Welcome back to another preseason edition of Hitter Profiles! So far, we’ve covered our Breakouts and Busts. This week, we’re diving deeper into the draft pool, searching for those cheap options with upside otherwise known as a sleeper! For our purposes, we’ll define a sleeper as a player going after pick 250—roughly translating to Round 20 or later in 12-team leagues. These are the players who won’t cost you much on draft day but could deliver significant returns if things break their way. Whether it’s a young player on the verge of a breakout, a platoon bat making the most of his opportunities, or an injury-prone player who just needs to stay on the field, we’re looking for hidden gems who could outperform their draft position. Identifying the right sleepers can be the difference between a good fantasy season and a great one. So, let’s dig in and uncover some late-round gold with this week’s edition of Hitter Profiles!

76. Mariners SS Colt Emerson | 19 | A+ | 2026

After the success of Cole Young, the Mariners went for a similar prospect at the 22 spot in the 2023 draft: Colt Emerson, a left-handed hitting middle infielder at 6’1” 195 lbs with excellent hands in the batter’s box. He came roaring out of the gate in his draft season but battled injury in 2024, missing two stretches and playing 70 games total, the final 29 coming at High-A, where Emerson was overmatched for the first time as a pro, slashing .225/.331/.317 with two home runs and nine stolen bases. If you’re looking at this ranking and thinking he’s way better than most guys you find in the sixth spot, you’re right. The Mariners have a handful of 50’s here; you could toggle them three-through-six to your specifications.

There are always the telltale signs of spring here in the Bold North: it becomes warm enough to actually snow instead of just being a planet of ice, the War on Christmas ends as my local coffee shop switches from “Sleigh All Day” cup sleeves to “Hoppin’ Along!” cup sleeves, and Grey publishes an absolute gaggle of fantasy baseball articles. You may ask, “How does Grey have the time to write all those blurbs while also being a top tier baker and so fantastically good looking?” Well, I’m glad you asked! Now, go ask him in the comments of his articles, and then come tell me his answer. That’s the secret to quality organic engagement!

We. Are. Back! Round 2 of my Ambulance Chasers takeover is underway as Grey has not halted access to WordPress (yet). Last week’s piece covered injured players I am actively fading this season which you can find here. My thought process is somewhat simple on buying into “bounce-backs” or players on the upward swing post-injury. […]

Welcome back, friends. Time for another installment of Top 400 Dynasty Players for 2025.

This week the countdown hits the players ranked 100th to 75th. In doing my breakdown of the players in this group, I learned a little more about my habits when either building a dynasty team or maintaining the one’s I have. And that habit is this – I do not put all of my eggs in the “go with the youngsters” basket.

I do this because unless you have an amazing ability to hit on every young up-and-coming player, you are going to have some big holes to fill. That, to me, is what the prospect drafts/auctions are for. In all of my dynasty leagues, we have prospect rosters. That is when I go for the upside player over the one closer to the majors or even has some MLB experience. But when filling out my actual roster or looking for to fill some holes, I like to make sure I have some known commodities on my team.

With that thought in mind, it makes sense why I have 12 players who are 30 or over in this group. These players all provide stability. There may not be a lot of upside in them, but there is also very little risk. If you are going to take risks early in your draft or auction, then it is wise to come back and add some veterans. Anyway, you can see the age and position breakdown of the players in this group and then move on to the rankings.
