His stuff has been good lately and I hope it continues into today as does every other Zimmerman streamer.

Sonny Gray, SP: $16,800 –  This is strictly a DFSBot recommendation though I have grown to like this pick over the course of studying todays matchups. Everyone will likely fade Gray due to his poor start last week and his inconsistency in last few starts. Gray faced 3 of the top 6 offenses in his last 3 starts, so its no surprise to see his numbers inflated. Today he gets to face one of the worst offenses in the league. I will be using Gray in most of my GPP lineups today.

Eric Thames, IF/OF: $8,000 – Thames has cooled off considerably since April but the guy hasn’t lost his power. He faces Teheran in the hitter friendly Sun Trust Park. Teheran has the 9th highest hr/9 this season which bodes well for Mr. Thames.

Hanley Ramirez, IF/OF: $7,500 – Hanley has been battling nagging injuries all season and I think that is to blame for his slow start this season. Hanley is getting older and injuries are a part of aging, unfortunately, but I think things are starting to turn around for him. Ramirez gets a cake matchup today against Bridwell and I will be plugging him in my lineups due to his discounted price.

Joey Gallo, IF/OF: $7,600 –  I know I talked very highly of Pineda in my writeup above, but he is prone to the long ball and seemingly a magnet for solo shots. If you’re not using Pineda in one of your lineups, I think Gallo makes a good low cost hitter with homerun potential.

Matt Adams, IF: $8,400 –  Boy do I like this matchup for Adams today. Adams continues to make St Louis regret trading him. Adams has 3 homers in his last 7 games and 10 for the month of June. He gets to face Zach Davies who struggles with lefties. At this price, I think Adams is a steal.

Ryon Healy, IF: $6,400 – I’m not going to lie, I almost forgot to recommend Healy. Healy should be in every lineup when he’s up against a lefty. He is quite the bargain at $6,400.

Jake Lamb, IF: $9,900 –  It’s tough for me to pay up for Lamb today but if you have leftover $, he’s not a bad option going up against Hellickson. I can’t believe his price is still at $9,900 given he hit his first homerun of June yesterday.

Edwin Encarnacion, IF: $9,600 – I think EE is a safe play to snag you a few points today. The guy is batting .348 on the month with 7 homeruns. These are the types of hot streaks you’re supposed to ride when playing DFS.

Corey Dickerson, OF: $9,300 – I like this matchup a lot! The problem with this matchup is deciding which Rays players you’re going to use today. Evan Longoria has 8 homeruns off Chris Tillman. You also can’t go wrong with Logan Morrison and Steven Sousa. I guess what I am trying to say is the Rays stack is where it’s at today.

Giancarlo Stanton, OF: $8,000 – June has not been great for Stanton, but it now appears he may be turning that corner. His recent struggles have brought his price down to $8,000 and I’m not complaining. Stanton has 2 homers in his last 7 ab’s and he gets a favorable matchup against a lefty.

Aaron Judge, OF: $11,100 – Not much to be said here other than if you have room for him on your roster, play him.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

So, you’re telling me there’s a chance. There is a chance that every game gets played without weather interruption today. As of this morning there were no signs of potential delays or PPDs but as always, remember to check prior to lineup lock.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The heavy favorites in today’s game coming in at -210 favorites is the Yankees. Vegas must love Pineda’s home split and has confidence the Yankees will win. The other favorite on the day is the Diamondbacks at -180. Vegas is projecting a lot of high scoring games today (this is the new trend with all the homeruns hit this season). I’ll list the games that have o/u of 10 or higher: Yankees vs Rangers, Nationals vs Reds, Angels vs Red Sox, Athletics vs White Sox, and Phillies vs. Diamondbacks. The lowest o/u is sitting at 8.5 Rockies vs. Dodgers.
