Sundays are my favorite MLB DFS day of the week.  It’s a day where you are guaranteed (provided there are no COVID outbreaks or team protests of course) a large slate of games.  On FanDuel, you even have the choice of including the Sunday Night Baseball game in the slate if you so desire.  I always prefer large slates to small ones since I feel like more options give inexperienced players more opportunity to mess things up and it allows me to dive deep.  With that said, I’m going to suggest something completely crazy here and recommend you build AT LEAST one GPP lineup today with starting pitcher Dane Dunning ($5,500).  I mean, just look at that price tag and then imagine all the Coors exposure you can have as a result.  You can have all the Tatis, all the Machado, all the Arenado!  With Coors playing down a bit so far, at least according to recency bias, people could even be crazy enough to fade Coors!  Imagine!  Alright, enough exclamation points, you get the picture.  Have fun with it, throw it a $1 GPP and see what happens, live a little, then make a more sane lineup, which I’ll talk about below:

New to FanDuel? Scared of feeling like a small fish in a big pond? Well, be sure to read our content and subscribe to the DFSBot for your daily baseball plays. Just remember to sign up through us before jumping into the fray. It’s how we know you care!

Framber Valdez, SP: $9,900 – Framber is the top priced option today and also the top ranked.  He’s your safety net in cash games, playing at home and he’s looked great.  I know he was the top priced FAB option in my Razzslam league and for good reason.  With the Astros lineup behind him, he should be a lock for a win. And would you look at that…I jinxed it and we have positive tests postponing this game.  Ugh.  Go with Castillo in cash or look to Woodruff based on Vegas’ confidence in the Brew Crew as noted below.  What a mess of a season!

Luis Castillo, SP: $9,100 – Personally, if I’m not building a powerhouse lineup and punting pitcher with Dunning, I’ll probably pivot off of Framber and look to save a little with Castillo.  Castillo has been amazing so far this season with a 12.5 K/9 and his 2.06 FIP vs. 3.62 ERA suggests he’s actually been a tad unlucky so far.  Lots of folks will likely overlook him today and pay up for Framber or Snell vs. MIA, but I’m all over Castillo vs. the Cubs.

Eric Hosmer, C/1B: $4,000 – The first part of our all Coors lineup will be Eric Hosmer, though I could also see picking a Coors catcher for this slot and powering up elsewhere, speaking of catchers…

Kurt Suzuki, C/1B: $2,100 – The Nats have been a mess this season, you know how I know?  They’ve batted Suzuki clean-up on more than one occasion.  That’s, uh, interesting, but it’s nice for us if we can get a two thousand dollar clean-up hitter.  Sneaky!

Howie Kendrick, 2B: $2,800 – Zack Godley and Red Sox pitching is just plain bad.  One of my biggest DFS strategies of the year has been to stack against them and nothing changes today.

Jurickson Profar, 2B: $3,000 – I added Profar in all my season-long leagues going into this series only to see him sit the first two games out.  He’s got to play today, right?  If so, load him up!

Manny Machado, 3B: $4,200 – I’m old enough to remember when people were avoiding Machado going into this season, well, he’s redeeming himself!

Rafael Devers, 3B: $3,200 – My DFS article auto-play makes yet another appearance.  Devers’ price is creeping up there, but it’s still not where it should/could be and Austin Voth is just plain bad.

Fernando Tatis Jr., SS: $4,900 – The GOAT, find a way to get him in your lineup.

Xander Bogaerts, SS: $3,300 – Or save a couple bucks and stack against Voth some more.

Joey Gallo, OF: $3,400 – I would obviously prefer Trent Grisham or Charlie Blackman or maybe even Ramiel Tapia in the OF, but I don’t want to fill this entire article with Coors plays, so here’s Joey Gallo.  A fine threat for a dong, with the platoon advantage on Tony Gonsolin today.

Kyle Schwarber, OF: $3,100 – Our BvP play of the day if you’re not rostering Luis Castillo.  Schwarbs has three dingers off Castillo in 21 plate appearances.

Alex Verdugo, OF: $2,900 – If Verdugo is hitting leadoff, he’s a lock at this price, so check the lineup and roster accordingly.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

We are remarkably clear today, fire away!

Doing Lines In Vegas

Brandon Woodruff and the Brewers are the biggest favorites today at -230 and that game also features the day’s lowest run total at 8.5.  I could definitely see rostering Woodruff against the Pirates pathetic offense for these reasons.  He is priced at $9,100 though.  The biggest over/under is in Colorado (shocking!) with a massive 12.5 run total, but [email protected] is right behind with an 11.5 run total.
