Welcome back to MLB DFS, Independence Day edition! Today we celebrate America and what better way to do that than with a day full for of baseball. We have 13 games and 26 teams playing today starting at 11:05 am ET. There are multiple slates on FanDuel but for the purpose of this article I’ll […]

At least one of you is reading this with a bandaged thumb from a fireworks mishap. I had a Cousin Pete (Italian side of the family) who lost the tip of his thumb on the 4th, but rather than stop the festivities, he taped the tip of a hot dog on his thumb to act as a tourniquet for the rest of the 4th, so we could all go about our fun-having business. I suggested my cousin make a PSA about hot dog tourniquets, but I was turned away by NBC Cares. Let us bow our heads and pray that if anyone loses a piece of their finger, may there be a proper-sized hot dog nearby. Yesterday, the floodgates opened with the strikeouts from Framber Valdez (6 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 13 Ks, ERA at 2.67) that no hot dog tourniquet could stop. Heading into the 4th of July and I am saluting The Astros SPangled Banner. Between Verlander, Javier, Luis Garcia and Framber just draft all Astros SPs, and sit back and enjoy the fireworKs. But have some cocktail weenies nearby, just in case. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it explicitly before, but I am an Oakland A’s fan. I know, I know. Yes, I know the other one. This has not been an easy season to be an A’s fan. Frankly, what’s happening on the field is so dismal, it’s become far more interesting as an A’s […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? After a one-week hiatus due to a very welcomed (and very needed) vacation, welcome back to another edition of Top Fantasy Keepers.
Despite taking a break myself, Major League Baseball decided to keep playing baseball. During that time, one player who has rocketed through the minors was recalled to the majors while another player who is now in his second season continued to hit home runs.
The Rookie First Baseman
Earning his promotion to the majors was Vinnie Pasquantino of the Kansas City Royals. The powerful Pasquantino first tasted the minors in 2019 after an outstanding college career at Old Dominion, making him the second-greatest baseball player at the school behind Justin Verlander.
Despite smashing the ball out of minor league ballparks across America since 2019, Pasquantino is currently rostered in 33 percent of Yahoo leagues and 10.2 percent of ESPN leagues.
The Second-Year Catcher
Like Pasquantino, Cal Raleugh of the Seattle Mariners had an outstanding college career, spending three years at Florida State. And like Pasquantino, Raleigh move pretty quickly through the Mariners system after being drafted in 2018.
Also like Pasquantino, Raleigh is very available in Yahoo and ESPN leagues. He is rostered in only 7 percent of Yahoo leagues and 2.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
Let’s take a look at these two players and see if they should be on your roster or not.
Please, blog, may I have some more? After a disappointing Week 11, we bounced back big time in Week 12. The one that really worried me going in was Erick Fedde, but he provided us with a lovely two-start week. My streamers to consider section was the only part of the article that didn’t go well, but you need to take those […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? What up Razzballeroos. Filling in for DFS on this beautiful holiday weekend Sunday. One more day of not heading to the office every week should be standard. 4 day work week is the way we need to go. You know what else we need to become standard again? No Sunday baseball games before Noon Eastern […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Cubs 1B Matt Mervis (24, AA) looks like a prototypical, left-handed hitting, middle-of-the-order masher at 6’4” 225 lbs who has already blasted 19 bombs in 66 games across High-A and Double-A this season. His strikeout rate has been around 24 percent at both levels along with .644 and .650 slugging percentages, but he has almost doubled his walk rate from 4.6 percent in High-A to 7.7 percent in Double-A. Gotta watch this one closely. Never-nervous Mervis got a little lost in the covid-draft chaos but raked in the wooden bat Northwoods League in 2018 and did the same in the wooden bat Cape Cod League in 2019. He looks more athletic to the eye test than the statsheet and profile might suggest.
Please, blog, may I have some more?It took almost three months but Vinnie Pasquantino is finally in the bigs. He will draw most people’s attention and if you’ve been saving your FAAB budget, I think it’s time to drop the hammer. Kenley Jansen is on the IL with an irregular heartbeat. Atlanta’s bullpen situation is something to look at this week, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Welcome to July where we are only two weeks away from the All-Star game and fantasy baseball owners are trying to gear up for the second half. This week, our rest of the season rankings take on a little shake up thanks to injury (sorry, Bryce Harper and Salvador Perez) and the continued breakout of young stars like Julio Rodriguez and Bobby Witt Jr. In the coming weeks, we also hope to welcome back a healthy Eloy Jimenez, Fernando Tatis Jr. and maybe even Mitch Haniger. Because we know you have already skipped this short introduction, let us move on to the rankings for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season.
Please, blog, may I have some more?“He who has ears, let him hear.” We tried to tell you in the preseason, but anyone who wasn’t fully convinced before last night should now be straight evangelical for Cristian Javier after he dismantled the Los Angeles Angels. On the back of seven no-hit innings with 13 punch-outs against the Yankees last week, Javier […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I admit, I never really played any of the Kirby games as a kid, but Kirby in Super Smash Bros. was totally my jam. There’s nothing more annoying than being constantly inhaled and spat out by a Kirby player that has no idea what they’re doing but mashes buttons enough to make this the only […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Welcome to your star spangled edition of AMBULANCE CHASERS, Razz peeps! In honor of Independence Day, I have put a red, white, and blue vinyl table cloth down and laid out some lukewarm potato salad. I am on a budget. So, I hope you like Dr. Thunder. Also, there will not be any fireworks because […]
