It’s important to give you 2nd basemen sleepers, but finding them was not easy. Spent longer than I care to admit (27 seconds) to try to find a good 2nd baseman that won’t be drafted high. Also, I know most of you play in 12-team mixed leagues, so I try not to give you too insanely deep sleepers. Let me show you a few points of reference for my research:

That’s max EV for 2nd baseman with 150 batted ball events. Here’s Barrels per plate appearance:

Finally, Hard Hit%:

Daniel Schneemann might be interesting if you’re in a 15-teamer with no waivers, like a Draft Champions league; Luis Garcia Jr. is a perennial fave of mine, but I gave you a sleeper for him last year and won’t repeat myself; Casey Schmitt appears a few times, but has 15-homer power (at most) and zero speed with a career .228 average; maybe Kristian Campbell returns and makes good; I even looked at Cole Young and Leo Rivas, both have speed, but feel more like Only league guys, that brings us to Lenyn Sosa. I do think a guy named Lenyn would be happy to see a lot of different players get some shine in his post. Or shnyn, I suppose. So, what can we expect from Lenyn Sosa for 2026 fantasy baseball and what makes him a sleeper?

Last year Lenyn Sosa went 57/22/75/.264/2 in 518 ABs with a 3.3 BB% and 23.3 K%. His Launch Angle went year over year from 12.3 to 18.4 and his ground ball rate was 32%. Sammy Sosa’s brother from another mother and father hits the ball hard and in the air. [passing home plate and tapping chest with peace sign and signaling to the sky, Sosa-style] He had the 4th highest line drive rate in the majors. That list is not exactly a who’s who of GET SOME. The top four were Zach McKinstry, Luis Arraez, Steven Kwan and Sosa. Behind him, s’s and g’s is J.P. Crawford, Bryan Reynolds, Xavier Edwards, Luis Rengifo, and Gavin Lux. Are we sure line drives aren’t a bad thing? Okay, let’s sort by something else though. How about top line drive rates and over 40% fly ball rates? Lenyn Sosa is number one, then Zach Neto, Ernie Clement, Mike Trout, Andy Pages, Ian Happ, Michael Busch, Brent Rooker and Seiya Suzuki. Not a perfect list, but a helluva lot better. One might even say they’re all worthwhile names. Ernie Clement a sneaky one, then others are excellent or, ya know old, injured and Trout. In fact (Grey’s got more!), since 2019, there’s been three players to have a 544 plate appearances (Sosa’s last year), 24.9% line drive rate (also Sosa’s) and 43.1% fly ball rate (you guessed it): Mike Trout and Jorge Polanco in 2019, they went respectively: 45/.291 and 22/.295. It’s rare to have line drives and fly balls, and excellent for power.

So, that brings us to the third element of every great fantasy producer: Speed. Welp, there’s not much here. Maybe five steals if we’re lucky. I’m kinda surprised there’s guys actually slower than him. Okay, one of those was Josh Naylor, but Sosa doesn’t have much speed. He was 255th in MLB for sprint speed. Not sure I can optimistically give him more than three steals. How about counting stats? [staring into the abyss that is the White Sox lineup] Hey, he’ll get everyday at-bats and hit in the middle of the lineup! Good news, right? [listens for an answer and none ever comes, after a thousand years] …Right? Okay, that’s why I said 2nd basemen are a Struggle Bus and why I tried to find other sleepers for you. It is not a good position, but Lenyn Sosa has an excellent batted ball profile. If he could steal 15 bags, he’d a top 50 overall player, prolly above Altuve. What we learned from Naylor is anyone can steal bags, but who knows with Sosa and his lack of speed. For 2026 fantasy baseball, I’ll give Lenyn Sosa projections of 63/25/81/.276/3 in 554 ABs with a chance for more.

Grey the White!

Being from Kansas, it’s ok for me to say Kansas State and the Kansas City Chiefs have declined to go to a bowl game! No one should dog my Pat Mahomes though. After running for his life and still making good throws, his receivers dropped NINE passes!

I have a lot of shares in dynasty leagues of Luis Garcia and I think he’ll be consistently available in redraft leagues as a 2B option, but I may look at Sosa late and load up on the other positions. With 2B being such a crazy position I could see other people reaching for some of my other targets.

Will you have Lenyn over Jorge Polanco? Or would you rather wait to see where Jorge lands?

Harry Ford to Washington for Ferrer. Wowza, terrible trade for Sea. Is Ford of any interest to you?…. Also, Pittsburgh offers Schwarber $100 mil. I almost inhaled my own spit! How about 10, 10 million dollar players to create a MLB roster? Pittsburgh kicking the tires! Hilarious.
