What’s poppin’, Razzpimples?

Bullpen recap time!

Don’t forget to keep that Razzball Bullpen Chart bookmarked. It’s been updated with the latest, and I’m usually quick to get it touched up once any type of news drops. And if you’re not a subscriber, I do highly, highly, highly recommend it. The tools are — how do you say? — bussin’. If’n you’re of the mind to consider it, you can find all the info here. I’m partial to the Relievonator Game Log Tool. Truly a godsend for my nerdy backside.

Welp. Let’s do it to it, pardner.

Note: All stats and Player Rater values are accurate through Monday’s games.

Welp, it’s a boring son of a gun who headlines this week’s S[aves]GNOF column: Jesus Tinoco. And it’s only because he’s viable for saves-only leagues now. Don’t reckon I give much of a shart about him in SVHD formats, hence my moniker for him: Jesus “Just” Tinokay. If you’re after saves, though, well, you just gotta wrangle all the ones you can, and Mr. Tinokay looks like he’s the new Saves Shaman in Miami. Collected back-to-back saves for the Fins yet didn’t strike out a soul while doing it. Tinoco did pretty well last year, I just still can’t get super excited about him. Doesn’t bring a lot to the table. ERA predictors don’t even like his 3.18 ERA, he’s got a WHIP north of 1.20, and he’s got a grand total of 2 K. Metrics are blue across the board for the entire season (the ones I track: K%, BB%, SwStr%, and CSW%). Add for saves, leave be if you don’t need solely those.

A few gunslingers led the week with 3 SV: Emmanuel Clase, Josh Hader, Edwin Diaz, Tanner Scottand Kyle Finnegan.

  • Clase also earned a win and a blown save. I watched that blown save, and it was just a slow nightmare to behold. Had a 2.40 WHIP on the week. Yuck. Nothing to worry about as far as I’m concerned. One of those weeks.
  • Hader had great ratios and baller metrics. What a stud.
  • Diaz had 8 K. Love to see it.
  • Scott has yet to walk a batter in 2025 and is clearly the primary saves option for Roberts. I tolt y’all that would probably happen! He does like a true closer more often than not!
  • Finnegan just won’t go away as one of the best bargains in fantasy.

Handful of fellers led the week with 3 HLD: Reed Garrett, Alex Vesia, Bryan Abreu, and Abner Uribe.

  • Garrett looks strong so far this year: 0.00 ERA and a WHIP south of 1.00. I hope he can keep it up. Wasn’t really able to over the long haul last year. And don’t forget about the Dedniel Nunez guy who should get the call sooner or later…
  • I was like four years early on the Vesia hype train. He’s finally truly the real deal. BB% is kinda grody but love those 17 K in 11.1 IP.
  • Abreu is again struggling with control, and the K% isn’t what he’s capable of. Buy low!
  • Uribe is locked in right now. He’s been locked in before, and then it didn’t take too long to get unlocked in. Must-own in SVHD formats right now, regardless. He’s got 6 HLD while the next closest Brewer has 3 (Koenig).

And now all the other pards who managed 3 SVHD: Fernando Cruz, Jose Alvarado, Cade Smithand Luke Weaver.

  • Hate to see a 25 BB% from Cruz (2 SV, 1 HLD) this week, but overall he’s been on it like a Laura Ingalls Wilder bonnet in 2025: 5 SVHD, 2.25 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 19 K in 12 IP. I stole that phrase from a fantasy hockey pal, the brilliant TJ of Five Hole Fantasy Hockey Podcast.
  • Not a great week from Alvarado (2 SV, 1 HLD): 5.40 ERA (FIP was worse), 1.50 WHIP, and only 2 K. He’s already starting to look like the Alvarado I thought he might. The selling window is a-closin’ purty quick.
  • Smith (1 SV, 2 HLD), on the other hand, looks like the deadly sharpshootin’ buckaroo he was in 2024. Don’t give much of a ding dang darn about the ugly ratios he gave you — FIP/SIERA and the metrics painted a whole different picture.
  • Weaver (1 SV, 2 HLD) continues to be one of the better Setup Sheriffs in the game. So far in ’25, he’s up to 2 SV, 6 HLD while posting a 0.00 ERA, 0.64 WHIP, 32.5 K%, 14.9 SwStr%, and 30.4 CSW%.

Other standouts, for better or for worse:

  • Tommy Kahnle added 2 SV to his resume. Also earned a BS. Will Vest also had 2 SV. Hmmmmmmmmm. Mayhap we’ve got our co-closers in Detroit after all. Vest is another option for saves now, but I hesitantly prefer Tinoco if he’s got the gig to himself. Vest has sexier upside in a vacuum.
  • Justin Slaten picked up 2 SV. Absolutely filthy numbers this week. Since his implosion earlier in the year, he’s been lights out. Looking like a steal for all managers who kept the faith.
  • Devin Williams also had 2 SV. Tons of saves this week for Yanks dudes. Williams looked crappy, though: 12.00 ERA, 1.67 WHIP, 1 K. I don’t think there’s anything to worry about. But ugh, what a doo doo start to his Yankee tenure. He’s roasted your ratios so far.
  • Mason Miller with a -1.96 FIP on the week lol. This dude might be the single greatest thrower of baseballs ever. Just from a filthiness standpoint: 83.3 K% this week, and it’s at 58.3% for the season thus far.
  • Griffin Jax earned 2 HLD but also had 1 BS and 1 L. Horrendous 3.86 WHIP on the week, too. I’m holding, but it’s fair to bench him for now.
  • Mark Leiter Jr. earned 1 W and 2 HLD. Great numbers/metrics. Remember when he was a dandy Setup Sheriff for the Cubs? He’s at that peak again. Just boils down to actual high-leverage opps, and there seem to be enough to go around in New York at present.
  • Tyler Kinley, my offseason hero who failed me, had 1 SV and 6 K in 3.1 IP. Slung some nasty stuff this week: 43.4 CSW% and 18.9 SwStr%. I swear at some point he finally gets his chance to close and becomes viable again. I will MANIFEST THIS.
  • Trevor Megill earned 1 SV. Knee injury scare is a thing of the past. Suuuure, he had 0 K. Whatever. Another buy-low candidate.

Injury Updates:

  • Liam Hendriks is back and looked bad. Poor guy. Do not roster him anywhere.
  • Beau Brieske hit the IL (ankle). He’s starting to throw again.
  • Matt Brash is inching closer. Not the greatest rehab numbers in three appearances, but hey, he’s out there!
  • A.J. Puk hit the IL (elbow). Ruh roh. Shelby Miller and Jalen Beeks are the best holds options. RIP Ryan Thompson.
  • Evan Phillips is back. Looks great and already has 2 HLD. Only a deeper-league option, though. Too many sexy arms back there.
  • He swapped IL places with Blake Treinen (forearm). Oof.
  • Victor Vodnik to the IL (shoulder). Meh, who cares though, amirite? I mean, I want to see happy and healthy human beings, but for fantasy he’s got next to no upside in just about any format imaginable.

That’s all for this week! Thanks for reading. Leave me a comment below so I feel all warm and fuzzy.
