It’s a travel day for me.  As you read this, I’ll be sitting comfortably in 15C cruising through the friendly skies for the first time in over two years, making my way toward the Windy City.  Of course, the very first thing I did when this business trip came up… check the respective schedules for the Cubs and Pale Sox.  Wouldn’t you know it, they play each other this week, bookended by matinee games with the LA teams on Monday (LAA-CWS) and Friday (LAD-CHC).  I’m hoping to get to that Friday game at Harry Caray’s house but it’s going to be tough – wish me luck!  But enough about my travel dilemmas, let’s spend some time on your DFS needs.  We have a completely full slate to pick through today, so I promise to put aside my thoughts of deep-dish pizza long enough to build your lineups.

Corbin Burnes, SP: DK: $10,200 / FD: $10,700 – Ok, this one doesn’t take a lot of analysis on my part.  Many of the big boys are pitching today so why not start your lineup with the best?  Plus, this is a revenge game of sorts for Burnes after the Cubbies roughed him up for 3 ER and only 4 punch-outs on Opening Day.

Joe Musgrove, SP: DK: $9,600 / FD: $10,400 – Joe Musgrove faces off against his old mates in Pittsburgh.  He has been stellar from the bump so far, inducing a swinging strike rate of 13.1% leading to a K/9 of 9.0.  Through 4 starts this season, he has pitched 6 or more innings in each contest, with an average score in FanDuel over 40.  Expect more of the same today.

Travis d’Arnaud, C/1B: DK: $5,500 / FD: $3,400 – I don’t see many great catcher recommendations today so I’m looking to grab one with a solid floor.  To me, that’s Travis d’Arnaud, who is maintaining a triple slash of .321/.345/.482 so far in 2022.  For your DraftKings lineup, he is averaging a little over 8 points per contest with only 3 goose eggs of note.  That works for me.

C.J. Cron C/1B: DK: $5,100 / FD: $4,200 – I love me some C.J. Cron.  Season-long, Best Ball, or DFS, it really doesn’t matter.  I have him everywhere.  You know who else loves him today – Hittertron.  C.J. is the top-rated 1st baseman…and for good reason.  He faces a LHP (Sanmartin) where he has an OPS of 1.087 so far.  The Rockies are at home where he averages over 17.6 per game in FanDuel.  Do I need to continue?  I thought not!

Jonathan India, 2B: DK: $4,300 / FD: $3,700 – After missing 9 games due to a hamstring injury, Jonathan India has picked right back up where he left off, with hits in the first 4 games, capped off with a 3-hit game on Friday.  He generally hits both RHP and LHP well, but the stat that jumps out at me is his tendency to hit better on the road, an oddity for Reds players.  In both 2021 and so far this season, his OPS is markedly better on the road than The Queen City, making him a must play at Coors today.

Jose Ramirez, 3B: DK: $5,600 / FD: $4,100 – Jose Ramirez has been nothing short of a beast this season.  In fact, if fantasy MVP votes were tallied right now, I’m confident he’s the clear winner.  In today’s DFS column, I have some high-priced recommendations but if you’re going to select any of them, this is the one to take.  The matchup versus RHP James Kaprielian has me salivating.  Check out these numbers versus RHP in April: .407/.476/.852 triple slash with 5 HRs and 20 RBIs.  Add to this a 1.273 OPS on the road makes JRam my #1 recommendation today.

Dansby Swanson, SS: DK: $3,200 / FD: $3,000 – Lieutenant Dan needs to put in some work if he’s going to get promoted back into the sweet spots of the Braves lineup.  Putting in the work is exactly what Dansby has been doing lately recording hits in 7 of his last 10 games and raising his OPS over 200 points over the same stretch.  The Braves draw Texas LHP, Taylor Hearn, today in a matchup that looks to favor my man Dan, so I’m in.

Byron Buxton, OF: DK: $6,000 / FD: $4,000 – Byron Buxton is a complicated player in DFS.  Through the Twins first 20 games, he has 7 DNPs – but we don’t want to talk about those.  When he does play, he’s either boom or bust with not much in between.  He’s had 5 games averaging 36.9 in FanDuel.  On the flip side, 8 games averaging under 2.0.  See…complicated!  If you want more of a sure thing, you should probably look elsewhere.  But if you’re going for a big payday, and since he’s healthy today, put him in your lineup.

Connor Joe, OF: DK: $5,700 / FD: $3,900 – Connor Joe has been a pleasant surprise for both the Rockies and all of us in the fantasy world.  Slashing .278/.352/.519 through the first 19 games, he’s been a steady performer and should give you the confidence to put him into your DFS lineup.  Plus, the Rockies are at home versus a LHP (see Cron above), a place where Joe already has 5 double-digit games on the ledger this season.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

There is some light rain forecasted across MLB games today, but none appear to be at risk.  Winds will cause havoc to some pitchers though, especially for games in The Show Me State and the Bay Area.

Doing Lines In Vegas

The Diamondbacks are listed as +177 versus Jordan Hicks and the Cardinals.  A strong wind blowing out in St Louis could act as an equalizer here and push the odds closer to neutral.  Drop a dime on these plus odds.
