Jedd Gyorko wins 2nd base job, yay says fantasy baseballers and Richard Kelly. The next thing you know, ol’ Jedd will head off to Beverly, Hills that is. On road trips to Los Angeles. Or Magic Johnson will just give him $100 million to sit next to Dee Gordon and Ryu. “You use your free tickets yet to see Jack the Giant Slayer at Magic Johnson theaters?” That’s Ryu talking to Gordon. They’re good friends. So, Gyorko is reportedly the new 2nd baseman in San Diego. I say bravo to the Friars. In one week, a new Pope and a new 2nd baseman. What did you do this week? Stretch your Sunday meal out into Thursday? Nice work! This might be the Year of the Snake, but it’s the week of the Gyorko, after mentioning him already three times. The hype’s been building in my pants for a while. Did I just say in my pants? No, I don’t think I did, but this post is a locomotive that can’t be stopped. In November, I wrote a Jedd Gyorko fantasy. There, I said I’d be surprised if he didn’t start the year in the majors. *shrugs, combs mustache, waits for balloons to fall from ceiling* I wrote that shizz in November! Okay, no ceiling balloons, fine. Blowing a frickin’ noisemaker wouldn’t hurt you. Gyorko has been a beast through the minors, and should hit in the majors + Petco = Linda Ronstadt. Wow, my math was way off there. It was supposed to equal a 2nd baseman with upside. Since I figured Gyorko would be in the majors to start the year, his projections were already in my top 400 for 2013 fantasy baseball, but I did move him up in the top 20 2nd basemen and top 20 3rd basemen posts. I almost moved Jedd up even further, but Petco and cold sores from previous bouts of rookie nookie kept him in the early 200’s overall range. Anyway, here’s what else I saw in spring training for 2013 fantasy baseball:
Casey Kelly – Likely headed for Tommy John surgery. Too bad, I really liked Casey Kelly when she was a hot girl in my high school.
Zack Greinke – He’s been out a week now with elbow inflammation. He definitely won’t pitch Opening Day…but that’s because Kershaw is starting and Greinke isn’t schedule to pitch out of the bullpen. Maybe they skip his first start just to be safe. In leagues that haven’t drafted yet, I have no idea how far to move him down the draft sheet — I’ll let you know when I have more inflammation.
David Wright – Scratched yesterday from the World Classic due to a rib cage injury. Can you spell oblique? I can. See three words ago. I wouldn’t cry into my pillowcase dress just yet. Wright says this is something that has been bugging him for a week, and he’s played fine during that time. Even if it’s an oblique injury, it’s still early and it doesn’t sound serious. He will get reexamined today though, so stay tuned. Or not. Your choice.
Aroldis Chapman – While the Reds front office clearly decided that Chapman will be a starter this year (and re-signed Broxton to close), Dusty still seems to think Aroldis should pitch out of the bullpen. Maybe Dusty will compromise and pitch him 9 innings every start.
Brennan Boesch – The Tigers released Boesch. Red Sox are now talking internally about him. Ted Williams could’ve told them that due to the unfreezing process there is no inner monologue.
Nick Markakis – He’s optimistic to play on Opening Day. If you draft him, I’d be less optimistic for games two through 162.
Chris Perez – Still trying to get his shoulder ready for Opening Day. He probably starts the year on the DL based on advice from doctors and Vinnie Pestano’s associates.
Lance Berkman – Has had no setbacks over the last few weeks. I’m pretty lukewarm about Lance-hurt-a-lot, but Rudy seems enthused by the prospects of him in Texas at DH, so Berkman’s ended up on a few of our teams. I will now attempt to turn lemonade out of all lemony Berkman news.
Kyle Lohse – The Lohse ‘Will he or won’t he?’ signing drama continues. The Rangers say they remain in contact with him. Someone get Jim Gray on the line. This has the makings of a sequel to The Decision. Only they’ll air it at 4 AM on QVC. “Kyle, will you be signing with the Rangers?…And how about this set of steak knives?”
Phil Hughes – Threw batting practice at Yankees camp. He reported that his back feels good and that he’s looking forward to throwing batting practice in a real game soon.
Derrek Lee – Declined an offer to sign with the Yanks. I bet Rudy Giuliani would be proud to serve the Yankees in any capacity.
Stephen Drew – Still dealing with some concussion problems. Luckily, Red Sox nation is a dark place that will protect him from any sunshine or bright light.
Chris Johnson – Fredi Gonzalez said that he still hasn’t decided between Johnson and Juan Francisco for the 3rd base job, then Fredi made Venters throw 200 pitches.
Albert Pujols – Cleared to run the bases, though he’s still wobbly as he recovers from offseason knee surgery. The Angels plan on pinch-running for him in later innings of preseason games or if he hits a walkoff home run.
Ryan Madson – Still hasn’t faced any batters in the Grapefruit League due to a recovering elbow and an aversion to pulp. Frieri will start the year as the Angels closer unless the Scosciapath decides to complicate the situation. Bring me Scott Downs!
Shelby Miller – Looks like the underdog now to win the 5th spot in the Cardinals rotation as he has been outpitched in the spring by Joe Kelly. Miller has already proven he can strike out guys in AAA (136 IP with 10.5 K/9 albeit an ERA over 4.00) so he probably is the next guy in should there be an injury (bring me the sore arm of Jaime Garcia!). In shallow bench leagues, let him go. He’s a rookie starter. In deeper leagues, hang tight.
Pete Kozma – The Cardinals named him their starting shortstop. Scouts say about Kozma, “Spectacular instincts, quick hands, and a strong arm…” i.e., he’s not good for fantasy. And they say fantasy ruins real sports. Please.
Taijuan Walker – One of the top Mariners’ pitching prospects was reassigned. Hope it works out as well for him as it did for Chaz Bono.
Danny Hultzen – Another one of the Mariners’ top fantasy prospects was sent to the minors. Hultzen has a real shot of returning at some point early enough to make an impact. In deep leagues and keepers, it will require a CWM.
Carl Crawford – He had an auspicious spring debut vs. the Fightin’ Daughters of Meiji University, going 3-for-6 and a steal. As I alluded to in the outfield rankings, Crawford could have a nice bounce back season. I would take the flyer on him for the right price.
Frank Francisco – Pointed to Bobby Parnell’s locker and announced to the media that “He is the closer.” That made the Mets bullpen situation crystal clear until everyone saw that Bobby Parnell went to Jon Niese’s plastic surgeon in the offseason and now looks like Kyra Sedgwick.
Yunel Escobar – The Rays have announced that Escobar will be the everyday shortstop and that Zobrist will focus on 2B and the OF. Yunel will likely hit 2nd in the Rays lineup so he’s a good late round value in drafts. He’s just low on draft boards because he doesn’t play nice with guys who like Cox.
keeper help in nl-only – pick one
david wright 28
jay bruce 25
mat latos 11
jordan zimmerman 14
jon niese 5
i am already keeping craig and goldschmitt — i am inclined to go with wright (although nl 3B looks quite a bit more stout this year than usual) for the 3B eligibility as i see the above as similar bargains (5 to 10 under market) and at least with a 1st rounder locked up i will be able to avoid bidding wars for the elite
@ferris: Wright
@ferris: Yeah, Wright

@Barker: Your team doesn’t look bad, don’t love Austin Jackson, Rios and Desmond back to back, think you reached for Harvey and don’t love Lester…
Grey,
Are you worried about Pujols enough to affect his ranking for this season? If his knee continues to be an issue this spring would you be inclined to take Prince or Votto over him? There is a good chance two of these three will fall to me in the first round. Thanks!
@bossmanjunior: I could see grabbing Prince or Votto to avoid the headache, but I’m not lowering Pujols’s ranking…
Grey,
I’m in a dynasty roto and I’m the big Gyorko in my league. Why? Because I picked him up in the final weeks of last season.
What do you think of Julio Teheran? Do you think he has turned a corner in terms of development? I was thinking of getting him for the last guy in my rotation.
@grif: Get Teheran. I had him for parts of 2011 and 2012 and won’t give up yet. He has the talent to be great.
I know its wait and see with wright, but this really deters me from selecting him. Like you said grey, OBLIQUE, those are nagging, if he’s having issues now? and he’s already the guy who “broke his back” two yrs ago….. IDK, there’s other safer options if ya know what im saying…
@Tony: Yeah, I hear ya… Could see avoiding him because of it… Someone could get a great deal on him though…
@Grey: true, he was cheap last yr, on avg he went 3-4th round? Pretty nice for a 3B who went 21/15 and batted .306 considering some spent picks on longo who was hurt, etc etc….
I dont know. First two picks? I’m just trying to avoid an injury waiting to happen as much as possible. YA HERD.
Ha, yup, I herd…
12 team league and my team is a little short on SP
My top two SPs are Scherzer and Hughes
I’m offered Matt Moore and Brett Anderson for Choo and Johan Santana
Think I should accept this trade or hold off and try to find some more quality SPs during the season. My other OFs are BJ Upton, Adam Jones, Frazier, and Bonifacio.
Thanks!
@stlshawgo: I’d take Moore…
So, I think I’ve got the market cornered on hip-hop/player name fantasy team names. This year I’m rocking “The Funky Bernadinas”, “Upton Here, Upton Here”, and “Bruce Don’t Kill my Vibe”. Yup, it’s gonna be a good year.
@MattTruss223: “South Broxton”, “Thuggish Ruggish Jones”
@Barry Heanbag: Damn, schooled, those are great pulls! At least I hope that’s a Boogie Down Production reference. KRS One is so good. And man, I rocked a lot of Bone Thugs back in the day, classic. Bravo sir.
@MattTruss223: F**k The Feliz!
@Rudy Gamble: HA! Excellent Rudy
@MattTruss223: Eazy-E5, They see me Rollins, they hatin’, H to the Rizz-O That’s all I got for ya.
@Fungazi: oooo, I like H the Rizzo-O too, very nice.
@MattTruss223:
MistadoMolina, or maybe ODB – Give it to Yu Raw, Me Myself and Aybar, Dillon Fu-Gee-La,
I also like Kanye so I always thought Jesus walks would make a great name for an OBP team.
@Robert: Nice! Love MistadoMolina, Me Myself and Aybar is solid too.
@MattTruss223: updated mine to Captain Save a Kuo and added Don’t Give me no Bammer Wei
@Fungazi: comedy…
@Fungazi: ha on H to the Rizz-O!
@MattTruss223: You Gots 2 Hill, Still D.R.E.W., Paul Revere, Captain Save-a-Choate, and the album classic Check Your Headley
Grey,
In my SHALLOW 10 team 5×5 we have no CI or MI and only 3 OF and 1 U, so there are always bats on the wire. Weeky we start 7 P’s and have 3 BN slots. What would your split on how many SP’s and RP’s you would draft look like? 7:3?
I’ve got Gyorko putting up 270/15/60/60/5. But that’s with beer and homer goggles. Are you over or under on that?
@jaywrong: (Obviously, that’s close to the projection you gave back in Nov.) I guess the question is, anything change for you?
Congrats on the call, Grey!! *blows noisemaker*
Hope Jerko is available late in my draft and puts together a solid yr (my league uses Total Bases, so I think he’ll be an even safer bet to perform for me.
@HomeRunfromBehindtheMeatballs: Thanks!
Grey my man. Happy 2013. Figured its time to start thinking about fantasy baseball again. Anyways, I’m in a 10 team 7 keeper(lifetime) 5×5 roto (27 man roster, 14 hitters, 8 pitchers). I’m thinking about keeping the same 7 guys as I did last year:
Kemp, J-Upton, Andrus, Wright, Fielder, Kershaw, & Hamel.
Other options are:
Wieters, Altuve, Pence, Rios, Scherzer, Halladay, & Medlen.
Guessing I should stick with the 7 I listed right? Thanks man. Look forward to bringing Razzball back into my daily reads.
@stoopid: *Hamels
@stoopid: Good to see you again! I’d go with the 7 you chose…
Where do you stand on Jose Bautista now? In his top 20 blurb you mention that his ranking could go up or down based on how his wrist holds up in spring. He’s looked back to his old self so far and hasn’t suffered any setbacks. You and Rudy just drafted him 15th overall in Tout Wars (albeit slightly different league format), but do you think you’ll bump his position in your rankings? Or do you plan on keeping him at 18 overall? Also, in OPS leagues, where would you rank him overall?
Thanks,
Julio Teheran has put up sweet numbers in Spring Training (and Winter League) and now has a spot in the rotation. Apparently the Braves tinkered with his mechanics last year but let him revert back to his own methods this year, but explanations like this are always given when a guy struggles. The question(s): Do we all go pick him up? Anyone you want to compare him to in terms of his ceiling (this year)?
@Joe: I just went over him the other day… See my last roundup…
Yo Grey,
Keeper question. Out of these 5, what 3 do you keep?
Fraizer – $1
Profar – $1
Taveres – $1
Cain – $29
Minor – $7
14 team, 25 starting player (5 OF,6SP,4RP) +10 bench, $260
Thanks for all the work this pre-season! Been a HUGE help.
@gbaked: I am leaning towards Fraizer, Profar, Minor.
@gbaked: there must be some psychoanalytic reason that I cant spell Frazier’s name correct.
@gbaked: No problem…. Frazier, Minor, Cain…
@gbaked: @Grey:
really? Cain for 29 over Profar for 1?
Cain, the number one pitcher? Yeah… Profar will be how much to buy back? $3? $4?
@Grey: fair point. thats why you have the snarky blog. thanks much!
Hehe…No problem…
Just looking for a bit of feedback… mostly from the guy with the glorious stache, but open to all.
Drafted last night, and was really happy with my first few rounds… a few guys reaching in the middle rounds screwed up my plans and I ended with WAY more “flyers” than I’d like.
Main questions:
– how likely is it that my pitchers all suck and I curse my homerish hitting love?
– Should I hold Wil Myers as my only bench Offense guy or is he too far away to stash?
– Is James macDonald better than any of my starters because I only realized today he wasn’t drafted and if you get anything close to his first half performance from last year, he’s money…
Standard 5×5 H2H – 14 team mixed league
C- Salvador Perez
1- Eric Hosmer
2- Be Zobrist
SS- Danny Espinosa
3B- Ryan Zimmerman
OF- Ryan Braun
OF- Justin Upton
OF- Starling Marte
Util- Ike Davis
Bench – Wil Myers
SP – Adam Wainwright
SP- Matt Moore
SP- Jeff Samardzija
SP- Matt Harvey
SP- Phil Hughes
RP – Tom Wilhelmson
RP- Jason Grili
P – Tommy Milone
P- Mike Fiers
P- Felix Doubront
P- Trevor Bauer
@Nate: Glorious, indeed… MacDonald is not better, your pitching isn’t bad…Bit heavy on upside and downside but I like the guys you drafted… I’d be most concerned about Hosmer being my 1st base man….
@Grey: Yeah, my pitching has more questions than Lost fans after the final episode…
Hosmer worries me a little, I was planning on landing Goldy in round 3… but alas, someone else must have caught a glimpse of your colorful graph and snaked him in the second…
I owned Ike last year and held him long enough to enjoy his second half… so my numbers coming from 1 should end up ok. I just wish I had’ve landed a Todd frazier late instead of Wil Myers.
Yeah, Hosmer and Davis could be great, but they have plenty of risk too…
Grey,
Strategy questions in 12 team H2H points league favoring power:
1. If I take an OF in 1st round and Wright/Longoria gone in 2nd, should I go for another OF? We only start 3 OF but there aren’t too many tempting options at other positions in our format. My 2nd pick is at 17 and OF is likely to yield best value for most points. I’m hoping to snag a 1b in the 3rd or 4th round because the big guns will be gone early in our draft.
2. Are you sold on Longoria at pick 17? If he is there, I’m going back and forth on whether to take him. I know your rankings have him at 12, but I averaged steamer/cairo’s stats and he is 30th overall for batters behind Wright (17) in our scoring format. With Wright already sporting an injury and Longoria’s history I’m squeamish spending a 2nd rounder on these guys.
@smegma: Take Longoria at 17.
@smegma: 1. Depends who’s available 2. Yes
@smegma: 1.) you only need 3 OF’s so go with best available non-pitcher…
So I have the Upton bros on one team. Should I change my team name to the Upto(w)n Girls?
In all seriousness, will Dusty just say what the hell he’s doing with Chapman? I have this feeling that he’s going to be the closer again. Just because (as a Cubs fan) Dusty likes to bash my hopes and dreams. FatBoy Broxton is going to get the ax from my squad soon.
@Wilsonian: Y’all About To Make Me Lose My Mind Upton Here… I here ya on Dusty, but I’d be shocked if Aroldis is the closer… If he is, he still has a lot of value… I’m not too concerned…
@Grey: yeah he has a lot of value, but the fat man don’t. I’ll send him out to pasture. And I like the DMX line…may use it. Although I’ve used the same name for five seasons in this league and have won four of them. I’m like a real baseball player…I’m superstitious as all hell.
Don’t change the juju…
Hey Sensei Grey,
My draft is tomorrow, any final words of advice?
Plus, what happened to the talk of Headley headley-ing to 2B?
Hey Grey, All,
Pre-season saves prospectin’ – would you rather have KenleyJ or Rondon? Only looking for Saves. Rondon’s numbers don’t look brutal this spring, just not sure if they’ll hand the rook the job out of ST.
Thanks any input appreciated.
@TommyTwoTones: Kenley
@Grey: @Grey: thanks grey, great work here at razz
No problem…
I’m in a 20 team h2h dynasty league. I was offered jay bruce and jeff samardzia for darvish and crawford. lDo I consider this? Can my pitching take the hit of losing darvish?

Hey G-Man,
Would you change your projections (if so how much) knowing that anderlton simmons will hit leadoff i/o the 8-hole?
@MessyF: If I knew he’d hit leadoff all year and not just from April 1st to 15th, yeah…
Grey – Any chance when the top 400 rankings are adjusted, there could be a notation beside the player that have been moved up or down in the rankings.
Thanks
@ken plane: Unlikely, sorry…
Rudy, at what pick did you draft Berkman in the Yahoo Friends and Family League? Care to elaborate on why you are high on Berkman in 2013? Thanks.
@Trip Wildhack: Probably in the 3rd round… Rudy loves fantasy baseball cougars…
@Grey:
Third Round!?!?!?! Rudy has him as a Top 45 player?
Top 30, he fell for Rudy…
@Grey: I think Rudy fell for him
Rudy’s a Texas boy now, so anything could’ve happened…
@Grey: sounds he like has toothpick in the mouth and a cowboy hat on
A Berkman-flavored toothpick…
@Grey: Berkey Jerkey.
I like the hip hop song team name post. I got some up there, no responses. I hate when the cool kids get on early.
Technotronicarlo
@Jack Full of Hate: dont worry, this cool kid has been chuckling all morning thanks to these. Great friggin stuff i tell ya…
@Grey: I like Check your Headley or Captain Save a Kuo
They’re both good… Ultramagnetic MCs (Miguel Cabreras)…
@Jack Full of Hate: Gettin’ Swiggy Wit It
@Grey: I know i posted it, but I thought Paul Revere was too easy. What about “Don’t give me no Bammer Wei” by RBL Posse (RBL stands for RazzBall Life)
Nice… Big Daddy Cain…
@Grey: oops meant Razz Ball for life
@Grey: House of Cain or House of Maine…Choo Tang Clan…
Ol Dirty Clayton Richard
@Grey: have you heard RBL posse and you still listen to the Hip Hop?
Ol Dirty Bastardo
@Jack Full of Hate: +1 for old dirty bastardo! Thats a top 5er right there…
Ha… Yeah, how could I forget? Yeah, definitely still listen to hip hop… Don’t you remember the Kendrick Lamar pitching tier?
@Grey: the old memory aint what it use to be. I might have to send you some things when i send that movie over
What’s this regarding? Kidding.
@Trip Wildhack: He’s shitting you – replied below that got him around the #210th pick in two expert drafts. Worth the upside.
@Grey: i have to say you guys are insane.. but ive been wrong before. I feel like, owning berkman 2 years ago, i just need to end it on a high note. Thats just my feeling tho.. and third round is a little rough to draft a 50 year old, no?
He’s in the Rudy’s first round, I talked him down…
Haha!! Rudy so crayyy..
You stirred the giant, prezii.
@Grey: when do i not, grey? When do i not…
True, prezii, true…
@prezii: thanks prezzi…I put some bay area rap references up there for you
In Y! F&F (14-team league), 15th round, 13th pick..so #211 I think. Got him in LABR (15-team league) with 14th round, 4th pick…so pick #214 I think. He just had a great offensive season 2 years ago, he’s moving to a great hitting park, in a great lineup, and will DH but has 1B eligibility. Even might get OF eligibility (though doubt it). What’s not to like?
I hear you drafted Lance Berkman ???? You do know Lance Berkman is 37 going on 90 right ? He has custom pants made to fit the ice packs he has duct taped around his knee’s to walk. Picked up the Hurricane Cane as a sponcer. Icy Hot has his picture on the jar. Dude I hope he does’t need Depend’s,bad look there.Junk in the trunk.
One thing I will give you. OLD Lance can flat out hit,no doubt about it,but he can’t run. DH or not he has to run. Him and Big Papi are trying to get a exemption like that golfer for a scooter to get around the bases. You don’t piss into the wind,and you don’t pick up ancient baseballers. Yup your Mom is worried about you too.
Did pick up Jedd the first for MI last draft. Been hoping S. Miller would crack the rotation too. Much more optimism with the young in’s Grey. I still lurve you.
@Big AL: Thanks, AL… Gotta ask Rudy why he loves Berkman…
@Big AL: We drafted him around #210. Couldn’t you have said the same thing you said above about Vlad Guerrero in 2010 for the Rangers (i think he was 35 or so but with those knees…)?
I don’t need to talk to you, Gyorko!
Wait, yes I do.
And sorry for calling you Gyorko, Grey. Brett Weir put me up to it.
Anyway… what would be a good round and/or overall pick number to target Gyorko(!) in a 12tm ESPN H2H snake draft to make sure I get him on my roster? Don’t know my draft slot yet, so I just use the 6th pick as a reference point.
Thanks, and good morning!
Morning! 17th-ish round…
@Grey: Thanks. Keeping with your placement of Gyorko as a target in the 17th, what rounds would you slot in Andrelton Simmons and Vogelsong if I also wanted to ensure having them on my team? (I realize this is highly contrived and succeptible to variables of all kinds, but any approximation you can provide is much appreciated)
Hey Grey, any thoughts on a league you’d bother drafting Dylan Bundy?
My 12-team H2Hauction keep-six league counts IP QS and K:9. I kept Stras and Darvish, and drafted Scherzer/Burnett/McCarthy/Masterson/Teheran/Kimbrel/Wilhelmsen/Perkins…and then grabbed Bundy for $2 as I walked out of the draftroom.
With Marcum, Ryu, Fiers and Pettite still out there, would you swap out Bundy for some mediocre stats in the here and now? Beachy and Leubke are also sitting out there, but Bundy seems to have more pedigree-hype than I remember either of them having.
Keeper, dynasty, deep AL-Only leagues… Not a 12 team league… For Fiers, yeah…
15 team H2H with standard scoring. Dynasty/Keeper league. Players can be kept forever. J Profar, O Taveras, W Myers, and M Machado are all available in tomorrow’s draft. Regardless of needs who should I target and in what order? Thanks.
Myers, Machado, Oscar…
Hopefully I frame this right.
It is highly likely that Zobrist is going to lose his SS & 2b eligibility after this season, and of course adding a year to his age. In a keeper league, that does OF position slots (ie LF CF RF), I already have Heyward locked up as my RF, Zobrist value to me drops after this season if his position eligibility is lost.
Between Profar or Myers, which of the two would present more long term overall value?
A DH slot is also available to further frame the question.
Myers… Yes, Zobrist value would drop…
If he were to lose the eligibility, he won’t… He’s gonna play infield…
Man, I just found out both Scherzer and Moore weren’t kept in my keeper league! Huzzah! Now I just have to pray one falls to me with pick # 9. No way the Hebrew Hammer does since he’ll be the first SP off the board (or should be), but Moore might because of his low ranking on CBS… but I mean, who knows, I thought both were guaranteed keepers. Aramis, B.J. and Pence were three more surprises, but not quite as exciting as those SPs.
Good stuff…
@Grey…please help me pick my 10th and final keeper. 5×5, 10 team, roto, standard 23-man roster league. All players are on some sort of contract, but basically I can keep most of these guys for the foreseeable future. My 9 surefire keepers are: Pujols, Cano, Reyes, Pedroia, Cespedes, Butler, Strasburg, Lee, Bumgarner.
Who should I keep as my 10th…D Jennings or Scherzer? Thank you sir.
Jennings
Strategy Question. 10th pick in a 12 team redraft league that is 6×6 (OPS and Complete Games) we also only have 3 OF spots 2 UTL, CI, MI.
I am praying a big 1b falls to me at 10 with Fielder being most likely. That would make this decision easier, but if only the 1st round OF’s are on the board am I wrong to rank Giancarlo the highest and then push for Longoria or take a flyer on Tulo on the swing around? I know Grey hates Tulo, but with the limited 3 OF slots I feel like there are so many late that would be good as compared to Corner Men or MI’s….
Would love a Fielder Longoria 1-2 honestly….then the goal is to get as many bats as possible. I guess I am asking does position come into for anyone at all that early?
Huh?
@Grey: Yeah I am drunk.
Just wondering if 3 OF slots make Outfielders in the first few rounds a little less valuable.
Hey, I’m drunk too! I’d go with only one OF in the first few rounds if I were in a 3 OF league…
@Grey:
Would you aim for filling 2 of the 3 OF spots in the first 10 rounds, All 3, or the cliche answer, depends aka get best value
Probably would be aiming for that, but it depends on value…
@Grey:
This is what I have been.doing in mocks. Ive been drafting two elite outfielders and if one of Choo or Jennings falls to me around the 9th round I’ve been pouncing. Otherwise, I find myself waiting for a Gardner or Aoki type later on. Seem decent?
Makes sense, yeah…
@Grey:

10 Team H2H League, with CI and MI-Spot, as well as LF/CF/RF/OF , 0-2 Keeper. Got the 2nd pick in Round 3 after keepers.
I can keep Matt Kemp, Justin Upton or Adam Jones. However, I’m still unsure if I should keep two, only one or none.
To complicate it: If I don’t keep anyone, I pick 2nd and 4th (then No.7 overall, which would be my normal pick in round 3). This would give me the chance on Pujols, Wright, all Pitchers, and 2 of Votto/Stanton/Longoria/Hamilton (still undecided this guy).
Sure, if I go by your ranking, it’s J-Up and Jones (although I would consider Kemp) and I would pick Wright/Hamilton in the 3rd.
BUT, if I keep one (let’s say Upton), I get one, maybe two, of Kemp/Pujols/Eva/Jones/Hamilton.
I’m not sure if you are still reading because I think I lost it and can’t follow myself here.
One last thing. There’s also a possibility that the guy throws Votto and/or Stanton back in the pool, if that would change your mind to keep 0, 1, 2.
Thanks Grey!
I’d keep Kemp and Upton… If Votto or Stanton are thrown back, then I’d go with one or both of them…
In a National League-only roto league is 9 pitcher slots and 1475 innings pretty good? Or should the maximum innings be lower since there are less pitchers in action?
Or another way to ask this-
What is a good setup for a NL-only league?
I’ve never seen a max IP cap in AL or NL-Only leagues… They’re unnecessary…
@Grey: OK, thanks. Last time I played AL or NL only was 2001 and they may have been head-to-heads.
No problem…
I’m trying to round out my keepers in my 20-keeper dynasty league (can keep a guy forever). I have all the obvious guys chosen, but I need 6 of these 9.
M. Montero
H. Kendrick
N. Swisher
C. Beltran
K. Medlen
T. Bauer
J. Axford
H. Street
R. Soriano
Also, I have J. Weaver and Z Grienke in this league. Even with Greinke’s injury issue, I’m assuming you’d still trade Weaver over him. Is that right? Or would you try and trade Greinke to maximize the return and rid yourself of his creeky elbow.
I’d still trade Weaver… Bauer, Medlen, Beltran, Kendrick, Axford, Montero…
Back to the round beach balnket idea. Wouldn’t you miss the bending over to reaarange the blanket? Anyway, in preparation for Ryu’s potential demotion, do you like Eovaldi, Detwiler or Hellickson as a replacement? Thanks!
Eovaldi… Nope, wouldn’t miss any bending over, ever…
@Grey: was that a shot at your sexuality or watt!? Hahaha
Long term Keeper question Cespedes or Jennings ? I own Cespedes and am being offered Jennings
Jennings
Thanks
Mr. Grey,
I hope I haven’t offended you or anything. Keeping my fingers crossed that it was just an oversight in reading over MattTruss’s funny fantasy team names (I love Upton here), so I’ll repost my question.
In my SHALLOW 10 team 5×5 we have no CI or MI and only 3 OF and 1 U, so there are always bats on the wire. Weeky we start 7 P’s and have 3 BN slots. What would your split on how many SP’s and RP’s you would draft look like? 7:3?
Nah, I just must’ve missed your question… 7:3 makes sense…
Norichika Aoki and Adam Eaton are both on the waiver. Which one should I pick up?
Aoki
Berkman is going to hit 3rd for the Texas Rangers. Enough said. Upside, like the many manifestations of the almighty, can be difficult to recognize in its various guises. Sometimes it looks like a paunchy middle age DH geezer.
Looks like Matty Moore finally put his mechanics together today: 5IP, 3H, 2BB, 7K.
Just warning to all drafters, Moore always starts the season slow. Pretty much the Teixeira of pitchers. Through his entire minor league career, this has always been the case. Best guess is that it takes him a while to get his mechanics and release point together. So if draft him, I wouldn’t expect him to be dominant right out of the gate. Likewise, target him in a trade if an owner becomes frustrated by his performance. However if any team can fix this flaw, its the Rays.
Very nice… Thanks for the heads up!
Grey –
Was just reading an article on ESPN and wanted to get your opinion…Do you think this Carlos Gomez deal affects his fantasy value? 4 year deal with pretty good money certainly indicates to me they believe he can play every day and make an impact. A lot of the analysis I’ve read about him is it’s tough to draft a guy coming off a career year who may not play daily – but this deal seems to resolve some of that. You guys have him at 190, do you think he moves up at all?
I don’t think contracts affect players in any way other than anecdotally…
How much do pitchers on shitty teams like Samar.. and Niese value drop in a H2H league that counts losses as well?
Eh, maybe a round or two, not much… Their lack of wins are already considered in their rankings, so just gotta figure out the losses…
Just offered a late-breaking deal in a league with lifetime keepers.
Jered Weaver/Nick Castellanos for Hanley Ramirez/Brandon Jacobs. Pull the trigger?
I’d take Hanley…
Hey Grey, in an 11 team 5×5 NL only with 10 keepers would you trade Taveras $8(won’t count against the salary cap of $260) and Parnell $1 for Aoki $5 and Desmond $16 ? Next year everyone goes up by $5 except Taveras.
I have a very competative team going in, but don’t see Desmond as a huge value even with draft day inflation – he’ll probably be kept if I dont; take him in a deal, but Cozart will be available along with Tulo and HRam.
I think I need more for a $1 Closer , the best NL Hitting Prospect and $20 on draft day as these two players should bring a lot in trade value during the season – trades begin after June 1. Do the deal or do .
I’d take Taveras…
given the latest david wright news (likely unavailable for opening day – moderate intercostal strain)
do you still prefer wright at 28 over bruce at 25 in nl-only (decision needs to be made this weekend) so i don’t know if i will have the opportunity to get more news on wright
I’d take Bruce if they were that close… I don’t think Wright’s going to be out longer than 2 weeks, but we don’t know as of right now…
Probably not the best place for this, but you mentioned David Wright, so I’ll take my opportunity.
I remember after WBC 2009, everybody was talking that they should have downgraded players that played in the WBC, for many reasons (getting amped up too early, lack of progressive IPs & ABs, injury concerns, etc, etc), but I haven’t heard so much of a peep of it this year, I’m not sure of many specific examples, but I recall David Wright & Jimmy Rollins having real off years after participating & I’m sure there’s others.
Are you devaluing any players specifically because they are playing in the WBC (obviously David Wright aside since now he’s hurt)? Anybody specifically? Or specifically not worried about?
Maybe this is a good topic for an article. Thanks!
Nah, I’m not devaluing anyone on playing in the WBC… For two guys that get, there’s 200 guys that don’t… Wright could’ve gotten hurt in Spring Training just as easily…
Boesch to the Yanks. All of a sudden, he’s ready to disappoint all over again!
Yeah, he’s good for .250 with 15 homers over the course of 400 ABs, yay…
@Grey: but grey hes a YANKEE now! 4th rounder on espn….. Give it a week..
Right in front of Juan Rivera, the new Yankee 1st baseman…
@Grey: ouch…. cant forget my 6th rounder either… Franny Cervelli!
Espn: draft him high, hes a catcher with speed*.. And hes a Yankee.

Yeah, I’m not much of a donut guy but ever since you mentioned them I want one…
@Grey: I’m the same, they are delicous
@Grey: i will seriously bring one out to you when they are in season. it’s worth it
George Steinbrenner voice from Seinfeld, “Costanza, bring me my donuts!”
@Grey: yes Mr. Steinbrenner *eyes looking down on floor*
Hehe
@Grey: speaking of Steinbrenner, what is the deal with the Yanks, they really look bad, i mean I don’t want to own anyone on their team bad. Pronk, more like Punked with how their fans should feel about now.
They look like the Yankees I grew up with in the mid-80’s… They’re a total mess… They have Juan Rivera at 1st base, nuff said…
@Grey: no love for Dale Berra
Special place in my heart…
The only thing keeping the Yanks out of a sure lock for 5th are the Orioles. And yet we’re still going to get them on every Sunday Night Baseball. Yay tradition in the face of common sense and viewership!
@Sky: I don’t watch E$PN, so haha to you
I only watch whatever games I get/like on ESPN3 cuz I don’t have cable. They’re the TMZ of sports
@Sky: we should start a fund in razzball. i got 20 on it
Ha, I’m more than happy not having access to Honey Boo Boo and her mom, Jabba the Redneck. But thanks!
@Sky: its 2013 sky…. Wat do u live in a box? Even a homeless guy would have cable, in said box.. i was watching travel channel, on malasia, even THEY had cable… In a friggin tent, sky… A tent… Cmon man…
We all live in boxes! But we call them homes, except in that intro song on Weeds.
I have Netflix, I have the MLB.tv package and I have the NFL Red Zone account via my PS3 that I ‘borrow’ from a friend. I get anything/everything I need. Besides, it gives me more time to work on my manifesto while I build bombs in my cabin in the mountains.
@Sky: wait, since you dont have cable, do you know wat travel channel is? Holy fuck man, mind twisterrr
Ha, there’s a channel for everything now. I could probably throw out a word and there’s a 24 channel dedicated to it. Wait, is there one for fantasy sports yet?
@Sky: yeah… The new youtube channel you and grey are working on! Eh ehh?? ;)
Ha that’s really JB’s baby. I’m merely along for the ride. But yeah, I’m surprised by how little fantasy content there is on YouTube. Ok, there is plenty but it’s boring! Eventually every sport will have a fantasy field. We can break into Indian markets with fantasy cricket!
Bud Black to officially Gyork off 3B, Gyork on 2b?

Would you trade Hill ($9) for Peavy ($14)?
Eh…
hey grey, first time fake baseballer last year in a yahoo 18 person H2H categories league. Down to 14 persons now. Rosters 1 of each pos (3 non-specified OF’s) with only 1 Util. 3 SP, 2 RP, and 2 any P per day. Only 5 transactions a week, which limits streaming, but not too much. Only around 6 of the teams have any idea/interest to actually attempt to lead their team(s) to victory, even though it is a middle-sized money league. Not included in the teams we lost were the other 5 guys who at least have some semblance of intelligence with the fake baseball. So this year rates to be somewhat harder and 222222222% poorer for the winners. Eck. I tied for first place (lost on breakers) only by sitting Jup on a big 2 HR sat in september; thus a few hundred dollar decision for the bad there.
Anywho, drafting 10th; and after extensive research (feels like it now, draft’s in a few hours, sleep later) into yahoo ADP/rankings, I have discovered it to be very very likely to be able to draft this: Number on left is my draft spot.
10 Stanton OF
19 Upton OF (returning hitter)
38 AUshizz 1B
47 Ramirez 3b
66 Scherzer SP (returning pitcher, i’m also from st. louis, my last year waiver MVP)
75 Choo OF
94 Peavy SP
103 Perez C (makes ya sick taking C this early, but average damn)
122 Aoki OF
131 Niese SP (also return from last year P)
150 Rutledge SS
159 Bailey SP (return from last year P)
178 Frazier 3b,1b, OF (have no idea why he’s this low)
187 Beckett SP
206 Jansen RP (first reach of draft vs ADP as i think value is high here)
215 Cishek or maybe Perkins (Perkins not likely left here, eh another day another closer)
234 Milone SP
243 Robertson RP
262 Cook/Hernandez/McGee/W.Davis RP (Davis still counts as RP, but i heard he’s starting)
271 Gee SP
290 due to lack of RP spots grab at least 1 hitting bench (likely Wallace, G.jones, marte)
299 Or possibly stream P’s when needed, with these last 2 spots.
So, i will likely be able to put together solid hitting team with yr quoted “most optimal” (Optimalist the super-hero eye doctor) pitcher pairings from the PPP. Even added a 7th from the 8/10th tiers (Beckett). With rosters of 22 (2 DL spots which i’ll likely fill with Ortiz/Crawford or Cashner type) is it better to have 7 SPs, 4 RPs, and 2 bench hitters; or some other version? Oh yeah, our categories are hits,total bases, steals, HR’s,AVG,Rbi’s and runs on the hitting side and W,L,SV,Whip,ERA,K’s on the pitching side, for a weird 7X6. Thanks for any help as i love this site and will soon buy yet another shirt (likely the SAGNOF one); already have the doucebag one.
@jason batteiger: oops, those last 6 picks should go Gyorko,Gee, Cook, Robertson, some other RP (davis/mcgee/hernandez),bench hitter. almost left myself with no 2b or ss, and how bad that would be.
@jason batteiger: I’ve just heard from friends, while we’re waiting to draft, that the hype on perez/v-mart is so high they both may be gone on yahoo by 103. if so, would it be better to get Rivera RP (i’d then later still grab Robertson for hammer lock on yankees saves) at that point (round 8 or 9) since you’ve got him ranked a bit higher than yahoo adp for him (around 135ish); thus not having to reach for Jansen rounds later and end up with Avila at say pick 215 or so? Yet another reason to punt, even very good, catchers. Also, it looks as if i will need to rent an actual 2b to start year (good old yahoo, only 5 starts) for almost a full week until jerko counts for the position he is going to actually play.
@jason batteiger: The Optimalist saved me from cataracts once then he was gone before I had a chance to thank him… Team looks very solid… Don’t love 2 OFs up front, but it looks like it works out for you nicely… Yeah, if one of the catchers are gone, an RP would be fine, depends on the value on the board… Avila isn’t bad to take later…
@Grey: Ok draft went down, and here’s how “neat” comish is, less than hour before draft we find out it is, in fact 16 team , not the 14 we thought it had moved to, which is nice, but more than 1 hour’s notice. Also, having been used to 22 man rosters i had no idea that we now have 26, which again cool, notice of some type before say, the start of the 23rd round would be much appreciated. I could’ve had more closers and/or prospects (myers/taveras/adams) had I known. Anyway Greyone how does it look NOW
10 McCutch OF (yeah i don’t know either, expected stanton here)
23 Upton OF
42 Aushizz (just barely by yahoo adp)
55 Ramirez 3B
74 Scherzer SP
87 Choo OF (also barely by adp, thought of waiting for gordon instead)
106 Peavy SP
119 Rivera RP (perez being snaked at 113 and v-mart long gone allowed me to make sure i get one top closer along with Robertson)
138 Niese SP
151 Bailey SP
170 Rutledge SS
183 Gyorko 3B, 2B in 5 days after season starts (this guy’s adp has gone up on yahoo at least 50 or more since i’ve had razzball window up, wasn’t waiting any more, even though only maybe 2 guys would’ve even known enough to steal him)
202 Perkins RP (better periph than cishek, i think also has better hold on job)
215 Avila C (about exactly his ADP with 2 guys left without catchers coming soon)
234 Robertson (got nervous waiting till right up on his ADP, Jansen went just before)
247 Milone SP
266 Fiers SP (wanted Cobb more, but 5 picks before)
279 Span OF (this is the point right here, that i would’ve started with big prospects, if known that 8 more spots to fill)
298 Cook RP (good set up men flying away right in here)
311 K.Johnson 2B (probably fill in for 5 days of Gyoko but really not bad other than terrible average)
330 B.Wallace 1B/3B (you guys talked me into this guy for sure)
343 Gee SP (thought this was last pick, so went for 7th starter to complets your PPP strategy)
362 Bundy SP/RP (freaked out at not having prospects of high value and grabbbbed)
375 DudeArnaud C (realized other than having 2 catchers this might work out by June)
394 Strop RP (more set up guys)
407 Benoit RP (can’t believe he’s still here since he could be starter right now, right?)
Was going to get Frazier, but somebody else grabbed around 30 spots higher than i thought he’d go. Just missed Beckett at good price, probably could’ve gambled that Gyorko would be around later, having dodged the deaf/dumb crew that is most of this league and got frazier. eh. Would’ve had him and Aoki if it was the 14 teamer I was ready for with less than hour to go.
With Bundy going down (yeah, in this lifetime, Peg) to AA today, should i just drop him for Peralta/Melancon /w.davis (leaning Peralta here cause he’s awesome)? Also, with this foreign seeming but great extra bench space just load up on other set up guys or more decent SP’s as they develop into the season (only daily space for up to 4 RPs)? Thanks Greyed one.
Team looks great! Your hitting is better than your pitching… Your pitching isn’t bad though… You just need Scherzer, Peavy and Bailey to pitch up to their potential and you’ll be fine… Benoit’s role is up in the air right now… Can drop Bundy and d’Arnaud if this isn’t a keeper… Can grab Peralta and Davis… Those spots will end up just hot guys off of waivers… Unless this is a two catcher league (not sure I under the d’Arnaud pick otherwise)… If it’s a 2 catcher league, you need a catcher that will play..
@Grey: no 2 catcher, just me freaking out in a 5 minute window over not realizing that i maybe should’ve been hoarding at least some top level prospects due to 4 extra roster spots. Trying to hit the Trout sweepstakes. this is likely more important in football (hoarding backup/possible but unlikely breakout RB’s and WR’s that could go off due to injury) But as my league isn’t a keeper, i guess the only hoarding would be to beat people to good SP’s or RP’s whose roles could become closers.
@goodfold2: oh yeah, got 2 screen names there,sorry about any confusion. It could appear goodfold2 is doing a very good job of stalking jason batteiger’s fake baseball team. thanks for the help.
Great news, Grey. After three years, I got my girlfriend to sign up for a fantasy baseball league.
We did a mock last night (well, it was more me than her to show her what’s an ideal team), and this is what we ended up with. She’s dying to know what you think. Standard 12-team.
Before you know it, you’ll have a 5th (or is it 6th?) girl reader!

@Grey: Yeah, Rutledge got taken and I was a bit surprised at how much of a blow that was to me. Really didn’t like taking Cozart.
Thanks!
ESPN’s T.J. Quinn reports that Major League Baseball is “actively going after” any players connected to the Biogenesis clinic, with Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun “strongly in their sights.” is there good reason to fear this report and maybe avoid guys like Gio, Braun and Melky?
@2 Giant rings: It’s rumor at this point, and Gio isn’t in any danger… The only one that would be significant is Braun, and I don’t see MLB shutting him down since he’s one of their top players…
A big Pirates fan told me that Jose Tabata will start in the outfield for the Pirates all year but when I look at depth charts he appears to be a 4th OF behind Travis Snider. Tabata could be draftable in some leaguesif he is playing full time. Do you think Tabata will start and if so do you Like him in a 20 team league?
@2 Giant rings: Your big Pirates fan is hoping Tabata will start and do well… There’s no news of that… He’s a 4th OF right now…
Fantasy draft today and just saw that Yahoo changed their ADP, shenanigans!! Bryce Harper got moved up from 35 to 19.
Greinke moved down from 35 to 60. Grab him around 55-60 mark in 12 team H2H league if he is there?
@Dani: Yeah, I’d grab Greinke there…
@2 Giant rings: @Dani: I’d grab Greinke if 12 other pitchers were off the board.
@Grey: 12? So that would put Greinke right after Scherzer?
Yeah, could see gambling on him at that point… Good luck, your grace.
Good question Dani. At what point does everybody else’s hesitation become a buy low opportunity. There’s a gamble in drafting him of course but he could be a steal if he falls in the draft room.
Goldschmidt now ranked ahead of gonzo in Yahoo at 42
They’re slowly catching up…
@Grey: All is see is “THEY” and “SLOW” in your words
Huh?
@Grey: as in yahooo, they slow
think simpleton
Ah… Gotcha…

@Sange-da-man:
short on speed
@costaricanchata:
Yeah I saw that too but I’m hoping Jackson, Eaton and Marte pick it up on the basepaths. Kipnis has a shot to get 20 bags again. i don’t have elite speed, but I hope I have enough possible 15 or 20 +guys to it spread around….plus in my league, it don’t matter none where the points come from, so long as they are comin! I may get that etched on my trophy this year…
Grey almost set in Keeper league. 10 team and we keep 10.
Leaning towards

20 teams. Is Alfredo Aceves worth a flier? It’s possible he gets traded and stretched out to start somewhere?
Eh… Maybe the last round, depends who else is there…
mixed leagues, 14 team, 1B and CI positions weak, pitching a bit solid — would you do Goldscmidht ($10) for Bumgarner ($11)?
Goldy
@Grey:
Thanks….I see we have similar tastes in jokes and players. Danger was my middle name with Joey Bats and Longo but they were my best options once the big 3 1b and 2 sp went off……I like Shields in a points league since he goes deep into games and can get high k’s and low walks. He may not be a true roto style ace but I think he gets his 200 + ip and near 200 k 14 to 16 wins and under 3.80 era…..see my point (pun intended) I also like my flexibilty……thats what she said! Keep up the good work, brother…..
Thanks, man!
Aroldis Chapman just said that he’d like to be the closer, but that’s not in his hands…
The Reds are a bunch of goofs…
Quick Question.
I’m in a league where we can trade draft picks before the draft. I am in a 13 team roto league with the number 2 slot. I was offered 2 and 181 for 19 and 34. Should I take this trade? And who would you look for at picks 19,25,28, 34 to start your team?
I’d keep the 2nd pick…

@Art Vandelay: you are going to need S.O.N. this season
@Jack Full of Hate: S.O.N.?
@Art Vandelay: Stream-o-Nator
Not crazy about CC, and didn’t need him with Gio… Your hitting is decent though, except for the back end with Markakis and Infante…
@Grey: Knew you wouldn’t like CC, but he was good value where he went. I’m not nearly as down on him as you are, though. Think I should be worried about my OF? I took Markakis and Infante to add a little stability with Reddick and Marte being slight question marks with upside.
Markakis hasn’t had a season as good as Reddick’s 2012 in about 4 years, so not sure about that insurance policy… Infante should be at the top of waivers for the better part of the season…
@grey thoughts on 2nd team i posted ??? Which team do u like more between the two ??
@grey also its not 5 Outfielders its only 3 – My 3 OFS are Joey Bats Adam Jones and Choo – The other two listed are in my util spots… I can put anyone there. Does that change your view of my team considering my outfielders now ?
@Anthony: The 2nd team is better… It changes things slightly… Makes it a tad better…
Think I just did a successful 10 team roto Mock draft. You like?

GREY- 18 team Keeper CBS points league, settings favor pitchers, disgusting i know. We can keep 8 that tally up to or under $130. Here’s the players, salaries and fpts scored last yr per our league settings.
I’m pretty set on keeping:
Rios $16 / 571 fpts
bautista $24 / 656 fpts
Sale $10 / 783 fpts
Samardjza $2 695 fpts
Here’s my other options:
Harvey $15/ 553
J-zimm $32 / 638
lance Lynn $15/ 635
James McDonald $6/ 578
Pedroia $35/ 679
BJ Upton $24/ 570
Lawrie $20/ 486
Starling Marte $15/474
Who would you keep with the 4 i listed above and keep it $130 or under? I’m leaning towards J-zimm and Harvey and then I’d have $31 left for two more guys. Not sure. Almost thinking about keeping James McDonald at $6 too.
Harvey, Pedroia, Upton, Marte…
Turned up an hour late to my draft due to the clocks changing in the US last sunday! Typical, who’d have funked it….being in England this obviously screwed me up as there was a 4 hour time difference not 5 as there usually is.
Anyway as its a keeper I was considering throwing in the towel already and rebuilding, but I might be having 2nd thoughts as noone appears to be set to blow the competition away. Know its nothing to do with prospects but always value your advice man, is this team competitive for a 10 teamer in your eyes? Got some autodrafted guys I didnt want, and had missed out on all the studs already, so I had to make the best of what was left and buy the mid value guys I liked (OBP league):
C- Yadi
1B- E5
2B- Altuve
3B- Freese (yikes)
SS- Rollins
CI- Hos
MI- Andrus
OF- Dread Pirate
OF- Beltran
OF- Rios
OF- Gomez
OF- Werth
UT- C Santana (autodrafted, sucks I know…)
P- Medlen
P- Motte
P- Paps
P- Samardja
P- H Bailey
P- Wilhelmson
P- Fister
P- Cishek
P- Jannsen (the worser one)
BE- Tex
BE- Segura
BE- B Anderson
BE- Mous
BE- Kennedy
BE- Peavy
Horrible feeling turning up late to a money league isn’t it, we’ve all done it. Makes you feel like crap at the time seeing all the guys missed but I tried to stay cool at make the best of whats left. Think im light on especially stud power but apart from that is this team still possible to get into contention this year?
@TheNewGuy: And it was an Auction hence me missing out on any early studs (kept Cutch).
No reason to ever quit, especially not in a 10 team league… The waivers will have at least 3 teams worth of guys that are decent… Your infield leaves a little to be desired, your pitching is totally fine if a tad weak…. You have way too many bench bats…
Some guy posted in the RCL I’m commishing that he won’t be able to draft and play, but he hasn’t dropped out of the league. What do I do about this? Oh, and we draft today at 3:30
Draft results: 12 team H2H with extra categories of TB, Hits, OPS, Losses, Complete Games and Innings pitched (Limit 5 moves per week).
C: J Montero
1B: P Goldschmidt
2B: Alutve
3B: M Cabrera
SS: Rutledge
OF: J Upton
OF: A Jones
OF: Choo
Util: A Jackson
Util: Aoki
Bench: Berkman
SP: Gio Gonzalez
SP: Peavy
SP: Samardzija
SP: H Bailey
SP: J Beckett
SP: Fiers
SP: Miley
SP: Milone
SP: Gee
RP: J Nathan
RP: Perkins
Thoughts?
Team is a tad weak on power and high on speed… Your pitching looks great…
@Grey: Thanks, I had a feeling that was my weakness. Should I try and move J Upton and a pitcher for Stanton?
Nah, I’d hold there…
Grey,
Would you take McCutchen over Votto & Cano in an OPS league? 12 team H2H CBS league.
Not over Votto…
@grey: is there a link to printable tier rankings other than going to the war room? Thanks.

162%? 174%? Save some for the rest of us… Nice team… Will say that your average is on the borderline and could easily sway the wrong way…
Just got done with my first RCL draft, I didn’t realize how many followed the BS ramblings of JFofH
Rockies are considering making Arrenado opening day 3b according to
Rotoworld. Where about would you take him if you knew that were the case?
At the very end of the draft with Gyorko… He’s a corner man, not a 3rd baseman…
I pick second in my keeper league (12 team Yahoo, 5×5, OBP sted AVG) draft, and the top available players will be Fielder, McCutchen, Tulowitzki and Longoria. Assuming Prince and his OBP beastliness is taken first, is the Dread Pirate the right call there?
Does the calculation change if my rostered keepers are Carlos Gonzalez, Bryce Harper and Dustin Pedroia? Is that enough to swing it to Longoria or Tulo?
I’d go with Longoria if I had 2 OFs already…
@Grey: Thanks!
I was kind of hoping you’d say McCutchen, but kind of figured Longoria was the right move …
Grey,
Where can I find the doc with all the tiers for each position?
