Chris Narveson, his name makes me think of the insurance guy from Groundhog Day. Am I right or am I right-right? His name also would sound good recited by Chris Cornell. Chris Narveson, won’t you come and wash away the rain? Won’t you come. Won’t you come. Narveson was in my top 80 starters. Let’s see what I said there, “Hmm… I don’t remember and I’m too lazy to click on the link to the actual blurb. No one actually reads stuff I quote from myself so I’m gonna pretend I just explained Narveson to a T.” And that’s me quoting me! Yesterday, he had the line of 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks. He’s also 29 years old, so I’d preach a bit of caution. He’s good for Ks (7+ K/9), dangerous on walks and around a 4.00 ERA starter in the NL. So that’s good, meh, serviceable. In any league deeper than 12 team, he should be owned. In 12 team leagues, I’d take the flyer where I had room. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Rickie Weeks – 2-for-4 with his 3rd homer in 4 games. On one hand, I’d sell him. On the other hand, who are you selling him for? On my third lesser known hand, I’m wearing a puppet while talking out of the corner of my mouth.
Brandon Beachy – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks. It’s full steam ahead. I.e., pick him up, snitches!
Craig Kimbrel – 1 IP, 3 Ks and the save. Rawr! That is all.
Rick Porcello – 5 IP, 5 ER. Porcello dropped a mushroom cloud. I own Porcello in my Fantasy Razzball league. You know, the league where you want the worst players. That’s what I think of him. I do hear Porcello is a fungi!
Miguel Cabrera – 0-for-4, played yesterday but he was throwing up during the game. Liquor before beer, man. C’mon!
Will Rhymes – 2-for-3, and his first major league steal. He can steal 25 of them if he plays in 130+ games. SAGNOF! And he appreciates the finer things in life.
Andrew McCutchen – 1-for-4 with his 2nd homer as The Dread Pirate returned to the lineup. This season is when McCutchen goes 20/40 and becomes a top outfielder.
Neil Walker – 3-for-4, 2 RBIs and hitting .412. For what it’s Wuertz, Walker is the player who ended up on the most teams owned by Rudy and me.
Joel Hanrahan – Member when you wouldn’t draft him last week because he wasn’t good in Spring Training? Yeah, Hanrahanananananan has 3 saves and a zero ERA.
Charlie Morton – 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 2 Ks. He was in last week’s Buy and I do like him, but he also gave up 5 walks in this game. Wildly effective can quickly become “Holy eff in the effhole what is Morton doing to my ratios?”
Alfonso Soriano – 2-for-3 with his 2nd homer in two days. Guys and three girl readers, he’s been hitting well in April for a few years now. Don’t act too school for cool about picking him up.
Randy Wells – 6 IP, 1 ER, 10 baserunners, 6 Ks. I actually liked him last year and he abused my trust pretty badly, but there’s a heart under this rugged, mustachioed exterior that has learned how to forgive. I’d give Wells a chance in 14+ team leagues, but his WHIP tends to be high even though he doesn’t walk a whole lot of hitters.
Willie Bloomquist – Is Stephen Drew getting Pipp’d out? 1 HR and 3 SB already for Bloomquist. Definitely unexpected from the Arizona bench in which the only thing supreme about it is it sounds like the Supreme Court (Bloomquist, Roberts — can they trade for Clete Thomas, Adam Kennedy or Jon Jay?). This is probably self-evident but don’t touch Bloomquist unless you’re using a 12-team NL pole.
Milton Bradley – 3-for-4 and hitting third. Sure, playing with Milton Bradley is unsafe for ages 12 and over, but batting third adds fantasy value.
Erik Bedard – 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks. Best thing I can say about this start is he walked away without injury.
Nelson Cruz – 2-for-3 and his 4th homer. He’s going 40/20 if he can stay healthy, but that if has its own postal code.
Elvis Andrus – 1-for-4 and Elvis left the building for the first time since Michael Jackson died. Yo, legends mourn legends. If Andrus goes 10/40 this year, you’re gonna appreciate me ranking him about fifty spots before all other ‘perts. Yeah, I love the Rangers offense. Deal with it.
Derek Holland – 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks. What I don’t love is Ranger pitchers (except Neftali — I ain’t mad at cha!). Holland’s a decent enough flyer in deep leagues, but I’d be careful.
Jorge Posada – 1-for-3 with his third homer. Posada’s agent, “I told you the DH was a good move!”
Ivan Nova – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks. Whatevs, I wouldn’t touch him.
Jake Arrieta – 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 3 Ks. For now, I wouldn’t touch Arrieta outside of AL-Only leagues and, even there, I probably wouldn’t own him. In 100 1/3 IP last year, he had a 4.66 K/9. That was 11th worst in the league. It can get better, but I’d prefer to see it happen before I go near him.
Jeremy Guthrie – Has pneumonia. The p is silent as in pwhatever.
Ryan Theriot – 1-for-5 with his first steal. Has made 2 errors this season and scouts aren’t enamored with his defense. I never thought I’d say this but Brendan Ryan had a lot of fantasy baseball value last season. For STL pitchers that is. Carpenter, Garcia, and Westbrook are all ground ball pitchers. Downgrading on SS defense would seemingly be the last thing you’d want to do. Oh well, at least us fantasy baseballers get to enjoy Theriot’s mediocre offense.
Matt Holliday – He’s saying that he doesn’t need a DL trip and can return in a week. He’s kinda sexy and I kinda love him. Get well soon, Mr. Holliday! That’s me filling out the card for the edible arrangement I’m sending him. Don’t judge!

Great, thanks Grey (sarcasm) gonna have “Black Hole Sun” (the Grey Albright version) going through my head all day today. Nice

With regards towards trying to trade for A-Gon, who another guy in my league listed as on the trading block, he won’t respond to my questions on who and what he is looking for/wants. He rejected my starting, low offer of Morneau and Jaime Garcia, but he is absolutely stacked at all positions so it’s hard to pinpoint exactly where to go on him in trades.
Morneau/Uggla/Beltre/Furcal/Heyward/Swisher/Huff/Torres/Gardner/Freeman
Carpenter/Hamels/Oswalt/Hudson/Garcia/CJWilson/BrianWilson/AndrewBailey/Capps/SeanBurnett
No one is giving counter proposals or letting me know who they might want. Is A-Gon worth three guys, or should I up it from Garcia to Hudson and see if he bites? Like anyone, I just don’t want to give up too much. Thanks for all the great advice and laughs along the way, Grey.
First Toronto, now the Yankees. Can’t wait until I can actually start Liriano, that’ll be nice. Also, it gives me a weird feeling to question starting a guy against the Jays. I don’t think this is going to go away for awhile.
@BigRedLatrine:
Also, I got a kick out of this. The Yankees had some fun fun fun fun with Curtis Granderson.

Grey – great stuff, per usual, but you have another coffee–spitter-outer with Will Rymes morning nourishment. Perhaps you can hijack Dick Vitale’s fav byword for newbies; “diaper dandy.” Although Vitale college hoops, he has a number of sayings that could make the Razzball Glossary: “Bringing a W” (getting a win), “Drillin’ Reggies when they need Pete Roses”: taking long shots when they need short shots, “MIA’re” – player who dissapears, “P.T.P” – Prime Time Player, etc. He also has some great names for teams: – “The All Alcatraz team” – A team ready to have a break out season; “All-Airport Team” : players who look good in airports but get no playing time, and the “All-Rip Van Winkle Team”: players who are sleepers

No love for B. Roberts? I don’t think you’re much of a fan, but his hot start deserves a mention.

The team is weak, not happy with the way my online draft went.
But I think I need to trade for some power, do you see anything to help out?
There is a Team in the league who has Posada, is a huge Boston fan and I have Bard… Who would you rather??
Grey,
I assume you still expect the following line from Travis Wood: 12-8/3.85/1.16/150
How close is that to his ceiling for 2011?
Grey….I drafted Raburn in a 10 team h2h keeper league,expecting some real nice things from him,but it seems like Leyland is gonna insist on hindering his progress of last season by sitting him three times a week.So….
would it be a mistake to drop him now,and grab Justin Smoak?….or Austin Jackson or Jorge Posada….any of them would likely be on my bench most of the time anyway,but still….
or,Johan Santana is also on waivers.
It’s kinda sad when my 16 Team H2H team is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than my 8 Team H2H team – numbers-wise. Hell, even my closers are better (have Kimbrel and Hanrahan on the 16 team team – stutterer) and I only have one save on my 8 team team.
Any-the-way…good stuff man. What’s your take on selling some surplus starters for a closer? In my 8 Team league I have Soria, K-Rod, Lyon and Contreras and I’m not too enthralled with that collection (besides Soria, that is). What do you think of tying to trade Lyon or Contreras along with someone like Kennedy or Kuroda for a closer in the Kimbrel, Hanrahan, or Thornton tier?
Grey – cheers to the Andrus ranking. I’m in two leagues with a couple of the same guys and while I was razzing them for following the Y? school of drafting in our second league they tried to come back with how I picked up Andrus 4 rounds early at 46 in the other league. I told them I’d do it again if he was there for my next pick. Lets just say I’m a man of my word and grabbed him at 52. I have him on three teams, so we have a common interest here.
I have Marlon Byrd for a fifth OF. Robot Jones, Milton Bradley, Venable and Boesch are on Waivers. Do you think any of those are really an upgrade?
11 team roto with a large innings cap – spot start Ogando tonight at home vs Sea?
I have Longo on the DL and Gordon filling in for him. Theoretically, if I were to trade Longoria for a starting pitcher, what kind of caliber should I be looking at given my drop at 3B?
How about K. Lohse? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but he looked great. Looked way better than Morton. Had a nice 5/1 k/bb following a spring where he had a 15/0 k/bb. He looks like a different guy.
Also with Bedard, considering what the Rangers did to the Red Sox top 3 starters, not really a bad start after all.
Grey, you have done it again. Any friend of Groundhog Day, is a friend of mine.
“Needle-nosed Ned, Ned The Head, c’mon buddy!”
Hey Grey,
Just wanted to get your thoughts on two players:
Liriano’s first start
and
Raburn’s lack of at bats, he has been left out of 2 games so far in favor of boesch
Whos a safer pickup… beachy or Narveson? Do I drop Fuentes, League, or Vasquez for one of them?
Ned? Ned ryerson?? Needlenose Ned…Ned the head
Who’s a safer pickup… Beachy or Narveson? Do I drop Fuentes, League, or Vasquez for one of them?
When news broke of Mini Mini Donkey’s injury, I traded for Glass Chipper to serve as insurance until MMD got healthy. Suddenly Jones has gotten 4 of the first 5 starts at 3B and I’m questioning my sanity.
@Steve: I was just about to post the same story. I’m not as impressed by the Onion as I used to be, but that story was brilliant. Mostly because it’s unlike their other stories because it’s downright true. How the hell does that place survive? Must be a drug front.
Are you throwing James McDonald out there today? Might as well right? It’s April effin 5th!
Narvdog going from streamer to getting his own post on Razzball. That is the american dream right there. God, I love this country.
10 team mix. Mitch moreland or justin smoak
Who for my 5th outfielder…
12 team H2H
Morrison (currently), B. Francisco, Boesch, Byrd, Bradley…
Thanks
@Grey
Is it time to worry about Ryan Raburn’s playing time yet? Not too many attractive options on the wire, but I also don’t wanna see my starting 2B play only 100 games this year.
@Grey: 5×5 h2h, 12 teams
I would like to drop Vasquez.
Here’s my current staff:
SP: Kershaw, Liriano, Dempster, D. Hudson, Chacin, E. Jackson, Beachy
RP: Soria, Valverde, Hanrahanrahan
Who would you rather have:
Sean Burnett, DLR, Drabek, Travis Wood
Help! I need another 1B for RBI,HR,OPS,& AVG.
Should it be?:
Smoak
Belt
Ka’aihue
Berkman
how long a leash should we be giving Alvarez?
Which pitcher would you add?
Ogando (v SEA)
Minor (@ MIL)
Hammel (v LAD)
And would you start Pineda @ TEX?
Time to drop Venters?
Also: which of these OFs do you prefer:
Omar Infante
Magglio Ordonez
Logan Morrison
Ben Francisco
Cameron Maybin
McLouth (did I really just type that?)
I am using whoever as a 4th OF, so anybody that doesn’t hurt me in a category is great. Right now I have Infante due to his spot in the batting order and high average. Thanks Grey and keep up the excellent work
oops add Boesch to that list
Going against Walker this week in h2h. I knew when he hit that GS that he was ganna be a pest.
im still not sold on andrus…. people taking him in the 4th and 5th rounds need him to put up REYES #’s to justify the pick that early. If he does it great…. if not, bleh…. then again would I rather have him than Ian Desmond right now? YUP.
@Eddie: if chippers healthy ATL is starting him…. he’s the “old” face of that organization.
All right Grey, I was wavering on dropping Minor for Soriano (I’m in an LF/CF/RF league and my only other LF option is Venable the Dubious). But your comments the last two days have tipped me towards making the move. In Grey we trust!
@Lob Ball — I own Kila and Berkman (they back up Howard and Dunn at 1B/IF), and I sort of think Kila is the best option of those you listed. Power and OBP are there, nice spot in the lineup for RBI, and he seems to be playing. Long term Belt and Smoak are better options but I think Kila is poised for a pretty tasty 2011.
@Jangle: as grey stated,milton bradley is batting 3rd and hitting good right now,is he available?
Hey Grey, I posted in the last comments about being in a 10 person league and dropping Raburn for an everyday starter. You wanted some options here they are:
Snider, Gardner, Bay, Abreau, Span, Austin Jackson, Kubel, and Soriano to name a few. Those are players from both my leagues. Is it worth dropping Raburn for one of these guys?
Also, I have Desmond, but Drew is my starting SS (even though he isn’t starting) and Furcal is available. Better option?
Hey Grey,
Who would you drop for Scherzer? Cecil, Bedard or Niese?
Thanks in advance
Don’t drop Scherzer, period!
Too many knee-jerk reactions in the first weekend of the season! You don’t win your league in the first weekend, but you can lose it with ill timed drops!
@Ali: You’re welcome.
@Deana: Venable for Soriano… XO back at cha.
@Steve: Thanks!
@Arrec Bardwin: Scherzer
@Viagra Falls: No problem, forget the guy if he won’t respond, it’s not like it’s dire.
@BigRedLatrine: Ha
@Paulie Allnuts: Hehe… Thanks!
@JJohnson: Yup
@barker: Minor for Narveson.
@dave: I’d prefer Posada.
@MJD22: ERA can go to low/mid 3′s.
@24hourjack: I’d hold for now.
@Wilsonian: I wouldn’t trade for a closer.
@p0rk burn: Excellent, hope it works for both of us.
@Josh: Not especially.
@Naf: Sure
@ujoh: A #1.
@Donnie Baseball: Bleh
@Shakey The Moyle: Thanks, Shakey.
@Sol: Patience for now.
@Dirt: Beachy… Nope.
@Ian: I am.
@Carns: His family would be proud.
@snags: Smoak
@Johnny Drama: Morrison…
@bigwormsherm: Give him at least a week, but depends what options you have.
@SwaggerJackers: Wood
@Lob Ball: Belt
@bpro: Who? Pedro Alvarez? Longer than 4 games.
@Charles: Minor
@Jangle: Morrison
@Alpine McGregor: Cool
@The |3lue Crew: Furcal, Soriano…
@Chinaski: Bedard
@Chinaski: D) None of the above.
Grey what do you think about Matt Harrison? He supposedly hit 97 on the gun with good command vs. Bosox in his first start. Might end up with 9 wins and sub-4 ERA by the break (before the Texas heat starts to get to him).
Someone please tell me what SAGNOF is…I can’t stand not knowing anymore.
@Grey: thanks man. If it helps, I have a ridiculous amount of starters (Lincecum, Verlander, Hamels, Gio, Bills, Kuroda, D. Hudson, Kennedy, Beachy) and thought of pairing one of them with one of my lesser closers (either Lyon or Contreras) for a top of the line closer (i.e. Kimbrel) or even someone lower like Hanrahan.
Time to drop Venters?
@AL KOHOLIC: yep, but he scaresthe hell out of me. He’s getting old and never seems to get 400 ABs. I was surprised by Grey’s response. I was almost leaning towards Ben Francisco, he’s in a nice spot in the order too. But Grey is the man…anybody else want to offer an opinion on my 4th OF?
Posada or Mark Reynolds??
Ben Zobrist for Tommy Hanson…? I own Howie Kendrick and Neil Walker at 2b
@Big Nate:
I hope you are not one of those who droped Scherzer after his first dismal performance. Someone did exactly this and now i am hoping to get him of the waivers before someone else does. I think he is a great source of IPs and Ks and actually none of those three pitchers i mentioned are currently as good as he is. Grey suggest to drop Bedard but i think i am gonna drop Cecil as Bedard aslong as healthy is a gifted pitcher that flat out knows how to pitch. Niese has alot of upside +Metco (!!!) so i probably wouldnt drop him at all.
@joep:
Razzball glossary on the left, under features.
@Grey Drabek or Matusz?
@Grey Victorino or Tabata?
@p0rk burn: I have Elvis on 3 teams also – managed to get him in the 6th round each time…as Grey says, hope it works out for us!
would you ditch pavano for beachy?
@Chinaski: Oops – Misread your original question. I own Scherzer in multiple leagues and you should any / all those bums to get him.
I need to replace Carlos Pena at UTIL in a shallow 10 teamer for a short period. Read: hottest player wins.
Who do you like: Gaby Sanchez, Branyan, D. Lee, Ike Davis
Coincidentally all bat #4 in their respective lineups. It would appear that Lee has the best lineup but Branyan the most power & the other two youth & upside in their corner.
P.S. Grey, sorry for busting your chops regarding Andrus’ power in the offseason. He’s already proving me wrong.
@Drew Crew: yes
@ScottyM: sanchez…and grey still only projected 5 HR’s for andrus.
@ScottyM: ike plays philly and that awesome pitching staff so i opted for sanchez as a short term replacement,him or ike might be better for the long haul than him to,im considering that
@Chinaski
I drop Cecil too. He’s in a bad division & you can always pick him back up when Bedard’s shoulder falls off. Till then I expect 3.50ERA 1.25Whip 8.5K/9 from Bedard with upside in the vacuum that is SafeCo.
better stash: Slowey or Luebke?
@trick dad – Yeah, I thought it was 6hr and I said he overestimated Andrus power. Maybe his conditioning will still give him legs after the ASB this year.
16 team league. I’m stacked in power. Braun/J Uptown/Krispie starting OF’ers. Dunn/Smoak 1B. Reynolds/McGehee 3B.
Considering dropping Coghlan (6th OF’er) for Dan Johnson(1B, 3B). Grabbed Coghlan because I’m super light on BA and steals…
Johnson seems more likely to actually contribute for me as a possible Util/3B plug in?
Snider and Fowler are my other OF’ers if it makes a difference.
That was a funny Onion article.
You guys catch the one about the Cubs? It’s hilarious. I’d post the link but I’m on my iPhone in an area with terrible reception.
Thinking about offering a deal….
My Longoria/Rauch for his Kershaw/Utley/Contreras.
Here’s my team:
C Buck (soon to be Ianetta)
1B Howard
2B Raburn
3B Gordon
SS Hanley
OF Kemp
OF Stanton
OF Victorino
Util Gardner
BN Pena
DL Longoria
SPs: Lester, Hamels, Hughes, Volquez, Jackson, McDonald, Norris, Niese
RPs: Gregg, Rauch.
It’s a 12 team 5×5 H2H non-keeper.
Here’s my thought process….I have the bats to stay alive without Longo and my pitching needs help. Utley will be out maybe a month longer than Longo, and I’d have a killer 1-2-3 SP. Does this leave me way too screwed at 3B?
I don’t know if he’ll take the deal, but he has Chipper at 3B right now so he might be inclined. I’m only asking first because I don’t want to make a stupid deal this early in the season and I trust the Razzball community (maybe that’s my first mistake!)
@ujoh: i wouldnt touch utley, he might not play all year. Hold on longoria, he’ll be back. It’s game what 5? easyyyy….
Holiday is kinda sexy, finally someone has said it.
Here’s an easy one:
Injury-plagued team has dropped Mat Latos.
I have a good waiver spot – do I drop Brett Myers and take a chance with Latos and his bursa sac?
@Grey
In a 14 team dynasty league with holds and QS was just offered:
My Kimbrel and Holland for his Chris Perez, Jewels Chacin, and Dumpster
It would hurt me a bit in the save department, but seems like a no-brainer.
Only catch is I would need to drop one of:
Kurt Suzuki (have Soto and Santana, been trying to trade with no luck)
Kuo
Madson
@Tony: Yeah, I know, it’s very early, but I overpaid for hitting at the draft and I’m out one of my main guys for a month or two. Kershaw isn’t just anyone either.
I guess the real question is should I aim for more balance or ride out the Longo DL?
1.Weeks+Shields for Alex gordon+Dan haren
2.Weeks+Shields for Alex gordon+Cain
3.Weeks for Scherzer
which is worthy? ( I’m Weeks owner)
thanks a lot !!
@ScottyM:
Exactly my thoughts
Follow up on previous question.
Would you do schezer for kimbrel and Sean Burnett?
Thanks.
Grey,
Any reason to start Pineda today in Arlington?
@ujoh: with lester and hamels i think you’re fine on pitching, its 5×5, you’ll be alright…. those two will get you 400+ K’s then you have some nice upside and hit the waiver wire for pitching. DL longo and fill in with whatever you can find on the wire in the mean time. I dont see how getting Utley a guy who might not play until at least the all star break is aiding your cause of having an injured player?
@Tony: I set up the deal on yahoo and just stared at the “propose offer” button. Can’t bring myself to trade studs so early even when they are hurt.
The deal wasn’t about Utley but Kershaw. I will no doubt be streaming SPs throughout the season, but it’s very nice to have 3 guys I never need to worry about, you know?
Maybe I’m underrating Longoria too much because I’ve never owned him and I won’t get to see him play for possibly two months.
Either way, the deal isn’t happening anymore. Thanks for talking me off the ledge!
@papasmurf: He’s pretty terrible.
@joep: http://razzball.com/fantasy-baseball-terms/
@Wilsonian: No problem.
@Jangle: Yup
@dave: Reynolds
@Jermo: I’d want Hanson.
@DP: Drabek
@Drew Crew: Yup
@ScottyM: What Trick Dad said.
@Donnie Baseball: Luebke
@theguarantee: Sure
@ujoh: Not crazy about it.
@Stophe: Go for it.
@Gig: Sure, Suzuki…
@henW: 1, it’s just fair.
@Arrec Bardwin: Nope
@Whiskey Diet: Nope
@ujoh: lol its early, dont jump into anything too soon.
Drop Ian Kennedy or Edwin Jackson for Beachy?
Grey Im looking for a spot start, who would you pick over the next day or two? Any of these guys worth a shot in a 12 teah h2h league (6×6, QS being the extra cat)
Minor at Milwaukee
Pineda at TEX
Ogando vs SEA
Sanchez vs WAS
Happ at Cincinnati
Thanks much
Grey, I’d like to continue riding the hot hand of Soriano in a H2H league, though I’m considerable ahead in all offensive categories. These are guys that would need to be benches if I want to start Soriano against Enright.
P.Alvarez vs. Mclellan
A.Dunn vs. Hochevar
A.Lind vs. B.McCarthy
CarGo vs. Kershaw
Ellsbury vs. Tomlin
Clearly, four of these guys have fantastic match ups. Is it crazy to sit CarGo against Kershaw and play Soriano?
Add Blanton and Harang to that list if it makes any difference
@Eddy: Yes it is. Never sit your stud hitters. They’re studs for a reason, and it’s not necessarily their looks.
Drop Jordan Zimmermann for a recently dropped Wandy? Worth using a good waiver claim on it?
@Eddy:
Sitting CarGo is not the wisest thing to begin with but sitting him at Coors is just foolish regardless of the Pitcher. I wouldnt even sit Seth Smith at Coors let alone CarGo.
Carrasco or Narveson? QS and K/9 league.
@Eric C.: Eh
@Carl: Minor
@Eddy: Yeah
@Waldo: Okay
@Tom Emanski: Narveson
Which rehabber puts up better 2011 numbers, Greinke or Latos?
Desmond sitting today. In a league with a stingy move limit, Sean Rod’s been dropped. (!) Think he’ll earn a worthwhile amount of PT this season (not just while Longo is out) to be a productive fill in @ 2B and OF when needed?
Omar Vizquel, Miguel Cairo, Carlos Villanueva, and Rafael Betancourt are some other good Supreme Court names. Why are you looking at me like that? Latin people don’t have Supreme Courts? Racist!
@Steve: Hahahaha…my co-worker, who used to own an Edible Arrangements franchise, got a good laugh out of that one.
The Onion FTW!!
@Chinaski: @ujoh: @Grey:
All right, Alfonso will ride the bench then.
Trust me, I normally wouldn’t ask this question, but my huge lead in hitting is the only reason I gave it some thought.
I’ve got J Vazquez, thinking about dropping for Bedard should the former have a couple of more bad outings. Yea or nay?
In a 12 team H2H 6×6 League that counts holds. I typically draft setup to go with holds early in the season and punt saves hoping one of my setup RPs end up a closer as the season rolls on.
I currently have Kershaw, Hamels, R.Romero, Kuroda, C.Lewis, Wandy, Edinson, and Travis Wood for SPs and Chapman, Kuo, Motte, and Storen for RPs. Should I drop any of my starters for Wilton Lopez or maybe Jake McGee?
@Grey: One open pitcher slot, who would you pick up in a 6×6 H2H (W, K, ERA, WHIP, OBA, S)?
Narvelous
Beachy
AJ
Harrison
Lowe
Livan
Niese
Cheers!
@Casey Blake’s Beard:
I for my one would do it in a heartbeat. Vazquez is done, no matter if NL or AL. You may find better options on waivers or FA. I would grab Bedard and ride him aslong as his shoulder carries him. He is a gifted (although fragile) pitcher but doesnt seem to have any problems right now and he pitches in a pitcher friendly park. Well if his health issues come up again, drop him too and grab someone else but dont waste your time with Vasquez. Just my two cents.
@Grey: Thanks. I’ve been holding out hope that Suzuki would have trade value. But it’s not happening.
Drabek or Beachy?, Tabata or Victorino?
i have been offered axford for derek lowe, take it?
Start Anibal against the Nats today?
Would you give Papelbon and Coghlan for J. Upton?
@Grey: Trade en fuego Nelson Cruz for Tony Parker’s DL’d ex?
@Stophe: Greinke
@zombie: He should…
@Casey Blake’s Beard: Bedard who did nothing yesterday?
@Wiley: Not right now.
@MattW: Beachy
@DP: Beachy… Victorino…
@trick dad: Sure
@Nuke LaDouche: Yup
@Donnie Baseball: Yup

@Grey,
Yes Bedard did nothing special yesterday but he still did alot more than 3 RedSox pitchers against the Rangers, so i think we have to see things in perspective. You gotta admit Bedard went against one of the best lineups in baseball in a hitter friendly park and gave up only 3 ERs. The Rangers are massive offensively and they will pound on many other pitchers throughout the year. Under such circumstances, i was even satisfied with Bedards performance.
to be sure, niese or chris young?
dropping Rodney (picked up Walden) for a flier on either J. Francis or J. Hammel. Not too deep a bench, so I gotta grab a upside starter while the gettin’s good. Premature to drop Rodney for Hammel/Francis? Which one?
Grey:
I have Raburn as MI in one league. Am thinking about adding Sanchez or Callaspo and benching Raburn for a while (would consider dropping but a fairly deep league).
I have 6 sort-of to real closers (Thornton, Storen, Lyon, Fuentes, Contreras, Walden). Should I drop 1 (Fuentes maybe) for a MI?
