Another 3 day holiday weekend and boy I like it. Plenty of sports on fantasy football drafts in full force, NFL season starts in a few days and playoff baseball on the horizon it’s a great time to be alive for sure. We have about a month left in MLB DFS so let’s not stop now and see what we have here on this beautiful Labor Day. It’s a robust 12 game schedule today and the pitcher that stood out to me is Chris Sale ($10,700).
Chris has looked great since his return to the mound and faces the Tampa Bay Rays today at Home where he has started 3 out of his 4 games this year and is 3-0 with a 1.04 WHIP. The Rays struggle against lefties and Sale pitched well against them last week in a start in Tampa and don’t see any reason why he doesn’t go 6-7 INN once again with upside to strikeout close to double digits and give up one run or less. He is the most expensive pitcher on the slate but I believe he is worth the chalk today and the Red Sox win this one handily.

SP- Sonny Gray ($9,200) Sonny has had an interesting year but is finishing strong after a subpar July and has pitched well of late winning his last 3 starts. He faces the Cubs today at Wrigley so obviously watch the wind/weather there after the 11-8 win yesterday against the Cubs. I don’t think there will be that many runs scored and Gray could have a watered down lineup he’s facing as well. A nice safe floor here and the Reds are playing for something while the Cubs are not.
C/1B- Pete Alonso ($3,500) Pete has a tasty matchup today against Patrick Corbin. Pete hits .591 SLG and .943 OPS against lefties and is having a great start to the month of September. I don’t think Corbin has anything that is going to fool Pete and Pete usually doesn’t go more than 10 games without a HR and that’s where he is now so this looks like a spot here to target Alonso for a HR.
2B- Luis Urias ($2,400) Nice sneaky play here against Wheeler. Usually bats lead off so you will get the at-bats. Wheeler has had a good year but has had four starts in a row where he has given up 4 ER or more. Even if Wheeler gets Urias the first couple of times the Philadelphia bullpen is awful and Urias should have a couple of cracks against them as well. Nice affordable play here.
3B- Eduardo Escobar ($3,300) Escobar is a streaky hitter and with his three-hit game yesterday I think he’s about to go on another one. He hasn’t hit a HR since August 2nd and with 24 HR on the year I don’t think he just forgot how to hit one. He’s due and I think Wheeler makes a mistake to him and he hits one out today.
SS-Gleyber Torres ($3,000) This is a good spot for Torres against Ryu. Torres had a great August hitting .393 and hits lefties well. Ryu has gotten the better of Torres in the past as Torres is only 1-12 against him but if Boone decides to bat Torres 5th in the order where Torres has been the most effective, I think Torres finds one to his liking and drives in some men on base here.
OF- Juan Soto ($4,300) Soto has been outstanding in the 2nd half of the season and faces Trevor Williams who gives up a lot of hard contact. Should be a nice game for Soto today.
OF- Akil Baddoo ($3,000) Baddoo faces Bryse Wilson and he hits righties significantly better than lefties which bodes well for him today. Hits at top of the lineup and has come out of the gate looking good in September. Nice low-cost option here with upside.
OF- Bryan Reynolds ($2,900) Numbers across the board favor hitting lefties for Reynolds and is coming off a huge game yesterday. Was slumping a bit before the breakout game yesterday so he’s about to heat up once again with series against the Tigers and Nationals next. Faces Tarik Skubal here who gives up a lot of hard contact.
UTIL-Trey Mancini ($3,400) Trey faces Kris Bubic today and Mancini mashes lefties to a tune of .549 SLG and .912 OPS. Bubic has given up 20 HR in 99 IP so once every 5 IP, and 17 of those HR were to righties so Trey has a good shot here at launching one out of here.

I’ll back the dog here at home. Allen has looked great his last two starts and the Twins aren’t exactly making a playoff run here. Value on the Indians today.
