I asked ChatGPT this great philosophical question, “If mom says don’t play ball in the house, and when she said it she was in the Brady House, and Brady House plays ball, is he making mom mad?” ChatGPT didn’t say anything in return, but smoke rose from its robot ears and started sputtering. I defeated […]

Happy summering, fantasy baseball friends! I’m in the middle of a road trip writing this, and it always amazes me how missing just a few games, where I’m not really paying much attention to baseball, can make me feel like I’m suddenly out of touch with what’s going on in some of my leagues. Honestly, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?In a previous post I discussed the idea of using a player’s expected batting average (xBA) to analyze how “lucky” hitters are getting in terms of BABIP. During this process, I put a lot of thought into what it means for a player to be getting a lot of hits on balls in play; Are […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Philadelphia Phillies is such a funny name. It’s like the California Calis or the New York Yorkies. How’d that get through 150 years of name changes to get to us? ACKSUALLY, I wonder if it’s because it’s such an old name it’s how it’s here. The name is from 1883, and back then people would […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Jar Jar Binks is one of the most hated characters in the Star Wars universe. And for good reasons. The voice was annoying. The words that surfed on the voice collided to produce buffoonery. His role as comedic element and usher for the young crowd was water on oil for The Phantom Menace. Addison Barger of […]

Please, blog, may I have some more?Major League Baseball has now played 12 of 26 weeks this season, which means we have some statistical basis, but not a whole season, to evaluate players for our fantasy baseball squads. With Opening Day well past us and the dog days of summer ahead, who have been some of the more interesting risers and […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? This is my mea culpa on Chris Sale (8 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.52). I said to avoid him and I blew it like I was Scott Blewett. Why was Sale left in to throw 116 pitches yesterday? That I don’t know, but my guess is Brian Snitker stopped […]

Those were my initial thoughts regarding this Rafael Devers trade.
The Red Sox treated real baseball like a video game during the off-season, signing Alex Bregman before discussing the possibilities with Rafael Devers, a player they had recently signed for $313.5 million. I’m not saying a team should run every transaction by their third baseman, but if you’re going to sign an All-Star at your franchise player’s position, you might want to lay some groundwork within the clubhouse.

Please, blog, may I have some more?In our 95th episode, Mike Couillard and Jeremy Brewer open by discussing the implications of the deal that sent Rafael Devers to San Francisco along with other news and notes from around MLB and card collecting. Then we review the May Players of the Month and make selections for each player to induct into the pod PC. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Beaten and bruised, the Rockies entered Washington. They just saw their best friend, the great Apollo Creed, die because Bud Black didn’t throw the towel fast enough. Instead, he threw a lineup card with their best hitter in the 9-hole and their 2nd best hitter on the bench, but that’s another story. The odds, as […]
