Another close look at the middle infield depth charts of an entire division. This time, we tackle the star-loaded NL East.

Please, blog, may I have some more?Well, it’s been another rough week on the injury front — I don’t know about you, but I’m in a pretty frustrated place given that we still have a week left in August. The Austin Riley, Ketel Marte, and Zach Eflin IL trips, were, I’m afraid, the nails in the coffin for a couple of […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Jace Jung was called up yesterday. In Triple-A, he went 14 HRs, .257 with 2 steals. Every Tigers prospect of the last five years had the exact same line. No, not literally, but if you were to tell me 14 HRs, .257, and guess if it’s Torkelson, Carpenter, Justyn-Henry Malloy, Dillon Dingler, Colt Keith or […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?If the plural of “yippee” is now Yepez then Washington Nationals first baseman Juan Yepez is giving Nats fans a lot to cheer about lately. The former Cardinal carried his hot streak from pre-break to post-break with a monster game Friday night going 2-for-4 with a 3-run home run to extend Washington’s lead to six […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Good to see Michael Lorenzen (9 IP, 0 ER, 0 hits, 4 walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.23) succeed, finally a pitcher who can also hit. The Phillies fans matched the gravity of the moment, when the final out was recorded, they threw on the field name-brand batteries. None of those flimsy Costco-ass batteries! These suckers were overpriced from Wawa. Okay, okay, enough ragging on the Phillies. It’s a great city. Nowhere else can you get beat up for saying you don’t like Tastykakes. So, Michael Lorenzen’s had himself a bit of a career come-out. A Star Mitzvah, as they say. Or has he?! C’mon, Mr. Reversal Question, not now! Let us bask in his sub-7 K/9, 2-ish BB/9 and 4.00-ish neutral ERA. So, he’s likely not going to win any Cy Youngs, but he has been perfectly serviceable for most mixed leagues, especially the leagues, “Appreciated By Lovers of Tastykakes.” Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Mets 3B Ronny Mauricio is listed here as a third baseman today because that’s what he is today, apparently, according to a report that Buck Showalter told him as much during a meeting this week. Brett Baty is reportedly a man without a position for the near term. Seems like they have a great plan over there. Real shared mental map of the organizational outlook from top to bottom.
