First we baked the cake, then we made the frosting. Today we put the whole thing together, for your consumption. What the hell am I talking about? It’s First Year Player Draft day for Monday’s 2018 MLB Draft. As has become annual tradition on the show, Lance and I release, debate and discuss the first edition of our 2018 First Year Player Draft rankings. We of course start the show with some of the top minor league news like Forrest Whitley’s return, and Shane Bieber’s promotion. We then jump into our 5×5, where Lance and I each choose 5 minor leaguers to discuss. Around minute 50 we start the ranks, making it as deep as 15-20 players. If that’s not enough coverage for you, Lance, myself, as well as others will be doing a live draft reaction show on Monday night. Make sure to check Twitter for that. And as always big shouts to our sponsor Rotowear! You can order the 1.01 Dad shirt I spoke about on the show by heading over to RotoWear.com and entering promo code “SAGNOF” for 20% off the highest quality t-shirts in the fantasy sports game. It’s the latest edition of the Razzball Fantasy Baseball Prospect Podcast:

Has Drew Waters slid into your top 75 by chance? Say above Triston Lutz, Rooker, or Pache?
Do you think Vasquez is done as closer for the Pirates? If so, who do you think is next in line? Richard Rodriquez just blew the save. It’s a mess. Thanks.
@Jon: My guess is Edgar Santana
Any J2 guys worth sprinkling into the top ten?
@Alcibiades Escobar: Is Victor Victor J2 technically? I need to see, J2 guys are tough until they come stateside. We’re guessing on bonus pools and scouting reports often from showcases.
Good to know. Thanks!
Ralph, love the podcasts, keep them coming.
Which side do you like here? (12 team H2H)
Castellanos/Kela for Berrios/Chris Taylor
Thanks a lot.
@Dan: Berry and Taylor
Drop Bradley Zimmer for Christin Stewart in a 16-team OPS keeper?
@Drew: Yea
Hey Ralph,
When do you expect Kopech and Senzel to get the call?
Thanks!
@Luke: Likely mid-summer, like post ASB
OK Ralph,
At your suggestion, I shuffled the deck a little bit:
1- Bohm-3B
2- Madrigal-2B
3- Liberatore – LHP
4- Bart – C
5- Gorman -3B
Is that a little better?
I have picks #1 and #2, so if they go NL I got those two for sure.
@jose H.: Looks good
Would you accept offer of Bregman and Berrios for Rizzo and Buehler? Thanks.
@eric: Nope, I want the Rizzo + Buehler side.
Ralph, question for you – drop one, AL only, keep for up to 5 years after callup:
$5 Bobby Bradley, CLE
$5 Brent Rooker,MIN
$2 Alex Kirilloff, MIN
$2 Brandon Marsh, LAA
Thanks!
@BootsyBaby: Braldey
A bit of upside hubbub on SP prospect Enyel De Los Santos lately… Do you see any promise in him?
@Goldirocks: Yes, like Enyel a lot, go back and check some of my recent articles.
Ralph,
I feel rude asking a question that doesn’t pertain to your post. Well fuck it, I’ll ask you a question about that Beiber dude getting called up. Heard dude has pinpoint control but lacks velocity. Does his stuff play in the sHoW? If you say listen to the podcast im going to tell that dude on the other shoulder the Halos suck. Which leads me into my original question…. I traded Altuve and Add Russell for (Billie Big Mouth Bass’s arch nemesis) Mike Trout, and I picked up Glyber Torres. Do you like the move. I have Jonny Shook on 2nd. 5×5 Roto… your shouts would be appreciated. And thoughts
@Dnut Eastwood: Lacks velocity? He was sitting 93-94. He has plenty of stuff, it’s just not AJ Puk stuff. He knows how to pitch, had a rough time third time through the order
@Ralph Lifshitz: I believe the lacking velocity citation came from an article on yahoo. If I find I will gladly forward it to you. 93-94 with a good arsenal is plentiful
Ralph,
I think Soroka may need another rehab start.
He retired all 11 batters he faced, but they pull him after 45 pitches and only three and two thirds innings. He cruised threw it, I don’t think he even broke a suet.
@jose H.: They had him on a pitch count.
Ralph,
I just listen to you guys and it seems that even you guys have different ideas.
I am heading in to the draft a week after the actual draft June 13. I will have five of the first eight picks or so. My mind set is that I am looking for big power hitters and left handed power pitchers.
Here is what I have in mind (if available):
#1- Bohm-3B
#2- Bart – C
#3- Liberatore – LHP
#4- Gorman -3B
#5- McClanahan – LHP
#6- Casas -1B
What do you think? Can you give me some MLB comps?
The way a lot of people are talking of Gorman, I am see some Joey Gallo there. Is that close?
@jose H.: I think you have Bart and McClanahan way too high. Why wouldn’t you want Mize or Madrigal?
@Ralph Lifshitz:
I think Mize is going to Detroit at 1-1 (AL) and I think Madrigal is going to be similar to Pedroia and I already have Urias at 2B and Tatis Jr at SS.
@jose H.: OHhh I didn’t realize this was NL only oops
Hello Ralph,
10 team yahoo 6×6 (OPS & QS)
in a 9 player keeper league with 3 n/a slots
I was offered my Springer for his Soto.
I am in 9th place and way out of contention.
Thanks.
@The Flayed Man: Go for it.
@Ralph Lifshitz:
Thank you.
Ralph,
With Jimenez and Tatis Jr hitting their 10th HR Thursday night, I have four prospects with ten or more HRs. Alonso (14), Riley (10), combined. 6 in AA and 4 in AAA, Jimenez (10) and Tatis Jr (10). The next too ONLY have 6 HRs (Kibert Ruiz & Taylor Trammell)
Trammell is putting a beautiful slash line (299/413/487/900), but after stealing 41 bases last year is only five for ten this year. Tatis Jr also stole 32 bases last year and is only five for seven this year. I guess it is more difficult to steal against the more experienced catchers.
@jose H.: You’re Reading too much into steal numbers, without context. They fluctuate.
