We all need some recharging every now and again; the stresses of work, family, and life in general can slowly drain us so that we aren’t at our best. I’m a middle/high school teacher, and I love (need?) summer break because it’s a time to recharge my mental/emotional batteries so that I can be at […]

There are so many options to consider when playing a 12 game slate and especially on a slate like today where no plays in particular stand out. While it can be overwhelming, I think it can also be much simpler. The same tenets of DFS still apply; Play for first place and build your lineups […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Pirates showing the brilliance of their organization with how they handled Paul Skenes (7 IP, 0 ER, 0 hits, 1 walk, 11 Ks, ERA at 1.90). He needed to stay down in the minors for a month this year to learn how to field bunts. Without that knowledge, he would not be striking out 11 […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Sometimes your life is tough. They don’t tell you that at first, but then either a wary parent or an honest teacher gives you the straight dope. “The reason things are tough is because life is tough,” they’ll say, either with a slight melancholy or an aggressive bark in their voice. They will tell you that struggling builds character, or resilience, or even chest hair. The ones who bring up chest hair are very stubborn on this point, and are either starring in a Dad Role in a 1950’s greaser movie, or a B-list comedian popping in a party scene in a Netflix teen drama that gives your brain the positive shock of, “Oh, it’s that comedian!” so you can try to forget that this may be the 1,000th episode of television where teenagers navigate the pitfalls of the dreaded “HOUSE PARTY.”
Please, blog, may I have some more? What is up party people? Now that All-Star rosters have been announced and we are rapidly approaching the break it is time to take a look at the Fantasy Baseball Points League All-Star hitters. Obviously these guys are near the top of the leader boards but I can’t help but give some special recognition to guys who are having a better season than anticipated. There are many more guys than those mentioned below who have made a case to be All-Stars but not everyone can make the team.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The 2024 Major League Baseball season is about 16 weeks old (more than halfway done already!), which means we finally have meaningful numbers that count to start evaluating our fantasy squads. With only 27 weeks in the fantasy baseball season, even a few weeks of information should help guide us to decisions about who deserves […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? The world’s hottest team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, line everyone up with a bat and give them orders. “We have to be aggressive! We need to move forward on the bases just like in real life! Practice it with me now! Move forward!” And they all went off a plank. Rarely do I like to do […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Reds OF Rece Hinds has splurted out of the big league gate like catsup that’s been sitting upside down on a warm summer’s day or a chocolate bar in the hands of a toddler on that same summer day. They’re having a picnic, maybe, and listening to the Cincinnati Reds game because this is the 1970’s in middle America we’re talking about now through the power of sentences. In that era, a guy like Rece Hinds might hang around on the strength of 30 home run thump with the sort of off-the-bus skills that played well in those days, but which I mean he looks good getting off the bus, or sitting on the plane, or taking batting practice on the field. It’s hard to predict how free swingers will react to advanced scouting, but everything we’ve seen so far suggests pitchers will figure out they don’t have to throw strikes against Hinds, and that’ll put the squeeze back in the bottle real quick, as the kids say. Hinds struck out 38.4 percent of the time in 77 Triple-A games this year in part because he can’t catch up to the high cheese, and he can’t lay off the sauce down and out. Ingest at your own risk.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Well hello everyone, back after a two week hiatus. No, I wasn’t holding out for a higher salary. Nope, didn’t visit my Sherpa to tell me what to do for my struggling TGFBI squad (he would have said, remember you have it and make moves). I was in Colorado with the family and told them […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?We are back for another week of trying to piece a winning Wednesday lineup together. Today, we are putting most of our eggs into the anti-Patrick Corbin basket. I have no idea why the Nationals continue to trot Corbin out there, but with his 5.49 ERA facing a scorching hot Mets lineup, we’re here to […]

Rey, and we’re here to say…Hey, this is going to be hit, right? Boom! Bit! Because all we do is get hits. Olestra gives us the shits! Us and Rowdy […]
