We have officially passed the quarter pole. We’ve also passed the Preakness, which reminds me that the quarter pole in horse racing is actually the marker that the race has a quarter mile to go, not that it’s ¼ done. Thus, there is no quarter pole in baseball so I shouldn’t use that phrase even […]

When you look at pitcher heat maps, you will see a red circular shape where the pitcher most often hits the catcher’s mitt. Some pitchers have two spots they like to target in the zone, but most have one particular spot they like to focus inside the zone. For Tarik Skubal, that dot is very […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?In this week’s Razzball Fantasy Baseball Podcast, we dive into the exciting wave of MLB call-ups and what they mean for your fantasy baseball roster. Catchers Moises Ballesteros (Cubs) and Dalton Rushing (Dodgers), along with versatile infielder Matt Shaw, have been brought up, but are they fantasy-ready or just names to stash? We break down […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Matt Shaw (2-for-4, 1 RBI and his 1st steal) was recalled by the Cubs, as was reported here after reading about it elsewhere. This spells the end to Brujan and Berti, E-N-D, but Shaw really needs to make better contact than he was making during his last MLB stint, which I’m assuming he can do, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy Monday, Razzball faithful! We’re a week away from Memorial Day ( I looked it up) but around here, the kids are off school for Victoria Day. Or as my youngest so eloquently summed it up: “Wait, so an old English lady who was a queen or something died and we get a day off […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Razzinators! We’re heading into the pre-Memorial Day, post-Cinco de Mayo zone of fun avoidance. Unless you have PTO and a Senior corporate position, in which case you just took the whole month of May off and called it “focus time.” Much like I spend my “focus time” watching The Pitt and trying to imagine being as calm as Noah Wylie on literally any minute of any day. What if The Pitt made each episode a “Oner,” like maybe you’ve seen on The Studio? I’m sure by now I’ve lost most the readers to their TVs. Let’s give you a Oner and then call it a Doner. No, not a kebab. Like, Done. On with the text!
Please, blog, may I have some more? We’ve approached the 50-game threshold and we’re starting to see movement in players. No, I’m not talking about trades. I’m referring to the phenomena each season where slow-starters begin to heat up and fast-starters remind us they are not superstars (yet). So, for this week’s Points-league analysis, we’ll identify those players on the rise and […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Jose Alvarado was suspended 80 games for PEDs. Phils said in a statement, “We haven’t had a good bullpen in fifteen or so years so when we had a good reliever, we were like, ‘Who’s testing the urine?’ And this weird-looking guy misheard and said, ‘I’ll taste it.’ And we were like, ‘What? No! Gross, […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?If you have Tarik Skubal, this looks it should be a really good week for you. Though it almost always is. He’s really good! But you get a double serving this week! As for everyone else…it could be worse. It’s not that it’s a bad week for two start options; it’s just that it isn’t […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The fantasy seas are rough right now. Injuries have hit like a storm, leaving rosters battered and managers scrambling for anything that floats. With stars sidelined and stat lines springing leaks, it feels like everyone is just trying to stay above water. But there are lifeboats. Players floating on the waiver wire who might be able to keep your season from sinking. It seems like every team is dealing with injuries. The injured list is overflowing. Time to look for reinforcements who can fill the gaps or even offer more. A few names are stepping into bigger roles, flashing potential, or riding hot streaks. These are the kinds of pickups that can help stabilize your roster and maybe give you an edge moving forward. This week’s hitter profiles dig into the gambles work taking off the wire and even a few guys that may be helpful the rest of the season.
Please, blog, may I have some more? After a disappointing article two weeks ago, we bounced back big time last week. We had Nick Martinez and AJ Smith-Shawver pitch some gems as two of our streamers, and two-start guys like Merrill Kelly and Colin Rea didn’t let us down either. The hitting streamers weren’t quite as successful, but the hit rate will […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?1. Red Sox OF Roman Anthony (21, AAA)
Turned 21 on May 13th, so Happy Belated Birthday, Roman! I wonder how he celebrated. The city of Boston would’ve been happy to throw him a big party, but that can wait, apparently. Tough to argue with their outcomes across the outfield this season. Cedanne Rafaela (87) has a higher wRC+ than Jarren Duran (84) this season, in case anyone cares. Gonna hit this drum just one more time and then let it rest: Rafaela has provided 1.1 Wins Above Replacement according to Fangraphs, while Duran has posted a 0.3 WAR. What is good for? Absolutely nothing. Just sayin. Does anyone remember Jack Cust? How did Grey used to spell Cust kayin’? Just like that, I guess, as confirmed by a quick giggle search.
