Manny Machado ($3,600) is tearing it up with six homers and three steals in the last month while batting .350. He’s in a spot to drive in lots of runs batting cleanup against Erick Fedde, who has a 4.59 ERA for the Nats. Machado is best used as part of a stack, and there are affordable bats like Tommy Pham ($2,800), Trent Grisham ($3,400), and Jake Cronenworth ($2,800) surrounding him. The Padres can easily be the highest-scoring team tonight, making them an enticing tournament play.

So, this Buy/Sell is unlike other Buy/Sells — “Ma nish tah na Buy/Sell,” as Rowdy Tellez would say — this is different because this isn’t a waiver wire smorgasbord for the smorgas-bored. This isn’t guys to grab off waivers who are rostered in under 50% of leagues. Since there’s been very few games since my last Buy/Sell, that column still applies for most guys. A few under-50% rostered guys will show up here, but this is mostly for trading. Or as Michael Milken would call it, “Ripping off the other guy and/or girl.” Let’s start Milken’ing some stunods! (That sounds like someone who was hired to work for Jordan Belfort, but was like 40 years older than everyone else and struggled to fit in.) “Hey, Jordan, we’re Milken’ing them stunods now!” Ha, I’m snorting to myself. Any hoo! Josh Donaldson. Damn, I don’t even like this guy, but his Statcast numbers are about as sweet as you can find. He’s top 2% in the league for Exit Velocity; top 4% for barrels; top 10% for xWOBA and BB% and top 8% for xSLG and HardHit%. There’s no telling when a guy can get scorching hot, but by going off those numbers alone, Donaldson could be a 2nd half MVP. He is a clearcut guy who should be better. It’s time to Milken them like no udder! I am very juvenile. Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:

Howdy folx! Did I just make it sound like JKJ was writing this article? Maybe he hijacked my iMac in the Razzball HQ and is posting this from his Netscape browser. Grey, I can’t believe we’re still using Netscape, can’t we at least upgrade to Internet Exploder? Or is that a downgrade? I can’t tell anymore. But, let me raid the Pop Tart pantry in Grey’s basement Razzball HQ and get you all caught up on some hitters that I’m targeting in the second half of the 2021 Fantasy Baseball Season. I capitalize that because I’m trying to be more German in preparation for my upcoming move to the Black Forest in search of ham delicacies.

These are the players that are likely hurting their fantasy teams because of the investment made in the player based on their draft position. Early round draft picks that don’t produce are a detriment success. The players listed below are all guys you’d be happy with when reviewing your team hours and days after your draft, but right about now you’re cursing them out.

We’ve hit the All-Star Break and it was quite fitting to see Vladimir Guerrero Jr mash a homer into the next solar system. The Blue Jays slugger has done nothing short of taking the league by storm, destroying 28 homers into oblivion. I have zero ragerts about placing Vlad on top of the first base list, but Freddie Freeman certainly has had something to say about the move. Freeman is batting north of .350 over the last month and with his running mate Ronald Acuña done for the year, the Braves’ first baseman will have to carry the big boy load down the stretch. Can he do it? Or will the weight of losing Acuña be too much for him to bear. Find out this week, on “Days of Our Lives”. Sorry, I blacked out. What are we doing?

Getting Ahead In Head To Head: All-Star Weekend Edition

With the All-Star game this week, most head to head leagues are combining this weekend and next week into one long week.  This is an opportunity to take a small sample and “get ahead”.  Is this the time that I am supposed to look at the camera and smirk because I used the article name in the actual article?  Who knows?  What I do know is that there are some excellent matchups and opportunities to take advantage of over the weekend.  Finally, remember this, now is the time that many of your league mates transition to Fantasy Football, and just being attentive and aggressive gives you the biggest advantage!

Prospect News: Top Ten 2021 Draftees for Dynasty Leagues

I know a lot of leagues start their First-Year-Player Drafts directly after the MLB Draft, so I figured no time like the present to rank the first round or so. 

1. Miami SS Kahlil Watson, pick 1.16

Watson’s interview with the broadcast team was a tough listen. Sounded like he was exhausted from being on the phone all night, telling his agent he wasn’t willing to sign for whatever fully leveraged, arm-twisting deals teams were offering, probably as early as the fifth pick. Probably negotiated with at least five teams before the Marlins landed him at 16. Sounded like he shut down the Giants, who pivoted late to College World Series star Will Bednar. 

As much as I love aspects of the draft, the reality of a multi-billion dollar corporations needling high school kids down as far as they’ll go exhausts me as well. No doubt they tell the kids what they’re not good at, why they should definitely sign this lowball contract, how they’re risking their family’s well being by betting on themselves. 

Between the lines, Watson can do it all: hit, field, throw, thump, run, and it’s this last piece that really ties the room together for us. Miami isn’t a great place to hit, but Donny Baseball’s fish sure like to steal. Can’t really predict he’ll still be there when Watson arrives, but the Marlins will always have to manufacture runs at home.

Happy All Star Break!  As far as I’m concerned, it’s time to rest our brains for a bit and take a moment to just be thankful for the good things the first half(fish) of 2021 provided for our deep league fantasy baseball teams.  I missed out on plenty of deep league hidden gems this year, but I’m grateful for the ones I got. So, here’s my personal, deep league, offensive All Star team: hitters that I drafted on at least one team and have been on my roster ever since — providing more production, in some cases, than even I was realistically hoping for.  While a few of these guys are now mainstays in even the shallowest leagues, all were true deep leaguers on draft day, being selected outside the top 500 ADP per NFBC when the season began.

The All Star Break is both a necessary breather for everyone in fantasy baseball, and also the worst thing that could ever happen to the gray matter that I dedicate to visiting fantasy blurb sites and line up posters. I will now read some books, perhaps finally transfer belongings from one storage space to another. I may even clean some bathrooms. Not my own, mind you. I’ll probably break into some people’s houses and give them a taste of my special brand of “cleaning.” This entails almost finishing cleaning every surface, but getting tired and giving up. Also, I will use all of your paper towels out of spite and try to flush them down the toilet. That’s class!
