It feels like it’s been ages, but we’ve actually got a pretty decent batch on offer this week! It’s not the best we’ve had by any means, but it’s more appealing than the last few weeks have produced. And just in time, too, as I know many head-to-head leagues will be using this week to determine their champion. Good luck out there! Let’s get to it.

What follows are our projections at time of writing as to who will be making two-starts this week, but weather, injuries, and secretive team management mean they are just that: projections. To stay as up-to-date as possible, consult Rudy Gamble’s invaluable Streamonator.

Chocolate Chip Cookies (Must Start)

They are kings of the cookie world for a reason. A warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie just makes you feel happy. Sort of like getting to set your rosters knowing you get two starts this week from these guys.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Paul Skenes, Pit CHC ATH
Carlos Rodon, NYY @MIN @BAL
Logan Gilbert, Sea @KC @HOU
Freddy Peralta, Mil LAA @STL
Kevin Gausman, Tor @TB @KC

Sugar Cookies (Should Start)

They’re fine. You could certainly do worse than having these guys in your lineup, but don’t expect it to be remarkable.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Spencer Strider, Atl @WSH @DET
Andrew Abbott, Cin @STL CHC
Ryan Pepiot, TB TOR BOS
Cade Horton, ChC @PIT @CIN
Cam Schlittler, NYY @MIN @BAL
Shohei Ohtani, LAD PHI SF
  • Strider is on this list pretty much every single week. He never actually makes two starts. It’s really annoying.
  • Abbott’s season-long numbers are phenomenal. But he’s had a couple rough outings recently, which is enough to bump him out of the very top tier.
  • Pepiot had his last start skipped due to fatigue. So he’s another one whose status on this list is far from certain.
  • Streamonator absolutely despises Horton this week, and I’m not sure why. Granted, he’s not likely to give you a quality start, but he hasn’t allowed more than 2 ER in a start since July 9th.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (Could Start)

These aren’t for everyone. These are the pitchers that may be a pleasant surprise, or they could ruin your week. Tread lightly.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Zac Gallen, Ari SF PHI
Casey Mize, Det CLE ATL
Jack Leiter, Tex @HOU MIA
Michael King, SD @NYM @CHW
Tyler Wells, Bal @CHW NYY
Jeffrey Springs, Ath @BOS @PIT
Ian Seymour, TB TOR BOS
Jose Berrios, Tor @TB @KC
Connelly Early, Bos ATH @TB
Joey Cantillo, Cle @DET @MIN
Jameson Taillon, ChC @PIT @CIN
Jason Alexander, Hou TEX SEA
  • Streamonator is higher on Gallen. I want to be higher on Gallen. He’d been on a solid run of late, but his last start admittedly slightly spooked me that Bad Gallen, who was here for so much of the season, was back again. I’ll be using him in a league I have him in, for what it’s worth.

Fortune Cookies (Do Not Start)

Yeah, they’re technically cookies. Hold on, what does that little slip of paper say? “Bad times are heading your way.” Oh. Okay, then.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Eury Perez, Mia @COL @TEX
Matthew Liberatore, StL CIN MIL
Zack Littell, Cin @STL CHC
Simeon Woods Richardson, Min NYY CLE
Sean Burke, ChW BAL SD
Kyle Freeland, Col MIA LAA
Mitchell Parker, Wsh ATL @NYM
Carson Seymour, SF @ARI @LAD
Jose Urena, LAA @MIL @COL
  • The computer has Perez up in the Sugar Cookie zone. I can’t do it.
  • It’s not clear if it’s Seymour or someone else for the Giants making two starts. It isn’t Logan Webb, so it doesn’t matter.

Cantillo or Alexander? Thank you in advance.
