How did the Cubs turn Wrigley, an extreme pitchers’ park, into an extreme hitters’ park, and why do I think I don’t know her name, but that girl goes by She Nanigans? Did they tell some Cubs fan that New York pizza is better than Chicago pizza, hand them a bat and let them beat […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Athletics are officially promoting 1B Nick Kurtz to the rank of major leaguer, and like the winding journey into the heart of darkness we find in Apocalypse Now, things are about to get a little weird in Sacramento. Good weird though, like the early Rockies teams that leaned all the way into the collect-mashers advantage of playing half your games in Coors Field. I don’t know if you have to avoid the A’s the way you had to avoid trips up the mountain, but I’d rather not throw any of my starters in their park if I could avoid it. A lineup composed of Kurtz, Soderstrom, Rooker, Butler, Langeliers, Bleday and Jacob Wilson presents a lot of tough outs with nasty consequences for misplaced pitches. My AL Only squad is stoked to see him. They’re in first place despite losing Grayson Rodriguez and Luis Gil before the season started, and their only chance to hold the top spot is to mash like a mixed league club.

Please, blog, may I have some more?Remember that one Razzball writer, the guy who said that shallow positions aren’t shallow, they’re just waiting for guys to ascend to their new lofty heights? Genius, that guy is. Especially with Nick Kurtz receiving the call in Oakland. Kurtz is the rarest of modern breeds: a first base bat prospect taken in the first […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Mitchell Parker peter piper’d a pickle pepper of a game yesterday (8 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 1.39). Mary Jane smacked her lips on that Parker, in the kisser. But this is when things got weird. I opened Mitchell Parker’s Statcast page and it froze on me. A message […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy week four, gang. Hmm, best not mention gangs or I might be on my way to El Salvador. Happy week four, good, normal humans. We’ve made it one whole month! Are you ready to move on to fantasy football? Hate your team? I definitely have a love/hate relationship with all of mine right now. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Welcome back, stolen base aficionados. The calendar is about to turn to May, and the fantasy teams are shaking out into contenders and pretenders. It’s still silly season though, where big swings can happen. Today we are going to discuss the classic 2002 Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio film Catch Me If You Can. The […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? This is probably the last week where I start my article by saying, “hey, it’s still early”. So let me get that out of the way now. “Hey, it’s still early.” Skill indicators do stabilize ahead of the bottom line numbers we all need on our teams. Stabilization itself is a confusing concept. It doesn’t […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? How is it going so far for you this DFS season? Think about how your season-long teams are doing and how your DFS results have gone. What attitude are you approaching today’s slate with? If you have not been successful, there can be a slight bias developing towards more conservative game play in DFS while […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Grey and B_Don talk about the prospects that have joined their major league teams on this week’s Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast. We talk about a couple of speedsters in Chandler Simpson and Caleb Durbin. One of the other top stash candidates, Nick Kurtz, is coming up to join the As. Luke Keaschall, Tirso Ornelas, Agustin […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Whaddya say, let’s do a Nick Kurtz post every other day for the rest of the season. For unstints: Random starter pitches well, I write a lede about him, “Yay, Max Meyer, you complete me, not ‘me’ like Renée Zellweger, but ‘me’ as in a 14-strikeout game,” or whoever pitches well, then the next day’s […]
