Roto-Wan is back monkey chuckers, and on less sleep than ever! I actually threw up last night out of sheer exhaustion after feeding the little-wan. I did not know that was possible. Thank to B_Don for being an adequate at best fill in for me. Yesterday was the trade deadline and bullpens were heavily reworked for many contenders. Tiers are of course baby themed. Time for some notes!
- Shane Greene and Mark Melancon became Atlanta Braves. Atlanta has designs on a postseason run and wanted to load up the reliever clip. Greene has been great this season. That should continue on a better team. The biggest indictment of how the Braves felt about their bullpen was shipping Kolby Allard for Chris Martin’s sore back. I don’t get that one.
- The Mariners bullpen has been so great the Nationals just had to have multiple parts, acquiring Hunter Strickland and Roenis Elias in two separate deals. I don’t really get why Washington was buying at all. Either of those guys could be a cut in 2020 spring training.
- Nick Anderson will quietly slot into a Rays backend that has been shaky lately. Anderson has amazing stuff. The Rays have worked some wonders with their pitcher acquisitions so I’d buy him on the cheap and stash.
- The Twins get Sam Dyson from the Giants. Dyson has had effective stretches in his career and Minnesota is still looking for a right-handed complement to Taylor Rogers. They also added Sergio Romo. He’s Sergio Romo, though.
- The biggest head-scratcher was Milwaukee giving up number three prospect Mauricio Dubon for Drew Pomeranz and Ray Black. This one had twitter on fire. Play a little hardball at the negotiating table, Brewers. Black’s an interesting piece, I guess. Pomeranz has been better in the bullpen… for four games. That’s not a sample size it’s a road trip.
- The most wide open roles to speculate on are Seattle, Miami, and Texas. I’d prefer a dark horse since all three are wildly unpredictable.
New Baby Smell
One of nature’s miracles. Hold a baby close and the have an amazing unique smell.

He has no real ‘lines’, but how can you go against a bot that helps instead of trolls on the internet. There when you need him, but don’t expect to have much of a conversation without a translator. How did Luke know how to talk droid?
Baby Smiles
Apparently, they’re induced by gas and not emotion. Still, a smiling baby is ridiculously cute.

Middle Of The Night Feedings
They’re necessary to, you know, keep this new thing alive. Man do they suck, though. Your essence is slowly sapped by them.
Getting Pooped On
It’s going to happen. It’s going to be gross. You’re going to want to avoid it by passing it off to someone else…
Congrats on the baby! You will now gain all that baby weight your wife loses — enjoy!
Considering I gained about as much as she did, I hope not!
AL-only keeper, in 1st place, have a couple open P slots w/ interleague trades and should use at least one of them on spec SV after losing Greene to the NL. My remaining RP are Workman and Pagan. How would you prioritize Shafer, Chavez, N. Anderson, Givens and Dyson?
Chavez is interesting short term. Dyson or Anderson could emerge with a role in time.
I’ve been reading some stuff that Stanek is a closer in waiting for MIA…thoughts??
I was wondering that as well. He was a closer in the minors and is probably better suited to that role than the humps they have left in their pen.
Certainly possible. I haven’t seen anything saying Miami is considering using an opener.
Congrat on the baby, my dood, welcome back! Here are some edits to consider for next week…
Treinen should be next up for the A’s, I think.
Cross of Phelps or move him, he’s a Cub now. And add Mayza and Shafer for Toronto.
Stanek should be on the chart maybe, he should be back in like a week or so and could take over in Miami.
Kelvin Herrara is hurt, Bummer is next in line for me.
Diekman got moved over to Oakland.
And Strop and Ryan Pressly both went on the IL recently.
Thanks Boss. It was a busy week to jump back in!
Wade Davis, wtf?! I want to rage drop him for Shafer or even Oberg. Just had to vent, thanks.
This is the Wade Davis experience. Enjoy?
Congrats on the little Wan!
Greene was more than solid on a really bad team. He’s more than a solid burb!
Thanks. Probably true. I blame B_Don.
Congrats! Nothin’ like that new baby smell.
14-team 5×5 roto…(Saves+Holds)
I own Brad Hand and Liam Hendriks.
I picked up Joe Jimenez and Archie Bradley after yesterday’s trade day.
I have an offer out to a guy who is in last and owns Doolittle…offering Max Fried.
Do I even need Doolittle?
How would you rank my guys considering we’re looking at ERA-WHIP-Ks and (Saves+Holds)?? Hand-Hendriks-JJ-Archie?
That’s probably accurate. I don’t mind that deal. Three of those guys may not be closing in a month.
I think Liam is on his way out of that role. I dropped him for Joe Jimenez.
I’m just gonna handcuff them on my roster.
Treinen and Liam that is
Bailey pitched 6, Diekman got the 7th, Treinen for the Win in the 8th and Hendriks for the Save tonight.
Maybe Hendriks has the job for a while longer…
Like the creativity in these articles. Especially in the closer rankings
Thanks!
