For Mother’s Day, MLB uses pink bats. My suggestion for Father’s Day is bats with hairy bags hanging off the handle. This suggestion appears to fall on deaf ears, even though I go through the proper channels, filling out all the comment cards in the lobby at MLB headquarters. Even chitchatting with Jim, at security, for way longer than most people! No one hears my suggestions! Shoot, I was typing that instead of saying it out loud in the lobby. Hmm, my bad. Hope everyone’s Father’s Day was nice, with a special shoutout to the fathers who are “yelling at cars on their street to slow down” years old. You know who you are (all of you). So, all the fantasy fathers got good news this weekend, major rookie nookie incoming (not from their wives, as usual). First call-up was Alex Kirilloff, after being in my Friday Buy. Not sure if we’ll talk about him today on the podcast, since BDon spent the last six weeks talking about him incessantly like he lost a bet. Next up was Riley Greene, as he started in the majors on Saturday. Dan Pants gave you his Riley Greene fantasy on Saturday. I’ve been giving you a Riley Greene fantasy for the last six months. If you don’t pick up Riley Greene, you hate winning and America. You’re a Communist. I’m sorry, please enter your driver’s license number in the comments. We need to send people to your house. Finally, the Pirates made all our dreams come true. No, they didn’t dissolve into other teams, so all their pitchers could become aces. They called up Oneil Cruz! Literally just gave you my Oneil Cruz fantasy. It’s all there. The “it” I am referring to are his five tools and my post. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, granddads, stepdads, fathers-in-law, uncles, older brothers, and generally speaking, all the “father figures” out there making people’s lives better by being in them. My family let me sleep in this morning, so I’m in the best possible mood anyone could be in without psilocybin. What’s on your plate […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?As the temperature rises each and every day as the start of summer approaches, the top prospects in baseball are beginning to make their mark in the majors. Three such rookies are pitcher Roansy Contreras and catchers Gabriel Moreno and Adley Rutschman.
Entering the season, Contreras was ranked as the 80th best prospect by Baseball America, 71st by MLB and 89th by Baseball Prospectus. The right-hander has actually been up all season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, appearing in eight games and making six starts. However, he is rostered in only 34% of Yahoo leagues and 10.5% of ESPN leagues.
Moreno, who is only 22, started the season as a top-10 prospect by Baseball America and MLB and in the top 25 by Baseball Prospectus. He appeared in his first game with the Blue Jays June 11 and collected a single that night and has collected at least one hit in four of his first five major league games. Yet he is rostered in only 27% of Yahoo leagues and 9.8% of ESPN leagues.
Rutschman is 24 and just made it to the majors with the Orioles. But he should have been with Baltimore last season as he proved he had nothing left to prove in the minors. That said, he is rostered in only 61% of Yahoo leagues and a surprising low 41.5% of ESPN leagues.
Let’s look at these three players and examine of they should be Top Fantasy Keepers or not.
Please, blog, may I have some more? After my best week of the season, last week’s streamers had some mixed results. Weeks like that are inevitable, but enough of them did well for me to be happy with the results. One thing has become clear, and it’s that there are a ton of good streamers out there. The pitching landscape is full […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? That’s right, Happy Ef(lin) Father’s Day to all my fellow dads out there. Unlike my Mother’s Day article, I won’t be serenading you with clever songs to honor all our pops and grandpas. We, men, like to cut to the chase and get right to the action, don’t we? We also like to make choices […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?We don’t spend much time with the stragglers around Prospect World, but a lot of highly ranked guys have struggled this season. That sentence reads like a timeless nothing-statement when I see it on the page, but it’s a pretty accurate description of my thoughts as I scoured the landscape to find the best 100 minor league players for the fantasy game.
If you think of a name that you figured would be here, there’s a good chance they’ve scuffled to start this season. The Nicks, Yorke, Gonzales and Pratto, missed the list in surprising fashion. Perhaps I was more demanding of them because my human-person-walking-around name is also Nick, and I am subconsciously more disappointed with them than I would be with a non-Nick player. Seems unlikely, but you never know.
Also a pretty good chance the player(s) you’re looking for were covered:
either here in the Top 25,
or here in the Top 50,
or here in the Top 75.
I’ll try to stay concise in between the tiers here, but you can access a more in-depth consideration of each individual player by clicking on their names or skimming around in the 2022 Minor League Preview Index.
Anyway, the buns are in the oven. No changing the recipe now. Smells pretty good already, now that the prep’s done and the kitchen’s clean. Ish. Clean as it’s gonna get anyway. Let’s dig in.
Please, blog, may I have some more?MoreIt’s been a painful week for injuries, no pun intended. Anthony Rendon, Ozzie Albies, Liam Hendriks, Jorge Polanco, Jeremy Pena, and Yadier Molina have all landed on the IL to name a few. Luckily, we have an interesting mix of streamers and call-ups this week to help fill in if you find yourself short-staffed. At […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? There comes a time in every season, when it feels like players and dropping left and right. Maybe it is the heat or maybe it is a speech from Brian Snitker but is does feel like a shift is taking place with injuries across the board. Just this week, we lost the likes of Anthony Rendon, Ozzie Albies while Fernando Tatis Jr. and Mitch Haniger appear to have delays in their rehab. It sounds like time to scour the waiver wire while making some tough decisions about who really can stick around on the injured list. This week in our Top 100 hitters, while we say goodbye to Rendon and Albies we get to welcome a few new faces. Sit back and enjoy this week’s edition of the Top 100 hitters for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Detroit Tigers have finally given the Riley Greene Light calling up their highly touted prospect to make his first MLB start Saturday and it could not come soon enough. Detroit ranks dead last in OBP, SLG and OPS. They are also last in steals, runs, RBIs and you guessed it–home runs with just 31, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Someone tell @DonkeyTeeth this is not a football article and the JAGs mentioned above do not reside in DUUUUUUUUUU-VAAAAAAAAAAL. Keep reading and you will find out what a JAG is and how we are weaving them into our DFS line-ups. Well, folks, it appears as if Commissioner Manfred has started inserting the home run balls […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Friends, I have no polite way to put it: last week in baseball injuries was a shit show. While some of the early season injuries are out of the way, the Tommy John surgeries, thoracic outlet syndrome, and other various fractures and tears are TEARING ME APART. Hyun Jin Ryu. Andrew Kittredge. Daulton Jeffries. Casey […]
