Alright, I admit, my title doesn’t quite have the same pomp as some of the other pitcher-named days, but that is not to discount Framber Valdez ($9,100) and what he could potentially do tonight. The biggest reason for this is his opponent. I mean, the title could have been “Happy Pitcher Who Is Facing The Rangers Day”, but that’s a mouthful. Just look at what Jose Urquidy (7 IP, 7Ks, 1 ER, 3 Hits) did to them the other day. Sure, Bieber will likely dominate, but I’d prefer to take a discount and roll with Framber. His near 9 K/9 and 2.4 BB/9 are more than enough to pay the bills. Framber has also been a tad unlucky as suggested by his 3.34 FIP vs. 4.08 ERA. Add in the Rangers second to last team OPS and we have a recipe for success, be it in GPPs or a pivot in cash games. Save some money with Framber and load up on juicy offense to win the day.

Shane Bieber, SP: $11,900 – So, Detroit is pretty bad too, not quite Rangers bad, but they have the added bonus of being top five in team strikeouts as of the moment. Bieber and his *ahem* FOURTEEN POINT TWO K/9 *ahem* won’t help matters much. Bieber could strikeout 20 tonight, but you’re also going to pay up for that. Your call based on how you want to construct your offense. I’m still leaning Framber.
Dakota Hudson, SP: $8,700 – Dakota was *this* close to being my lede as he gets to face off against the league’s worst overall offense, the Pirates. I still like him as a cheap play, but I’m a little hung up on his 4.42 FIP. Regression appears to be coming. Do I think the Pirates are the ones to hand it to him? No, not really and if you’re cramming in Coors, you’ll need the relief, so fire away.
Casey Mize, SP: $6,200 – Mize is a real money saver though, but obviously comes with a chance for 2 IP, 7 ER. I still think we’ll see some of that shine here eventually though and I think he’s worth a GPP bullet with a stacked lineup.
Yuli Gurriel, C/1B: $2,800 – I searched high and low for a cheap option here tonight, but it looks like it’s best to just pay up tonight. Yuli is serviceable, but nothing too exciting, like eating bran flakes.
Will Smith, C/1B: $3,400 – Honestly, even paying up doesn’t really inspire me tonight. I could be talked into Goldy, but for $300 less, I think I’ll take my chances with a Coors bat instead. Plus, a catcher in this spot sometimes is enough to make your lineup unique.
Enrique Hernandez, 2B: $3,300 – If the Dodgers clinched yesterday, do they rest everyone today? Or because there is no alcohol in the locker rooms, is everyone good to go today? I have no idea, but it’s something to keep an eye on. We may get some very cheap Coors exposure from the Dodgers lineup.
Jean Segura, 2B: $2,900 – The lack of quality cheap options is killing me, we’re going to need to find some min priced outfielders or something. Segura is a lot like Yuli, if Yuli is bran flakes, Segura is shredded wheat….unfrosted.
Colin Moran, 3B: $2,700 – Finally we have some decent cheaper options! If you don’t go with Arenado or Turner and you aren’t starting Dakota Hudson, Colin Moran is always good for some pop and a discount.
Alec Bohm, 3B: $2,700 – Bohm has been on fire, hitting .328 over the past two weeks and also has power at a discount.
Chris Taylor, SS: $3,300 – I really think some regulars sit and guys like Taylor get the start, if so, it’s hard to pass up at this price.
Jonathan Villar, SS: $2,700 – The best talent for the price at the SS position tonight, I like Toronto to knock Tanaka around a bit. I don’t know why, just feel like it’s time for a Tanaka implosion.
Kyle Tucker, OF: $3,300 – I’m having trouble digging up heap outfielders too, this all leads me to lean even more into Framber over Bieber just so you can build a lineup that’s half competent. Tucker is more than competent and has the platoon advantage on Jordan Lyles.
Randal Grichuk, OF: $2,800 – Our BvP special of the night, Grichuk has four homers off Tanaka in 19 plate appearances. I’ll take those odds.
Oscar Mercado, OF: $2,100 – See what I mean? We’re grasping at straws down here. Mercado has talent, we know that, but this year has just been awful. Maybe we can hope Mize implodes and Mercado can get in on the action. That’s the best I can do when digging in the bargain bin.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Somehow we are avoiding Sally, but there could be some rain in Philly, so check the radar before lock.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Bieber and the Indians are the big favorites tonight at -270, but Framber and the Astros are right there at -250. The 7.5 over/under for the CLE@DET game is the lowest of the night however. Meanwhile, the Coors game has the highest over/under at 11.5 runs, no surprise.
