“Left” gets a bad rap.  I’m not sure why that is, but it is. Left is defined as: relating to a person or group favoring liberal, socialist, or radical views. Why they gotta go there and make it so dramatic. Radical? Really? Type in the word right and what comes up? Morally good. True. Fact. Acceptable. Hmmm. How about Tinder? You swipe right if you’re interested in someone and left if you’re not. Granted, a big percentage of car accidents occur when making a left turn in an intersection, but on the other hand, NASCAR races, in which cars approach speeds of 200 mph, only turn left. Which brings me to Jesse Winker of the Cincinnati Reds, who was dropped in 6.7% of ESPN leagues over the past week. Since left is the outcast, and Winker bats from the left side of the plate, do we swipe left and follow the crowd?

FanDuel: Snell The Roses

Two weeks ago I mentioned that you’re going to have to familiarize yourself with all these call-ups because a lot of them are going to be mis-priced as punts/extreme values for the first few games. Let’s see here – D.J. Stewart, $2,300, Jack Mayfield, $2,200, Yaz’s grandson, $2,700 (I’m not going to look up how to spell the last name, even though the whole point of this intro is that a good DFS player should familiarize themselves with all these guys coming up, so okay, fine, Mike Yastrzemski, $2,700). If you’re not making sure to know each and every one of these guys, even someone like Garrett Stubbs (a $2,000 catcher that you’re probably never, ever playing on FanDuel),  then you’re just putting yourself at that much of a disadvantage. Last week I pointed out that Didi Gregorious is $2,000 and will be coming back sometime soon. FanDuel hasn’t fixed that yet and it will happen sooner rather than later. I will continue to include that factoid in every introductory paragraph for this article until he returns.

Derek Must Be Eating A Diet Rich In Popeye Spinach

The last time anything this exciting came from a Reds’ DD was Kevin Mitchell in 1994 when demonstrating his barehanded catch on Morganna. Yesterday, Derek Dietrich went 3-for-4, 6 RBIs with his 15th, 16th and 17th homers. To add insult to injury, it came against the Pirates, who earlier this year he homered off of, which sparked a benches-clearing brawl because of how he was lallygagging around the bases.  For yesterday’s home runs, Dietrich would not be outdone.  For his first home run, he tagged Ric Flair and had him WOOOOOOOO around the bases. A totally legal maneuver, says in the rulebook.  For his 2nd homer, he stood on the shoulders of a bear on roller skates and skated around the bases.  Then, not to be topped, for his third home run, the PA announcer played porn music and Dietrich stopped at every base and mimed sexual acts with the Pirates infielders. So disrespectful to the game!  Ex-Marlin Dietrich has 17 homers, the entire Marlins team has 36 homers.  *lays on the floor, rolls around, laughing* If only there was an acronym for that.  If you drafted Dietrich, Bellinger and Yelich (a totally reasonable possibility), please drop by the comments so I can bathe in your glow.  As for Dietrich, reminds me of Scooter’s breakout a few years ago. Not sure if Dietrich gets to 30+ homers–Excuse me, I should say I’m not sure if he gets to 30 homers by the All-Star break.  Speaking of which, vote Derek Dietrich for the All-Star Game so he can do a three-day home trot. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Top 100 Hitters, Week 9: JRam’s Last Stand

#100. One hundred. Benjamin Franklin. C-note. One hunnit (RIP Nipsey Hussle.) That’s where you’ll find Jose Ramirez this week. Last week he was sitting at a no-so-nice #69 and he had another awful week: 6 games, 20 ABs, 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 HRs, 0 RBI, 0 SB. Sorry Ramirez fans — his season line: 193 ABs, 17 runs, 4 HRs, 15 RBI, 12 SBs, .197 is not a top-100 player anymore. However, this might be a perfect buy low opportunity since Ramirez is an avid Razzballer and doesn’t want to find himself missing from the most controversial column on the site.

Well, unfortunately we can’t provide you any sweet, sweet cowbell, but we can take you through the week in Fantasy Baseball, one outlandish conversation at a time. We of course spend half the show discussing recent call-ups, before diving into Josh Bell’s breakout, Brandon Woodruff coming of age, and if Rafael Devers is a top three round pick in the making. While we’re in good spirits I encourage Grey to take a victory lap for Adalberto Mondesi’s early returns, before running through some good adds for the week ahead. I hope everyone got to enjoy a long weekend this Memorial Day.  I took in some sunshine at the lake with some burgers and dogs with the unofficial kickoff to summer up here in the north country.  I’ve got the sunburn to prove it. Nothings says summer kickoff like coming home looking like a lobster. I’m all recovered though and ready to bring you the goings on for the week in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  We had a change at the top spot for the first time in four weeks. A certain ‘Pert is back on top of the ‘Perts League heap and we had a couple of weekly records fall. All this and more in the week that was, week 8 in the RCLs:

FanDuel: Cron-tastic

Even though his little brother has stolen all of the family’s fantasy hype, C.J. Cron ($3,900) has continued to mash at the plate for the Twins. Cron has a 1.005 OPS with four homers in the last two weeks, and has been an underrated part of the absolute bomb squad that Minnesota’s lineup has become. Cron already has 13 homers on the year, and is an outstanding source of runs and RBI batting third for the Twins. He should have another productive game tonight against Brewers starter Zach Davies, who clearly has some regression on the way. Davies has just a 16.7% K-rate with a 4.17 FIP, 5.00 SIERA, and a 4.61 Deserved Run Average. Cron will likely continue to fly under the radar despite being arguably the best option at first base on the slate with this matchup. He’s worth grabbing in all contests as a power upside play.

I hope everyone’s Memorial Day was filled with hot dogs, hamburgers, fireworks that were meant to be saved until July 4th but were blown off yesterday so close to your ear that you still have a ringing, and all the other red-white-blue American things one hears backstage at a Larry The Cable Guy concert.  My Memorial Day was filled with eating and burping and farting and wearing an American flag t-shirt, but that’s every Monday.  Eat a D, ISIS!  Yesterday, Gerrit Cole loved the troops more than most starters, posting a line of 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 4.02.  Woke SpongeBob, “Yo, dem high-ranked starters are da bomb dot org.”  Yo, WSB, you don’t sound so woke.  “Go f–k yourself.”  Wow, WSB, is lit!  Cole’s peripherals: 14.1 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 2.22 xFIP and is technically the number one starter in all of baseball if his luck was neutral. Don’t love trading for a top starter, but it’s hard to find a better buy low right now, due to his ERA.  He could rattle off 120 innings of a sub-1 ERA.  That’s Murica thru & thru.  Not spelling shizz out is Murica too.  Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

FanDuel: Max Out Monday

Despite all 30 teams playing on Memorial Day, the path to FanDuel’s SP1 is pretty clear. All roads lead to a Mad Max type of Monday. The Nationals’ Max Scherzer is a dominant force regardless of his opponent. He has a 2.99 SIERA (second-lowest on the slate) as well other eye-popping stats such as a 2.88 xFIP and a 32.4% K rate. But then you consider that he is facing a lowly Miami Marlins’ offense and he is the easy choice as the top starting pitcher on the slate. The Marlins have a 26% K rate and a terribly low .101 ISO versus right-handed pitching in 2019. Look for Max Scherzer to carry your FanDuel lineups on Monday.

I love this Brendan Rodgers guy!  Woo-hoo, Cavan Biggio (3-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer)!  How about that Kevin Cron?!  Can I fit Yordan Alvarez on my team?  I need some of that good shizz!  What’s Kyle Tucker doing on my opponent’s team?  Nuh-uh-uh, I just traded Scherzer for him!  What’s your thoughts on Oscar Mercado? Because I just dropped Trout for him!  Rookie call-up after call-up is, uh, called up.  Rooks flashing before your eyes.  You grab every one of them because you need that sweet taste of upside.  “Due to a water ski accident, I can only taste tart and upside.”  That’s you talking to your mouse hand as you pick up rookies.  Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is promoted, and… *hand to ear, listening*….what’s the absence of sound?  I can hear thoughts in my head wondering why parts of the ear are all former wrestlers…The Hammer, The Anvil, The Body…. Then Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hits a home run on Friday, another on Saturday and goes 4-for-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs on Sunday with his third homer in three games.  So, are you interested now in Lourdes Gurriel Jr.?  You think about it, then, “What do you think of Mitch Keller?  Better than Ryu?” Grab that Gurriel!  Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
