For most of the season, my look into Up-and-Coming Dynasty Players has obviously tended to feature young players who have upside. That said, I have mostly shied away from Top 100 prospects who are now in the majors.

Why? Well, if you are a veteran dynasty player or even new to this level of fantasy baseball, you should know about those players. There is a reason why they are listed as Top 100 prospects – they are expected to be very good.

This week I continue to avoid a top prospect who is now in the majors. But I am taking a left turn when it comes to highlighting a young player. That is because Tyler Fitzgerald is not a young player. Fitzgerald is 26 years old and turns 27 in September.

Fitzgerald has also never been a Top 100 prospect nor a Top 10 prospect in the San Francisco organization.

So why do I think Fitzgerald is an Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player? Because sometimes players are late bloomers. And sometimes it is imperative to have depth on your team. Fitzgerald fits both of those categories.

Nationals outfielder slash heartthrob slash wait-he-did-what Alex Call came through for Washington with a walk-off single in extra innings for Nats. Jesse Winker who is right! Call also scored the game-tying run in the 8th inning and is now batting a real sweaty .459 (17-37) since being re-Called to the big league roster. Through those […]

Brewers rang the bell of Ding Dong City and said, “Ding Dong, we’re home. We’re now the Mayors here. Hit the bricks. Yes, we have paperwork to prove it! What do we look like? Squatters?” Then the Brewers pulled out yesterday’s box score and showed them their paperwork for the keys to Ding Dong City. […]

Hello my dear friends. I apologize for the absence, but I was getting my butt into a master’s program (because one masters wasn’t enough), and then some family stuff popped up. There will be no grand introduction today, as I’m already seven minutes past my deadline. I’m happy to be back, but burdened by teams populated with Julio Rodriguez, Carlos Correa, and Nolan Jones.

What is up party people? Few things are worse than seeing a guy in the midst of a breakout season go down with injury. Jordan Westburg was that guy and it sucks that he may miss the rest of the season. Naturally you will need a replacement. He may not be available in your league but if he is he should be your top add. Luis Garcia has come out of the break on a mission, just to be clear, I mean the Luis Garcia who plays second base for the Nationals and breakout season he is having. He’s about to pass last year’s point totals and we still have two more months. And over the past month he has really turned it on, batting over .350 with 6 home runs. That’s a very nice month but he’s actually been pretty good all year long. How has he accomplished this you might ask. Well he’s making better contact and hitting the ball harder more often so his batting average is about 20 points higher than last season. He has also unlocked his speed and the 18 bags he’s swiped have more than doubled his career total. And while his 19 doubles don’t put him anywhere near the top of the leader board he is very close to surpassing his previous career high. Power is a similar story, although he has already set a career high in that department. Roll all that together and you end up with a pretty solid player. If he’s still available, you might want to change that, he can help your ream down the stretch.
